Brochure Case Auto PIRELLI PERFORMANCE FOR LAMBORGHINI. CONTROL IS AN ART POWERED BY TECHNOLOGY. THE AVENTADOR LP700-4 PIRELLI SPECIAL EDITION The co-operation between Lamborghini and Pirelli dates back to the year, when Ferruccio Lamborghini turned to Pirelli to supply the tyres for the fi rst car of his newly established automotive company: the 350 GTV. Since then all Lamborghini cars have been equipped with Pirelli tyres. Today, more than 50 years later, Lamborghini announces production of an exclusive new special series, the Aventador LP700-4 Pirelli Special Edition, created to celebrate the long and on-going history of co-operation with prestigious Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli. The new Aventador Pirelli Special Edition, available in Coupé and Roadster versions, is produced in a special series and is available to order now from dealers, for delivery early summer 2015. The supersport car maintains all its unique technical features, fi rst and foremost the carbon fi bre monocoque, the V12 engine, pushrod suspension and the permanent all-wheel drive, which underlie the Aventador’s global success. The special Pirelli series is enhanced by exclusive equipment specifi cally designed by the Lamborghini Centro Stile. Distinctive features of the body are a thin red stripe that runs along the roof and the engine hood, the rear-view mirrors and the outer profi les of the air intakes, a stylistic element designed to evoke the unmistakable Pirelli branding. A Pirelli logo, once again in red, is visible at the start of the two roof lines as well as on the tyres. A plaque reading “Pirelli special series” is also fi tted inside each car to underline the exclusiveness of the series. 2 3 CO-DEVELOPMENT A PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY TO MAXIMIZE THE PERFORMANCE OF YOUR LAMBORGHINI Pirelli is the leading OE tyre manufacturer for supercars and is proudly the sole supplier to the entire Lamborghini range. Lamborghini shares our dedication to performance engineering, and we dedicate our eff orts to developing the best ultra-high performance tyres in order to enhance the features of these legendary cars both on the road and on the track. The process of achieving a homologation is a complex one and can take up to three years to complete. Pirelli’s research team works directly with Lamborghini’s engineers during the development of a new vehicle to create a tyre that provides the perfect balance between safety in wet conditions, handling, comfort and performance over the entire life-cycle of the tyre. This development includes countless indoor and outdoor activities in a number of areas such as high speed, integrity, wet and dry handling, aquaplaning, rolling resistance and winter performance. Once all of the requirements from Lamborghini’s target letter are achieved the tyre is offi cially homologated, marked with an “L” and then put into mass production. CAR DEVELOPMENT TYRE DEVELOPMENT 4 THE IMPORTANCE OF “L” MARKED TYRES Original Equipment tyres homologated by Lamborghini, recognized through the specifi c marking “L” on the sidewall, are the result of a strong collaboration of technological development between Lamborghini and Pirelli. These tyres are the perfect match for the car model for which they have been developed for. With “L” marked tyres you are guaranteed the best performance, handling and safety for your Lamborghini. These marked tyres grant the correct dimensional tolerance between front and rear tyres and therefore the proper functioning of the Lamborghini 4 wheel drive transmission.     2009 AUDI R8 4.2 FSI The R8 is the Audi that wasn’t supposed to be, because of an unspoken agreement not to build a car that would compete with the venerable Porsche 911. Audi’s engineers based their high-calibre sports car on the platform developed for the Lamborghini Gallardo (Audi is the owner of the Lamborghini nameplate). In terms of size, the R8 is 3 cm shorter and 5 cm lower than the 911, but its wheelbase is 30 cm longer. Under the transparent engine cover, behind the cabin, is a 4.2-litre V8. Interior and trunk Since the R8 is very low and its doorsills are very wide, access can be problematic for people of average height or more. But the effort is worthwhile, and you quickly discover that the seats are very comfortable, with four-way power lumbar adjustment. The driving position is excellent, thanks to the telescoping steering column and generous legroom. Headroom is adequate for tall people. The very small (100-litre capacity) front-end trunk gives new meaning to the expression “travelling light”. Convenience and safety features Cockpit finish is exemplary and the quality of materials is excellent. Unfortunately, road noise is very audible. You won’t find many cubbies, and total cabin storage is very limited. Gauges and controls are well located, and everything is lighted at night. The air conditioner is very efficient, even though the fan isn’t all that powerful. A choice of intermediate air-distribution positions is always appreciated. Strangely, neither a smart key nor headlight washers are available, even as an option.

Many industrial countries in particular enjoyed a slight upturn in economic activity despite the structural challenges they continued to face. Thus, the economy in Western Europe likewise showed initial signs of stabilizing. However, the countries on the region’s southern fringe con- tinued to suffer from negative growth rates. Economic growth in the United States picked up slightly in the course of the year. This was helped by consumer spending and the steadily im- proving labor market. The business cycle in most emerging countries was robust, even if eco- nomic expansion was somewhat slower than in previous years. There was nevertheless considerable variation in the overall development of the passenger car market from region to region. In Germany, consumer reticence driven by the continuing uncer- tainty about Western Europe’s future economic direction prompted a 6.0 percent drop in pas- senger car sales. New registrations in Western European export markets continued to fall by 3.3 percent due to the weak economies of a large number of countries in that region. By contrast, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in the United States rose by 8.1 percent; the main factors behind this growth were the continuing high level of replacement demand and greater consumer confidence.
