    ARRIVAL CITIES Managing global flows at local level Roquetas de Mar is located in the southern part of the Almeria province, on the western side of Almeria bay, in the region of Andalusia (Spain). The municipality has a surface of sixty square kilometers (23,45 sq. miles). Roquetas has experienced rapid population growth in recent decades. The population has grown from 28.000 in 1990 to 96.000 inhabitants (2017), although the actual population exceeds 105.000 inhabitants (in summer they could easily reach 250.000). By gender, 52,47% of the inhabitants are male and 47,53% female. This growth has been stimulated mainly by economic growth in intensive agriculture and tourism. Roquetas de Mar has become one of the main settlement areas of the migrant population in Spain and Andalusia, with a percentage of almost 30% of its permanent resident population (27.182 inhabitants on December 2016). They come attracted by opportunities in the region’s agricultural economy, and despite the economic crisis, new migrants continue to arrive in the City, some seeking work and others through the right to family reunion. This population is highly diverse. The main EU-migrant population is from Romania. The main groups of third country migrants are from Senegal, Morocco, Mali, Guinea Bissau and Ghana. To answer to this reality, the city created the Municipal Office for Immigration in 1997. This service has dealt with 50.000 beneficiaries since 2002, who have made more than 500.000 requests. The Office leads on migrant integration policy and provides integration support services including: Drop in information, advice and referral services available to all migrants; Spanish language and culture classes at fractional cost; Local Forum for Integration and Citizenship The city is very positive about its increasing population diversity, viewing this as an asset.

Dicha cueva esta excavada totalmente en margas, con una longitud real de 164 metros y un desnivel total de 36 metros, con un amplio volumen en su galería. ABSTRACT The present paper describes “La Monea” cave, which is located between the municipalities of Alhabia and Terque, in the low Alpujarra of Almeria.     Entire Towns are illegal in Almanzora – and in the courts El Mundo, M. Cabrera, Almeria 20th November 2009 Original in Spanish here Agents for the Service for the Protection of the Environment (Seprona) and of the Judicial Police of the Guardia Civil under the Almerian command have in recent years handled dozens of sworn statements on illegal constructions in the municipality of Arboleas and other towns in Almanzora, especially Zurgena and Albox, following complaints in most cases by individual citizens. Among the complaints investigated is the one made in October 2006 by Ecologists in Action ( Almeria ), which reported the existence of hundreds of illegally built houses in seven districts of Arboleas, ruled by the socialist mayor Angel Garcia, and projects to build another 6,000. Among the most serious cases, environmentalists referred to the nucleus of Los Carrascos, which in that year had reached the same population as the town of Albox , and reported that further moves were being made to build more illegal houses to again double that number. The sworn statement at the time was directed to both the the Environmental Prosecutor and the Court in Huércal-Overa. The Civil Guard officers who attended the Almanzora valley to investigate complaints attested to the existence of "whole villages built on greenfield sites’, which were, of course, mentioned in the subsequent statements. Most complaints were filed around 2005 but have continued to drip feed up to this year, and for the most part the illegality of the construction has been confirmed - no secret in a region, where according to estimates of the Junta de Andalusia there are more than 5,000 homes built outside the law.

El Auditorio Universitario se vestirá de gala para acoger, este viernes día 28 de abril, a los numerosos invitados que se espera asistan al evento. El objetivo de la iniciativa no es otro que propiciar las relaciones interprovinciales y fomentar la colaboración entre los pueblos más grandes y más pequeños atendiendo al número de habitantes. Así, los quince municipios con mayor población se hermanarán con los quince con menos habitantes. La actividad comenzará a las 11.30 horas, con el recibimiento por parte del rector de la UAL, Alfredo Martínez Almécija, de los alcaldes firmantes, en la Sala de Reuniones del Rectorado. El acto académico se celebrará a partir de las 12.00 horas en el Auditorio. Tras unas palabras de bienvenida del rector, se procederá a la entrega de placas conmemorativas y a la firma de los convenios. Además, de la comparecencia de los alcaldes, un representante de la Diputación provincial pronunciará unas breves palabras. El acto contará también con una parte lúdica; la actuación de la Banda de Música de la Federación Andaluza y, finalmente, de uno de los grupos de la Federación de Agrupaciones de Carnaval de Almería (FEALCA). El hermanamiento se celebra como colofón a una serie de actuaciones encaminadas a acercar la Universidad a la provincia y potenciar las relaciones entre los pueblos.

    Segunda República, Guerra Civil y represión franquista en Padules, Almería (1931-1945) ANTONIO LÓPEZ CASTILLO Instituto de Estudios colección historia Almerienses Antonio López Castillo nació en Almería en 1958. Doctor en Historia por la Universidad de Almería; es, además, maestro y licenciado en Humanidades. Su tesis doctoral versó sobre las organizaciones republicanas almerienses durante los años treinta del siglo XX y, sobre esta década, ha publicado dos monografías: El Radical- Socialismo en Almería (1930-1934), (IEA, 2005) y El republicanismo de centro. El Partido Republicano Radical de Almería durante la Segunda República (1931-1936), (IEA, 2006). Es miembro del Departamento de Historia del IEA (Instituto de Estudios Almerien- ses) y del Grupo de Investigación “Estudios del Tiempo Presente” incluido en el Plan Andaluz de Investigación de la Consejería de Innovación, Ciencia y Empresa de la Junta de Andalucía con el código HUM-756. Ha participado en varios congresos sobre republicanismo y, en la actualidad, trabaja en la Unidad Integral de Formación del Complejo Hospitalario Torrecárdenas de Alme- ría y es miembro de la Unidad de Apoyo a la Investigación de dicho Complejo Hospita- lario a la par que continúa investigando en torno a la dinámica política y social almerien- se, desde la crisis de los años treinta a la transición política a la democracia.
