LOS ANGELES UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT FAMILY RESOURCE GUIDE Student Meals At Home Learning Tools DURING SCHOOL CLOSURES Letter from the Superintendent Dear Los Angeles Unified families, As you know, all schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District are closed for the next two weeks in response to the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). We have been following the guidance of public health experts on how we can keep all who are part of our school community — students, staff, family members and visitors — safe in the midst of a growing crisis. And while this was a difficult decision, given the needs of the Los Angeles Unified community and the social safety net that our schools provide to our children, it was also a necessary one. To help answer your questions and to lay out the resources that we are continuing to provide, we are offering this Family Resource Guide. Each student took home a continuity of learning plan on Friday, and we are offering additional support to assist students as they transition to a different way of learning. In partnership with the Red Cross, Los Angeles Unified will continue to provide nutritious meals to all students who need them during the temporary closure of schools. Our Grab & Go Food Centers will be open beginning Wednesday, March 18, and will be staffed weekdays from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Each child can take home two nutritious meals. The public health crisis created by the coronavirus is not something any of us could reasonably have expected, but our staff are working tirelessly to help our students and keep them connected to the school community. -

Staff proposes that the Board of Education (Board) ratify the contract actions taken by the Procurement Services Division within delegated authority as listed in Attachment “A” including the approval of award of Professional Service Contracts not exceeding $250,000: New Contracts; Purchase Orders; Low Value - Purchase Orders; Goods and General Services Contracts: Purchase Orders; Low Value - Purchase Orders; District Card Transactions; Rental of Facilities; Travel/Conference Attendance; General Stores Distribution Center; and Book/Instructional Material Purchase Orders; and approve Professional Service Contracts (exceeding $250,000): New Contracts; Contract Amendment; and Goods and General Services Contracts (exceeding $250,000): New Contracts; and Piggyback Contract as listed in Attachment “B”. 2. Staff proposes that the Board authorize estimated spending of goods, services, and labor for COVID-19 related expenses as listed in Attachment “C”. Background: Procurement Services staff prepares monthly reports for contract actions necessary for the execution of the projects approved by the Board for the educational and operational requirements of the District in accordance with Board delegated authority to the Superintendent. Expected Outcomes: Approval of these items will allow the goods and services provided by these contracts furnishing the equipment, supplies, or services to the Los Angeles Unified School District that support Board policies and goals. Board Options and Consequences: The Board can approve all actions presented, or postpone selected actions pending receipt of additional information. -

Beaudry Avenue 12400 Imperial Highway 21st Floor Norwalk, CA 90650 Los Angeles, CA 90017 Project Title: Grab & Go Food Centers Project Location – Specific: 63 Los Angeles Unified School District locations (see the attached list) Project Location – City: Project Location – County: Various Los Angeles Description of Nature, Purpose, and Beneficiaries of Project: The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD or District) closed its campuses from March 16, 2020 to May 1, 2020 (or until further notice) in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In response, the District, in partnership with the Red Cross, opened 63 Grab & Go Food Centers (Centers) to distribute free meals to all students who need them during the temporary closure of schools (Project).1 The 63 Centers are staffed weekdays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Each student is provided two meals to eat at home.2 The conversion of 63 of the District’s campuses to Centers (Project) are staffed with existing District staff and are located on existing District school campuses. The Centers use existing District facilities and utilities; however, the Centers may require additional facilities and utilities to respond to the demand associated with the Project.
