To Be Held at the Max Kirwin Lakes Mulwala, NSW b The South Australian Water Ski Federation Tournament Division cordially invites you to attend the 2015 WaterSki National Championships To be held at the Max Kirwin Lakes Mulwala, NSW Thursday 2nd April to Monday 6th April 2015 Entry forms to ski at the National Championships will be distributed by your state in the next few weeks. Your completed form & fees must be returned to your States Team Manager Event Correspondence/Secretary: Stacey Hitch [email protected] Event Finance: Andrew Morris [email protected] Event Committee: Dave Wallent [email protected] Jamie Mitchell [email protected] John McMurray [email protected] The site The Tournament site consists of two purpose built ski lakes, a short 7km drive from the Mulwala Township & adjoining Yarrawonga. One lake will be utilised as a jump & trick lake while the other lake will be used exclusively for slalom The lakes & infrastructure are of world class standard & have previously hosted world title events. Lake Address: Mulwala to Barooga Road, Mulwala, NSW Travel Options Mulwala is a comfortable road trip for most east coast & southern based skiers & their families. If you choose to travel by air, the best option is to fly to Melbourne International Airport. You will need to hire a vehicle from Melbourne & drive 273 kms to Mulwala which will take around 3 ½ hours. If you are unfamiliar with the Melbourne road network, we recommend that you remember to include a GPS within your rental vehicle reservations. Alternatively you may consider flying to the nearby regional airport at Albury. You will also need to hire a vehicle from Albury for the short drive of 97 kms to Mulwala which will take around 1 & 1/4 hours. Remember to ensure that your airline has the capability to transport your 3 event bags particularly if you’re using the smaller regional airlines. Accommodation The Easter holiday period is a particularly busy one for the Murray Region around Mulwala & Yarrawonga. The popularity of this region & the resultant ongoing annual accommodation reservations has left limited vacancies for water-skiers & their families, particularly those that wish to stay together as a large group. The nearby towns of Bundalong, Cobram, Barooga, Corowa & Berrigan which are a very short drive have also provided accommodation to skiers & their families in the past. The South Australian Nationals Committee hope that the information that we have provided will assist you to plan your trip to Mulwala for the 2015 National Championships. Unfortunately due to the limited accommodation vacancies in any one establishment, we are unable to provide recommendations. Please give consideration to spending a few extra days to enjoy the wonderful sights and attractions of the Murray Region, you will not be disappointed. Mulwala Weather Historically, Mulwala has a March average maximum temperature of around 28 degrees & an April average of 24 degrees. March overnight minimums average 12 degrees & 9 degrees in April. March & April are historically the lowest rainfall months of the year. Nationals are scheduled in early April, so we should expect mild to warm conditions with little rain. As an indication the weather pattern for 2014 during the same eight day period as nationals included no rain & a maximum daytime temperature ranging between 22 & 33 degrees & a night time low ranging between 13 & 23 degrees.. Introduction Southern Irrigation SOILpak aims to provide a range of best soil management practices to optimise crop and pasture yields. Soils used for irrigation in southern NSW are varied, and this manual identifies five main soil groups. Crop enterprises are also varied. The major irrigated farming systems considered in this manual are (a) rice/rice rotations, (b) summer cropping (excluding rice), (c) winter cropping, and (d) pastures. SOILpak concentrates on the skills needed to: • assess the condition of the soil with emphasis on the cultivation layer (0–10 cm) and the soil profile (0–100 cm) • understand the management options for maintaining or improving soil condition for a particular crop or pasture system. SOILpak does not aim to make the final decision for irrigators. Instead it provides soil management options which can assist irrigators to develop successful soil management strategies.

It has been an incredibly busy and rewarding 12 months. I feel very proud of what we’ve achieved in Murray during the past year and look forward to many more good news stories in the near future. No doubt there will be challenges along the way, but I am confident that we can solve these issues and continue to ensure that Murray goes from strength to strength.
