On the occasion of laying the foundation-stone of the building of the Valika Tex- tile Mills Ltd. on 26th September, 1947 www.quaid.gov.pk/speech08.htm 6 ITCN Asia - 2019 0HVVDJHV Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui Federal Minister for Information Technology & Telecommunication Government of Pakistan The Ministry of IT & Telecom is committed to its resolve for promoting and facilitating the ICT sector and in this regard for the first time in the history of the country a Multistakeholder dialogue has been initiated through IT Minister’s Forum for Youth, Innovation, Industry & Ease of Doing Business in collaboration with ITCN Asia Inter- national Exhibition & Conference to promote and facilitate growth in Pakistan’s IT & Telecom Industry. I congratulate Ecommerce Gateway for organizing their 19th Year of ITCN Asia 2019 which has played a pivotal role in the sectoral uplift. The Government’s proactive approach towards an investor friendly environment and the overall policy and governance framework has led to substantial growth in the sector. Pakistan’s ICT sector has a great potential for putting us on the path of economic growth through digital inclusivity of our youth and providing them equal opportunity at their doorsteps. The Ministry of IT & Telecom is making strides for facilitating the industry and address the emerging issues pertaining to cross cutting sectors which will be impacted as a re- sult of digital transformation. Our acclaimed telecom sector and digital policies are fully compliant to international best practices as well as local sector requirements. Sig- nificant improvement in quality and coverage alongwith other flagship projects to pro- mote innovation and skill development has set the stage for knowledge base economy and converting Pakistan into an emerging market. I am confident that our relentless efforts will help us in improving our existing standards of living in our service delivery systems, local ICT content development and linkage of IT professionals with job mar- kets which, in turn, would address the critical issues as identified by UN through Sus- tainable Development Goals for the developing countries. On this very occasion of IT Minister’s Forum for Youth, Innovation, Industry & Ease of Doing Business and the 19th edition of ITCN Asia 2019 International Exhibition & Conference, I would like to appreciate the event organizers, Ecommerce Gateway and my team at the Ministry on their hard work and expect the stakeholders of IT & Tele- com sector to deliberate on the critical issues being faced by the industry and make meaningful contribution towards further improvement of policies which ought to be dealt in a dynamic and futuristic way.
