Reports were given for recent events and outings and notices read out giving information about forthcoming events, both WI related and also upcoming dates of village events. The speaker for the evening was then introduced. This month the WI were lucky enough to have our very own Edworth born Lizzie Cree giving a talk and demonstration on ideas for flower arrangements. Lizzie started by introducing herself to those who did not ASHWELL STAGE SCHOOL know her and telling us about the flowers and equipment she had brought with her. The equipment consisted of only a pair of scissors, green sticky tape and some chicken wire and about four CHRISTMAS different types of flowers, a few grass heads and some foliage. So not much stuff really but what Lizzie did with those few flowers, stalks of grass and leaves was amazing. Out of such (to us) limited CONCERT! materials Lizzie showed us how to make a lovely table centre piece, a formal arrangements for a wedding or church and a beautiful hand-tied bouquet that would have thrilled any bride. It Big Sing! was just fascinating to see the arrangements take shape as Lizzie & talked us through the process. She made it look so easy that by *Special Guest Singers* the end of the evening we were all keen to rush home and have a go ourselves.
