Each MDC Official Member Mint and Observer Mint can enter one coin per category.

There are four categories in the Coin Competition; Category 1 – Commemorative coin - gold Category 2 – Commemorative coin – silver Category 3 – Circulating coin Category 4 – Other coin

Two separate class winners from each category are chosen; Class A – Most beautiful coin Class B – Most technologically advanced coin

Each MDC Official Member Mint and Observer Mint must supply two of the selected coin to allow for the display of both obverse and reverse.

Coins must be dated 2015 or 2016.

1. Gold Coins (Weight - 5 oz or under) a) Most Beautiful – All Gold coins containing at least 75% gold (18 Carat) b) Most Innovative – All Gold coins including bi-metal and tri-metal with or without innovation like colour, gems, high relief etc.

2. Silver Coins (Weight - 5 oz or under) a) Most Beautiful- All silver coins containing at least 60% silver b) Most Innovative – All silver coins with innovations like selected gold plating, with gems, colour, high relief etc. Also including bi-metal or tri-metal.

3. Circulating Coins (Weight - 20 gram or under) a) Most Beautiful – All base metal circulating coins with no decoration. b) Most Innovative – All base metal coins with innovations like colour, gold plating, silver plating, gems etc.

4. Other Coins (no maximum weight limitation) Includes coins made of more than 40% of metals other than gold or silver such as but not limited to platinum, palladium, niobium, titanium. a) Most Beautiful – appealing and meaningful design. b) Most Innovative coins – such as but not limited to new coin shapes, inclusion of non-metallic highlights on a coin (i.e. gems, glass, porcelain etc.,) integrates innovative features such as high relief, QR codes, augmented reality, combination of metals and all other creative features that a national coin may incorporate.

Voting Each MDC Official Member Mint and Observer Mint is entitled to one vote per category, that is, one vote per class in each category. Voting takes place by secret ballot. In the event of a draw, the deciding vote is made by the President of the MDC.
