Following an MA in Culture, Creativity and Entrepreneurship at University of Leeds, she is now doing a PhD at University of Salford investigating the role of universities as intermediaries in the cultural economy. These are created in collaboration with co-researchers, people with learning disabilities, working as part of an interdisciplinary research team. In many heritage contexts, exhibits incorporating interactive elements that are accessible to audiences use surrogates instead of original items, and are usually chosen by the curators rather than determined by the user-group. Many types of original objects are deemed to be too delicate to be handled by curators and in some heritage sites access to the objects is limited because of the complex nature of the site's environment. -
