This fall season we will be celebrating business like never before. On October 20th, we will hold our 30th Annual General Meeting and I would encourage you to consider getting involved as a Committee Member or as a Board Member. Thirty years we have been advocating for business in Kingsway. The KDA works to collect data, share it and advocate for Kingsway to be the business destination of choice in Edmonton. It is amazing that we have been doing this since 1987. We will mark this milestone with a special Gala and Business Awards dinner. I do hope all our members will join us as we look back at our 30 years of achievements and growth. We will continue to promote Kingsway as a premier shopping destination in Edmonton. Your Board and staff work very hard to ensure we are providing value to your business and overall enhancement to the area. Our members put a lot of effort into the summer clean up program this year and we saw engagement like never before. I have enjoyed my time serving as your chair and I will have completed my three terms at the end of this year and will assume the role of Past Chair. I am looking forward to guiding your new Chair and remaining an active member of the organization. We will continue to look for ways to engage our members in activities that contribute to the success of Kingsway and aid in continued growth and development for the area. A BRZ is a Business Revitalization Zone. In June 1983, the Province of Alberta passed legislation that allows municipalities to establish Business Revitalization Zones. A BIA is a non-profit association of business owners that join together to promote and improve the economic vitality of their business district. October 20th, 2017 The Kingsway District Association will be hosting our Annual General Meeting on October 20th, 2017. Our AGM will take place at the Edmonton Inn & Conference Centre at 11834 Kingsway, from 11:30am to 1:30pm in Courtyard B. We will start the AGM with a review of the activities and programs we have completed throughout the year. We will hold our annual nominations for the Board of Directors for the 2017/18 term, followed by a presentation from our auditor and approval of the 2018 Budget. Our AGM luncheon will also include our guest speaker Mr. Mark Hall, Executive Director, Blatchford Redevelopment to provide an update on the project. All Members of the KDA are invited to attend and vote during our AGM. Members will receive 1 complimentary ticket. Cost of additional tickets are $25 each and cover the cost of lunch. We had a great turn out and would like to thank everyone who came out and made this event possible. Special thanks to our sponsors of the event Preferred Client Services, Luxur Fine Cars of Edmonton and Raven Crest Golf & Country Club. 6 Edmonton Eskimos Association Day On June 30th, 2017 the Kingsway District Association held our Annual Edmonton Eskimos Association Day Business meets Football, the event was another success! The Eskimos defeated the Montreal Alouettes by a score of 23 - 19! A special thanks to the over 100 members who attended and helped make this event such a great night. Edmonton Prospects Association Day On July 6th, 2017 the Kingsway District Association held our Annual Edmonton Prospects Association Day Business meets Baseball, the event was another success! The Prospects defeated the Lethbridge Bulls by a score of 3 - 2! Thank you to the over 40 members who joined us in watching the amazing game. 7 BACK TO SCHOOL! "DRIVE SAFE. Building on the University of Lethbridge Art Department’s reputation for first class undergraduate education in Art Studio and Art History/ Museum Studies, the MFA (Art) offers those wishing to pursue graduate education in Art Studio the opportunity to be part of a community of highly active faculty practitioners and scholars. This program provides graduate students with opportunities to pursue disciplinary excellence through integrated study in theory and practice, encompassing material, critical and conceptual investigations in contemporary art, and offers an exceptional level of interaction with faculty and visiting artists. Located in the University of Lethbridge Centre for the Arts, the Department of Art is supported by excellent studios and resourced with a wide range of outstanding technical workshops and digital facilities. Lethbridge is home to dynamic arts community with nationally recognized artists and galleries.
