review 02.01.08 Executive Overview Yamaha Soavo-1 Considering Yamaha has such a good reputation with making fine instruments and some of the most reliable and Loudspeakers accurate monitor speakers ever to hit the recording industry, it’s astounding that they aren’t equally appreciated for their home audio speakers. This past Review year Yamaha aimed to change that with the introduction of their new Soavo Review by Clint DeBoer of Audioholics.com series loudspeakers. We were fortunate enough to get our hands on a pair of Introduction Soavo-1 towers - their flagship product Yamaha isn’t necessarily known for their and a magnificent-looking specimen to amazing home theater speakers. This is be sure. We got a sneak peek at these a shame, since they have such a good speakers during the 2007 CEDIA Expo, reputation with making fine instruments but now we actually get a chance to put and some of the most popular near-field them through their paces in one of our speakers ever to hit the recording industry. reference listening rooms. Just try to find a studio without some flavor of Yamaha NS-10s - everyone uses them as the gold reference standard for midrange evaluation. When I unpacked the Soavo-1 speakers into my living room - I honestly had no idea what to expect, so I began at the beginning: with a clean slate, an open mind, and lots of good music. Build Quality & Setup Unpack the Soavo-1 speakers and you’ll instantly realize that Yamaha didn’t skimp on the aesthetics or the build quality.
