Del Taco is an American fast food restaurant chain which specializes in American-style Mexican cuisine as well as American foods such as burgers, fries, and shakes. Del Taco is led by CEO John D. Cappasola, Jr., and is headquartered in Lake Forest, California

Ed Hackbarth and David Jameson opened the first Del Taco in Yermo, CA in 1964. With a menu of 19¢ tacos, tostadas, fries and 24¢ cheeseburgers, Del Taco brought in $169 in sales on its first day in business.

Del Taco thrived during the 1970s. By 1977 there were 50 restaurants and by 1978 there were 100. In 1988, Del Taco greatly increased in size and geographic reach by merging with Naugles restaurant chain. Del Taco also began to stay open all night to serve the growing needs of the new 24/7 lifestyle.

In the 90s Del Taco set the stage for extreme growth by launching a series of initiatives to improve the total customer experience and grow the brand’s image, including a new logo design. By 2006, Del Taco nearly doubled in size and opened the 500th restaurant in 2008.

In 2016 Del Taco launched THE Del Taco, inspired by the original and loaded with more of everything you love. Everything Del Taco stands for is represented by this new signature taco.

Silver City is a gem in Southwest New Mexico with forest recreation, a vibrant historic downtown, an art community, and dozens of festivals and events.

It is the county seat and the home of Western New Mexico University. As of the 2010 census the population was 10,315. In 2015 the population was estimated to be 10,004.

In 1893, New Mexico Normal School was established. It was later known as New Mexico Western State Teachers College. In 1963, it was renamed Western New Mexico University. Today, WNMU offers eight graduate degrees, 41 baccalaureate degrees, and 1 8 associate degree and certificate programs. The WNMU athletic team is referred to as the Mustangs. Recognition for the university includes the 2003 Zia Award, the 2005 Best Practice Award (for the School of Education), the 2006 Chamber of Commerce Large Business of the Year Award, the 2008 Piñon Award, and the 2008 Compañero Award.
