Councillor Cormac Devlin (Fianna Fáil) has been elected Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire- Rathdown County Council at their recent Annual General Meeting. Councillor Devlin (35) becomes the youngest Cathaoirleach of the County. He contested the General Election in February 2016. Cormac is married to Jennifer Allen who is originally from Corbawn, Shankill (pictured). They have three young children. He was first elected to represent the Dún Laoghaire area in 2004. He was educated at Harold Boys National School, Dalkey, Presentation College, Glasthule and later in theInstitute of Public Administration and the Institute Public Relations. The newly-elected Cathaoirleach outlined his priorities for his term of office, which include; tackling the housing crisis, promoting civic engagement and supporting local enterprise throughout the County. Councillor Devlin recently chaired a deputation of the Shankill Tidy Towns where they discussed several issues facing their organisation, he congratulated them on their superb work in the area and most recently he attended the annual Shankill Tennis Club Junior Open. An Cathao- irleach congratulated Ellie Murphy & Shane Dolan on their success and performance in the tournament. He acknowledged Shankill Tennis is certainly in good hands for the future and predicted “future Olympians amongst the next generation”.
