The district came into being on 15th April 1997 in the memory of famous social reformer Sant Mahatama Jyotiba Phule by combining Amroha, Dhanora & Hasanpur Tehsils of Moradabad district vide UP Gazette no. 1071/1-5-97/224/sa-5 dated 15th April 1997 whose headoffice is situated in the ancient city Amroha. The district consists of 1133 villages, 4 Tehsils, 6 Blocks & 11 Police Stations. Its geographical area is 2470 Sq. Km. Extending from Latitute 28° 54’ North to 39° 6’ North and Longitude 78° 28’ East to 78° 39’ East. The maximum & minimum height from sea level are 240ft. & 177ft. respectively. In the north of the district lies District Bijnore,District Sambhal is in the south, District Moradabad is in the east and in the west are situated districts Hapur, Ghaziabad & Buland Shahar. Ganga river separates it from district Hapur,Ghaziabad & Buland Shahar. Climate- Amroha is a city in the state Uttar Pradesh in India. It located north west of Moradabad near the sot river. It is the administrative head quarter of the Amroha district. Amroha is came in Bareilly Zone. Bareilly is 109 km from Amroha. So the actual climate in Amroha can very a bit. Base on weather report collected during 2005 to 2015. High temperature 340c , Low temperature 260c mean 300C percepation 188.3 mm, humidity 67% Dew point 180C wind 2 km/h pressure 1007 mbar visibility 2 km. Economic Profile Amroha is known for its production of mangoes;.[4] Some of the industries in Amroha include cotton & textiles, and small-scale production of cotton cloth, hand- loom weaving, pottery making, sugar milling and secondary ones are carpet manufacturing, wood handicrafts and dholak manufacturing... 4 District Name: Amroha The majority of the population of the district depends on agriculture besides the cottage industries like manufacturing of DHOLAK & KATHOLI, Handloom works are also taken up in Amroha, BEEDI in Naugaon Sadat & Cloth weaving is now taken up in Bachraun. Milk & dairy products are attracting the attention of the peoples in villages and they are being associated with it by Cooperative Societies. Amroha is well connected through Railways and Road with Indian capital New Delhi. Amroha railway station is situated on Delhi-Moradabad line and all passenger trains & most of the express trains stop here. Amroha railway station is on a line built by Oudh and Rohilkhand Railway, 868 miles from Kolkata. Amroha is about 5 km away from NH 24, a four-lane highway which connects New Delhi to Lucknow Literacy and Population Amroha city is governed by Municipal Corporation and is situated in Uttar Pradesh State/UT. As per provisional reports of Census India, population of Amroha in 2011 is 198,471; of which male and female are 103,097 and 95,374 respectively. INDIA ABSTRACT Underground water samples at ten different water sites of public places were collected and analyzed for different water quality parameters following standard methods of sampling and estimation. The water quality index has been calculated for all the sites using the data of all parameters and WHO drinking water standards. The calculated data reveals that the underground water at Sambhal, Moradabad is severely polluted invariably at all the sites of study. The present study suggests that people exposed to this water are prone to health hazards of polluted drinking water. Key words: Water quality, Water quality index, Unit weight, Quality rating. Groundwater constitutes the 30.1% of the freshwater reserves on earth. Gangetic plains in India have the highest density of groundwater extraction structures. 50 samples were taken in total from J P Nagar district of which there were 3 river water samples and 6 were groundwater samples falling just outside the district boundary. Using statistical and GIS analysis various indices were calculated. WQI or water quality index revealed a zone of high pollution across the district. Hydrochemical plots like Piper, Durov and Chaddha diagram brought out the information about the water type in the area. Mineralogy of the study area shows the dominance of feldspar minerals. Land cover change between 1998 and 2013 has been deciphered from supervised classification of Landsat data of USGS.
