Fernando Valenzuela, Sexto Beisbolista Que Recibe El Premio Nacional Del Deporte Fernando Valenzuela, sexto beisbolista que recibe el Premio Nacional del Deporte • El exjugador de los Dodgers se une a la lista de peloteros que han recibido este galardón; “El Toro” será condecorado por su trayectoria deportiva Fernando Valenzuela, con los colores de México Autor Comisión Nacional de Cultura Física y Deporte Fecha de publicación 19 de noviembre de 2020 Categoría Comunicado El Premio Nacional del Deporte (PND), que entrega anualmente el Gobierno de México a lo más destacado del rubro, ha sido otorgado a seis beisbolistas en los últimos 15 años y Fernando Valenzuela Anguamea, exligamayorista y estrella de los Dodgers de Los Ángeles, será condecorado en la edición 2020; en 45 años de historia del PND, el deporte del “diamante” comenzó a figurar a partir de 2005 en la categoría profesional. El llamado “Rey de los Deportes” ha visto la consolidación de varias figuras mexicanas, las cuales han encaminado a esta disciplina a obtener en siete ocasiones el galardón, esto luego del doblete de Adrián González Sabin, en 2011 y 2014. Previo al reconocimiento de Valenzuela, de 60 años, en 2016, el beisbol también se hizo presente en la entrega del PND cuando el originario de Sinaloa, Roberto Osuna Quintero, recibió la distinción luego de protagonizar ese año una destacada temporada con los Blue Jays de Toronto en las Grandes Ligas. En 2014, tocó el turno a Adrián González para ser reconocido con el galardón, al figurar como el mejor deportista mexicano profesional tras consagrarse, enfundado también en la camiseta de los Dodgers, como el campeón de carreras producidas en las Grandes Ligas; en aquel año, “El Titán” se hizo del PND por segunda ocasión, después de haberlo recibido en 2011, siendo el único pelotero que lo ostenta en distintas ediciones. Para el 2010, el lanzador Joakim Soria Ramos destacó entre los ganadores del Premio Nacional del Deporte; en aquella ocasión, el oriundo de Monclova, Coahuila, sumó este destacado reconocimiento al ya obtenido como el mejor lanzador dentro de la novena Kansas City Royals, protagonizando el registro de más juegos salvados en una temporada para un mexicano. Cuatro años atrás, en 2006, Marco Vinicio Castilla recibió el reconocimiento luego de haber puesto fin a su trayectoria en las Grandes Ligas como jugador de los Colorado Rockies y fue en el 2005 cuando el beisbol se hizo presente por primera vez en el PND con el tamaulipeco Jorge Luis Cantú, quien en ese entonces jugaba para Tampa Bay Rays, equipo en el que destacó con 28 jonrones.
