Under head coach Don 1982 18-3 Ward, the Statesmen were 36-17 (.679); and under Bill Marchant DSU was 131-34-1 (.789) Last season, the Statesmen 1983 1-11-1 posted a 16-3 record at Ferriss Field. 1984 19-5 1985 24-10 In 1971, the State Building Commission authorized the expenditure of $85,000 to add lights to the facility, but Ferriss and 1986 19-8 other DSU administrators made the decision to build a covered grandstand, dugouts, a press box, concession stand and 1987 19-6 restrooms. The early renovations still provided the Statesmen fans with the comfort, convenience and true baseball 1988 32-8 atmosphere that Ferriss had envisioned during his coaching tenure. Prior to the 1999 season the bleachers were renovated 1989 13-5 and a new press box was built. 1990 16-5 1991 20-5 Following the 1999 season Kinnison and his staff painted a yellow home run line on the top of the outfield fence and a 1992 15-7 red-brick backstop with netting was added in January of 2000. New Chairback seats are the latest addition to Ferriss Field. 1993 11-7-1 Completed in the fall of 2001 the seats are located behind the the new backstop at field level. 1994 16-5 1995 27-3 In 2007, the Robert L. Crawford Center was completed. The Crawford center serves as the main entrance and exit point 1996 26-2 1997 15-2 for all Statesmen baseball games. The Crawford Center features an expanded concession stand, memorabilia stand and 1998 24-4 large restrooms. It also houses the “Dave ‘Boo’ Ferriss Museum.” The Ferriss Museum is open before each home baseball 1999 16-3 game and by appointment. 2000 26-4 2001 20-0 In the summer of 2015, thanks to a charitable gift by former All-American Tim and Nancy Harvey, Delta State officially 2002 27-3 broke ground on a new all-brick grandstand, featuring chairback seats. The dugouts were brought to field level along 2003 27-2 with and storage and restrooms in each dugout. DSU dedicated Tim & Nancy Harvey Stadium at Dave “Boo” Ferriss Field 2004 25-3 on Sat., Oct. 3, 2015. 2005 25-5 2006 17-6 FERRISS FIELD IN THE NCAA DIVISION II ATTENDANCE LEADERS (2003-2017) 2007 26-3 YEAR NATIONAL RANK DATES TOTAL ATTENDANCE AVERAGE 2008 25-4 2018 No. 3 • Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field 21 15,091 718 2009 19-6 2017 No. 2 • Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field 34 13,478 613 2010 17-12 2016 No. 2 • Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field 34 19,622 613 2011 17-5 2015 No. 1 • Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field 13 7,289 590 2012 17-6 2014 No. 1 • Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field 15 12,499 833 2013 25-3 2013 No. 1 • Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field 28 24,904 889 2014 16-3 2012 No. 1 • Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field 17 13,081 769 2015 11-2 2016 24-10 2011 No. 1 • Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field 15 11,972 798 2017 20-6 2010 No. 2 • Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field 28 14,619 584 2018 16-5 2009 No. 1 • Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field 19 10,125 533 2019 7-1 2008 No. 1 • Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field 20 16,172 809 TOTAL: 55 years / 1012-307-4 2007 No. 1 • Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field 22 12,100 550 2006 No. 3 • Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field 17 9,105 536 COACHES All-TIME RECORDS AT HARVEY STADIUM-FERRISS FIELD 2005 No. 1 • Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field 26 23,249 894 Mike Kinnison: 462-98 (.824) 2004 No. 2 • Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field 23 9,089 395 Dave “Boo” Ferriss: 349-137-3 (.715) 2003 No. 3 • Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field 19 6,405 337 Bill Marchant: 131-34-1 (.789) Don Ward: 36-17 (.679)

THE FERRISS LEGACY l Dave “Boo” Ferriss, a member of the Boston Red Sox and Mississippi Sports Halls of Fame, is the patriarch of the Statesman baseball program. During his 26 years as head coach, Ferriss establishbed a lasting legacy of success on the field, in the classroom, and within the community.

The Shaw, Mississippi, native spent 46 years in baseball on the collegiate and professional levels, including 26 seasons at Delta State. A legend in national collegiate baseball coaching circles, Ferriss was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1988 after compiling a 639-387-8 record at Delta State. At the time, his coaching record ranked among the all-time national leaders at the NCAA Division II level for victories.

When Ferriss took over the baseball program in 1960, he literally had to begin in the dirt. The Statesmen played many of their games off campus due to a lack of a quality facility and Ferriss coached without the benefit of an assistant. Over the next three decades, Ferriss turned the meager program into a national power – directing the Statesmen to the NCAA Division II playoffs in eight of his last 12 years, including three trips to the NCAA Division II championships, where they finished third, second and third respectively in 1977, 1978 and 1982.

Gulf South Conference championships came in 1978, 1979, 1985 and 1988, with the Statesmen finishing second in 1981 and third in 1982. Forty-nine of his players earned All-Gulf South Conference honors and academics were always at the forefront of his teaching style, as 95% of his players went on to earn their degrees.
