But then Eve moves in downstairs. She is a preacher’s daughter, innocent and I want her. She’s my one desire. I can already feel her pull like her namesake. I want to do bad things to her. I’m going to take her innocence and forever make her mine. I will not stop until I have her screaming my name and begging me for more. Eve is not made for the city, so I don’t know how much time I had. Her family wanted her to marry another, a gentle man. But I am not a gentle man and with her right downstairs, I knew it was only a matter of time until I had her bending to me. She can’t resist me for long. I don’t care that I shouldn’t have her. She was too good for me, but that didn’t matter. She was warned about men like me for a good reason. I was going to take it all. Wrong or not, I would have her and I was never going to let her go. Description: I’m not supposed to screw my personal scheduler. Not only do I have a sterling political reputation to protect, she’s just too innocent—fresh out of college, and her first job is right here in my new office in DC. I’m not supposed to want her. I’m not supposed to look at her the way I do. I’m not supposed to notice the curves of her body underneath her little skirt suits, or the way she looks at me when she says Yes, Senator. But I can’t hold back any longer. I have to have her. The Senator is out of my league. Not only is he devastatingly handsome, he’s just on the verge of being too old for me. I shouldn’t be lusting over a man like him—powerful, attractive, and my boss. I can’t stop the dirty thoughts I have about him. I can’t stop fantasizing about him after hours… and while I’m sitting at my desk, managing his personal schedule. It’ll ruin his reputation if anyone finds out… But how can I say no? On ‘S.N.L.,’ Dr. Fauci Hosts ‘So You Think You Can Get the Vaccine’ The satirical game show on “Saturday Night Live” also lampooned Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo of New York and Gov. Gavin Newsom of California. How do you get a week’s worth of political scandals and pandemic news into a single comedy sketch? And how do you find out if you qualify for a Covid vaccine and, if so, where to get one? “Saturday Night Live” attempted to answer some if not all of these questions with an opening segment about a fictional game show called “So You Think You Can Get the Vaccine,” hosted by Dr. Anthony S. Fauci. This weekend’s broadcast, which featured Nick Jonas as both its host and musical guest, began with Kate McKinnon playing Fauci, describing herself as “America’s voice of reason and celebrity hall pass for some reason.” She said the show would “give everyday Americans a chance to vie for vaccine eligibility,” adding: “Getting the vaccine shouldn’t be a competition, but Americans will only want to get it if it means someone else can’t.” She then introduced the three-person panel of governors who would be approving or denying the requests of contestants, beginning with Gov. Gavin Newsom of California, whom she said was “hated by every single person in California except those 10 people he had dinner with in Napa that one time.” Alex Moffat, playing Newsom, gave a quick status report on his state: “Teeth — white. Bodies — tight. Covid — pretty bad,” he said. Next, McKinnon introduced Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo of New York, saying that he was “currently under fire for futzing with old dead people and also the kind of sexual harassment allegations that make you go, yeah, I could see that.” Pete Davidson, playing Cuomo, acknowledged the audience, saying, “Nice bodies, some of you.” He added, “Remember when your favorite movie was my PowerPoints? Remember, ‘Today is Tuesday’? Why can’t we go back to that?” Finally McKinnon welcomed Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, whom she said had “narrowly escaped being kidnapped by a group of men whose fingerprints probably had Cheetos dust on them.” Cecily Strong, playing Whitmer, compared herself to the other governors. “People yell at them about their policies, and they yell at me, ‘Get her!’ But hey, that’s life,” she said, swigging from a beer bottle. Among the contestants that the governors evaluated were Heidi Gardner as a woman who said she was a frontline worker because, she said, “I do I.T. for the OnlyFans website so I am busy”; Ego Nwodim as a woman dressed in a gray-haired wig, but who still suspiciously uses the word “stan”; and Bowen Yang as a man claiming unconvincingly to be a smoker from New Jersey. Join Times theater reporter Michael Paulson in conversation with Lin-Manuel Miranda, catch a performance from Shakespeare in the Park and more as we explore signs of hope in a changed city. For a year, the “Offstage” series has followed theater through a shutdown. Now we’re looking at its rebound. All of them were declared ineligible, though Melissa Villaseñor, playing a pregnant woman, was told she could receive a trial Kirkland Signature vaccine developed by Costco that came with a free pack of 24 hot dogs. Aidy Bryant made a return appearance as Senator Ted Cruz, delivering quips about Cruz’s recent vacation scandal. “It is great to be back in New York City,” she said. “I’m sorry, my arms are tired. Because I just flew back from Cancún, Mexico.” Finally, Mikey Day, playing an 85-year-old man, was deemed the first contestant eligible for a proper vaccination — provided he could make his appointment online. Davidson told him, “But if you do feel sick, make sure you leave the nursing home and get to the hospital. Wink.” Bringing the sketch to a close, McKinnon said, “The power went out at a CVS nearby. The vaccines are all going to expire so it’s first come, first stab.” Musical Theater Tribute of the Week. Here’s a bit of trivia we’ve been saving for this very moment: Before he became a nationally-known pop star, Nick Jonas was a child performer on Broadway whose résumé included roles like Gavroche in the original run of “Les Misérables.” For his opening monologue, “S.N.L.” put that history to productive use, inviting Jonas to pay homage to New York’s musical theater industry, which has been shuttered for nearly a year. Jonas sang the song “Drink With Me” from “Les Mis,” joined by McKinnon, Strong, Kenan Thompson and Beck Bennett, who updated some of the lyrics for the current pandemic moment. Sing along now: “Here’s to spending 50 weeks in our beds / here’s to making friends who live your head …” Personal Pastime of the Week. Another musical segment featured Chloe Fineman, Nwodim, McKinnon and Villaseñor as women who find themselves alone in their homes and decide to indulge in their favorite form of self-care: zoning out in front of the TV while watching murder shows. Paying tribute to this plentiful documentary form, Villaseñor rhymed, “Severed limbs found on a beach on Chula Vista / But I just kind of stare while I eat a piece of pizza.” Nwodim and Fineman shared a verse: “Dig up some bodies and do an autopsy? / Boring — wake me up when it’s Munchausen by proxy.” And McKinnon rhymed, “Bodybuilder chopped up an old lady / I watch it while I text my sister ’bout her baby.” Jonas got in on this number, too, playing Fineman’s boyfriend, who returns to inform her there’s something even better than murder shows: cult shows. Weekend Update Jokes of the Week. Over at the Weekend Update desk, the anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che riffed on the House’s vote to pass a $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package. Just like me when I’m drunk, Congress decided to spend a bunch of money at 2:30 in the morning. They passed a $1.9 trillion stimulus bill and Republicans are calling it a liberal wish list. But I don’t know, I think a liberal wish list would be: avocado toast with Chrissy Teigen, free college for pets and a hip-hop musical about Anderson Cooper starring Lin-Manuel Miranda. Senator Lindsey Graham said he’s very pleased that the bill will not include an increase to the minimum wage. Because over the years, Graham has actually grown to love the taste of fast-food worker spit. Senator John Thune said he opposed the $15 minimum wage because he used to get by on six bucks an hour as a young man. But that was like 40 years ago when rent was, like, a dollar and everybody had one porno tape. See this is why Democrats never get stuff done. You keep leaving it to a vote and taking no for an answer. When Republicans lose a vote, they storm the Capitol. Why can’t y’all get that mad? Say what you will about a guy in a Viking helmet taking a dump in Nancy Pelosi’s desk, but he will not be ignored. Weekend Update Deskside Bit of the Week. Strong returned in her role as Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, who at the start of the month was stripped of her committee assignments for spreading misinformation and endorsing violence on social media, and who was criticized earlier this week for hanging a sign outside her Congressional office that read, “There are TWO genders: MALE & FEMALE. Trust The Science!” (Her workplace neighbor Representative Marie Newman has a transgender daughter and had placed a transgender pride flag outside her own office.) In her segment, Strong described herself as “Congress’s It girl,” which she explained was a reference to “It, like the evil clown that preys on children.” Strong revealed that she was wearing a T-shirt bearing the misspelled slogan “TRUST THE SIENCE,” because, as she said, “I love science. I’m always talking science, OK? Unless that science is about climate change, coronavirus, space lasers, evolution, the metric system, the rhythm method, breastfeeding, living on Mars, Jesus’ skin color or Santa’s skin color, by the way, which is white.” Senator Scandal: A Political Romance by Chloe Lane. Soaps in Depth. Nadia Bjorlin Opens up About Leaving Days of our Lives. From Soaps in Depth – September 24, 2019. When Days of our Lives ’ Chloe became a partner in the resurrected Doug’s Place, fans had high hopes that the opera singer would be turning in some local performances. However, getting kidnapped and subsequently threatened by cartel members, getting dumped by Lucas, then having surrogate daughter Holly “perish” proved to be all that the single mother could swing. So when an opportunity to perform elsewhere for a season promised to take her away from Salem, no one could blame the harried heroine for accepting. However, for the beauty’s talented portrayer, Nadia Bjorlin, parting ways (again) with the character that she first originated back in 1999 was sweet sorrow. “It’s been an absolute honor and a privilege to be part of Days ’ legacy,” she reflected quietly to Soaps In Depth . “It’s like family over there, and I thank them for all of the years of support. And I thank the fans who’ve rooted for Chloe every step of the way, no matter what she’s done — good or bad!” But why did the songbird have to leave now ? While Bjorlin admitted that she still “doesn’t know all the behind-the-scenes workings of how these decisions get made,” she did leave with the basic understanding that having thrown an awful lot at Chloe over the past three years, the writers needed to rest the character. Plus, “I didn’t feel like it was a permanent thing, and they didn’t really present it that way,” Bjorlin shared. “They just said, ‘We’re just not going to pick up your contract until we figure out what to do with you.’” Given her druthers, the actress would’ve liked to further develop the renewed connection between Chloe and her ex-husband, Brady. “I regret that the idea of Chloe and Brady’s romance wasn’t explored because I feel like they have such great history,” she said, adding, “I actually only started to work with [Brady’s portrayer] Eric Martsolf the last few months, and I really enjoyed it. But then they decided to write me out.” Since wrapping her latest Days stint in February, Bjorlin said that she’s been “back to the grind of going to auditions and seeing what else is out there.” You can catch her this winter in the second season of online political drama BEACON HILL as the opportunist wife of a senator’s grandson (played by Days ’ former Nathan, Mark Hapka). However, most of the performer’s time has been spent with her two boys — Torin, 3, and Viggo, 2. “There has been something nice about being able to be home more with my kids, even though they are usually either glued to me or running away from me!” she said with a laugh. “I’ve been getting to see their fun personalities.” While there’s always a chance that Bjorlin could wind up being cast by another daytime drama, the actress wants to assure her DAYS fans that “this is not a good-bye.” Rather, she insists, “This is ‘See you next time!’” Nadia joins the film Faith Based. Nadia recently joined the cast of Faith Based , a film about two idiot friends who realize all “faith based” films make buckets of cash, and they set out on a mission to make one of their own. Interview with Nadia for SoapThis. Written by John Chambrone for SoapThis. I had the opportunity to meet Nadia Bjorlin on a soap opera cruise in 2010 and she has got to be one of the most beautiful people I have ever seen in my life. Her big radiant blue eyes, wavy dark hair and that smile that lights up any room…simply stunning! We here at SoapThis are HUGE fans of the amazing actress and are very excited to be bringing her to Chicago in June 22 & 23 along with fellow Days of Our Lives actors Greg Vaughan (Eric), Eric Martsolf (Brady), Kassie dePaiva (Eve), and Wally Kurth (Justin). Fans will be able to participate in a meet and greet, auction, autograph session, cocktail reception, and a breakfast with all of the stars. You can purchase tickets here. We caught up with Nadia recently and had a few questions for her. John Chambrone (JC): You have portrayed ‘Chloe Lane’ on and off for nearly 20 years now. What is the best part of playing this character? Nadia: I would say the best part of playing any character on a soap is the unpredictability of what they’ll do next…but I’d have to say that my favorite part of ‘Chloe’ is that she’s been an underdog from the beginning, being “Ghoul Girl,” singing opera music, and just being misunderstood at every turn. There’s never a lack of excitement or drama. JC: Very cool. The fans love ‘Chloe’ and are sad to hear you are leaving the show. Was it storyline dictated or were you ready for a change? NB: It was not my decision this time to leave the show, it was storyline dictated…meaning, they didn’t know what to do with my character, apparently. But that’s show business, always unpredictable, and you can’t take it personally. I’ve had many good years there and I’m grateful. And ‘Chloe’ didn’t die, so she can always return! Though, dying isn’t finite in Salem anyway, hahaha! JC: Very true! Hope they give you a proper send off (and a return to Salem in the near future.) …I know you can’t say, but we are glad you are open to a return. What do you think is so special about Days that it is one of the last four remaining soaps? NB: I think the sense of family that Days has, on and off screen, is what what has made it such a long-standing hit. I think it has always beautifully woven in all the generations, and you genuinely want to know what’s happening with all the families on the show. People watch these families grow in real time…and I think it has become a generational show for families to watch together. JC: I am hooked and watch it as soon as I get home. You guys have such a great writing staff! We have talked about trying to get you for a while and are beyond excited to finally be working with you in Chicago! NB: You’re so sweet, thank you. JC: What is your favorite part of meeting with your fans? NB: My favorite part about meeting fans is hearing their reactions to what they’re seeing on the show and also really thanking THEM for their support of the show! Because we wouldn’t be anywhere without them. JC: We welcome you into our homes 5 days a week for decades so getting the opportunity to meet you all is such a big deal to the fans. Here at SoapThis we are fans ourselves so want our fellow fans and you actors to have an incredible time! We provide the fans with plenty of time to interact with our actors, which they really like so plan on having a fantastic weekend with us! You have an incredible cast on Days . Eric (Martsolf) said that you are a big joker on set. Who do you have the most fun with on and/or off camera? NB: Oh my goodness… that’s a tough one because there are some incredibly funny people on that show. First of all, I’d have to double down on Eric’s remark about me and say that he’s absolutely ridiculous in the best way possible. Our sense of humor is very similar, so I think we can always make each other laugh. But Bryan Dattilo is hilarious…so is …it’s so hard to dislike him in scenes when he’s such a lovely and funny gentleman in real life. JC: I have heard that that ‘cranky old Victor’ is quite a nice guy in real life. You have worked with mostly all of the cast. Is there anyone you would have liked to work with that you haven’t yet? NB: It’s funny because it’s difficult to even always remember who’ve you’ve actually worked with since a lot of us socialize together off camera…. then you realize you barely end up in scenes together. I’d love to have worked with Chandler Massey because I think he’s an amazing actor…. I think I may have said 3 words to his character this entire time, hahaha! But more importantly, who do the fans want to see me work with. Hmm…. JC: The fans just like seeing you on screen! Chandler is such a cutie! I am glad he returned to the role. Well I don’t want to take up too much of your time as I know you have an infant keeping you quite busy these days too, so will end it by asking what you are looking forward to most about coming to Chicago? NB: I’m excited to just see Chicago for the first time in my life! I know, it’s crazy that I’ve never been…considering ‘Chloe’ has been there a lot over the years! Hahaha! I look forward to deep dish pizza … JC: We will make sure you get one! Last time in Chicago we played delivery persons and dropped Eric and Greg pizza’s to their rooms! …the things we do for you guys! Haha. Anyhow thank you SO much for your time! NB: Thank you! See you in Chicago! A troubled transgender woman set herself on fire earlier this week and may have committed suicide in a 'political' protest against online bullying. Oregon native Chloe Sagal self-immolated Thursday afternoon at Lownsdale Square, across the street from the Multnomah County Courthouse in Portland. Witnesses managed to douse the flames and call paramedics to the scene. Hospital official at Legacy Emanuel Hospital later announced, however, that the 31-year-old had succumbed to her wounds. Friends and family described Sagal as a 'brilliant' but 'tortured' artist who struggled with mental health issues for most of her short life. Respected in the gaming community as an accomplished developer, Sagal was also an eclectic artist with a vast array of talents and interests, known for writing her own music and forging 'authentic weapons.' 'Chloe was brilliant and rarely got a chance to show it,' AJ Luxton, a friend of Sagal's, told The Oregonian via email Friday. Hospital official at Legacy Emanuel Hospital later announced that the 31-year-old had succumbed to her wounds (Pictured: Multnomah County Courthouse) 'She created enchanting video games, she built things, she volunteered with Habitat for Humanity after Hurricane Katrina, she taught herself to read despite severe dyslexia.' Sagal also struggled with online harassers who mercilessly attacked her for her lifestyle. The online abuse ultimately escalated into a full-fledged bullying campaign that friends believe may have pushed her over the edge. Just days before her demise, police detained Sagal after receiving reports that she intended to harm herself, according to Sgt. Chris Burley (pictured), Portland Police Bureau spokesman. In 2013, Sagal found herself in the cross-hairs of what New York Magazine called 'the web's biggest community of stalkers,' a 'hate mob' known as Kiwi Farms. It was during that year that Sagal began a crowdfunding project to raise money for what she claimed was a life-saving treatment for metal poisoning. Members of Kiwi Farms, whose participants 'specialize in harassing people they perceive as being mentally ill or sexually deviant in some way,' began targeting Sagal and revealed that the money was actually being raised for her gender surgery. According to friends, the attacks left Sagal so distraught that it kept her from working and slowly ate away at her mental stability. 'One factor that made it much harder for her to get help was that whenever she talked about suicide,' one friend told the Oregonian, Kiwi Farms members 'would report her Facebook page and get it locked down. This had happened multiple times in the month prior to her death.' Just days before her demise, police detained Sagal after receiving reports that she intended to harm herself, according to Sgt. Chris Burley, Portland Police Bureau spokesman. She was taken to Unity Center for Behavioral Health for 48-hours of observation and then released.
