SEASON REVIEW HAILIE SAMPLE 6-1 l Junior l Forward Flower Mound, Texas 104 | NEBRASKA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL | 2013-14 Huskers Have Fun on Run to Second NCAA Sweet 16 Nebraska spent the 2012-13 season solidifying its spot among the top 20 women's college basketball programs in the nation. A young Husker team that featured just one senior starter and just two seniors overall on an 11-player roster, sprinted to its second NCAA Sweet 16 in the past four years. Despite playing the nation's No. 12 strength of schedule, the Huskers notched the second-most wins in school history with a 25-9 record. NU also finished second in the regular-season Big Ten standings with a 12-4 conference mark, the second-most league wins in school history. Nebraska's success translated into a No. 16 RPI in the final NCAA rankings and a No. 18 final national ranking in the USA Today Coaches Top 25. It was NU's third top-25 finish in the last four seasons. Nebraska's fan base also continued to grow in support of one of the nation's rising programs. The Huskers ranked 16th nationally in average home attendance with more than 5,200 fans per game watching Nebraska compete in its final season in the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The Huskers averaged nearly 6,600 fans per Big Ten home contest. Throughout the season, senior Lindsey Moore and junior Jordan Hooper rewrote Nebraska history. The pair became the first Seniors Meghin Williams (#10) and Lindsey Moore (#00) led Nebraska to three NCAA Tournament Husker teammates to earn preseason mention appearances, including NU's first two NCAA Sweet 16 bids during their four years in Lincoln.

HANNAH WHITISH SEASON REVIEW 104 2017-18 NEBRASKA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HUSKERS BEGIN REBUILDING UNDER WILLIAMS The Nebraska women's basketball team opened a new era with the first season for Head Coach Amy Williams in 2016-17. The Huskers were challenged by injuries, an inexperienced roster and a rugged non-conference schedule. Despite struggling to a 7-22 overall record during the season, the Huskers stayed with the process and continued to grow throughout the season. By the end of the regular season, the Huskers were clearly playing their best basketball, knocking off a pair of top-60 RPI teams - Michigan State and Indiana - at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Nebraska, which managed a 3-13 Big Ten Conference record, closed the regular season with a thrilling 76-74 overtime victory over NCAA Tournament-bound Michigan State on Feb. 26. The win for the Huskers over the Spartans avenged a 20-point loss at Michigan State on Jan. 7, a testament to Nebraska's growth and improvement during the season. "Obviously, we would have liked to find a few more 'W's' during the course of the season, but sometimes the building process and the growth process take time," Williams said. "We had some young players in our program really start to buy in, and you saw them grow throughout the season. That is exciting for the future of our program, but we know we still have lots of growing to do." A key to that growth came with the emergence of guard Hannah Whitish. The 5-9 freshman from Barneveld, Wis., erupted for a career-high 24 points to go along with five rebounds, five assists against just one turnover, and added a steal in the win over the Spartans.

Baylor's Brittney Griner headlines 2012-13 preseason 'Wade Watch' list ATLANTA (September 18, 2012) - Baylor center Brittney Griner, the 2012 State Farm® Wade Trophy winner, headlines the 2012-13 preseason "Wade Watch" list of candidates for the prestigious award, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced today. Connecticut leads all schools with three players on the 25-member preseason list. Five schools - defending national champion Baylor, Duke, Kansas, Nebraska and Penn State - are represented by two players each. Now in its 36th year, the State Farm Wade Trophy is named in honor of the late, legendary three-time national champion Delta State University coach, Lily Margaret Wade. Regarded as "The Heisman of Women's Basketball," the award is presented annually to the NCAA® Division I Player of the Year by the National Association of Girls and Women in Sport (NAGWS) and the WBCA. The preseason list is composed of top NCAA Division I women's basketball players who best embody Wade's spirit from 18 institutions and eight conferences. A committee of coaches, administrators and media from across the United States compiled the list using the following criteria: game and season statistics, leadership, character, effect on their team and overall playing ability. Notre Dame's Skylar Diggins, Delaware's Elena Della Donne and Georgetown's Sugar Rodgers join Griner on the preseason list for the third straight year. Alex Bentley of Penn State, Carolyn Davis of Kansas, Stefanie Dolson and Bria Hartley of Connecticut, Chiney Ogwumike of Stanford and Odyssey Sims of Baylor are making their second appearance on the list.

The Huskies built a 15-point lead a little more than 12 minutes into the first half, and Tennessee could never recover. The Lady Vols, who had been averaging 80 points per game, took 13 min- utes to reach 10 points in the national title game. The Huskies were led by the Final Four’s most outstanding player, Shea Ralph, who set the tone for her team defensively with six steals and added 15 points and seven assists to the victory. Connecticut earned its second national title five years to the day after its first championship win in 1995. The Huskies finished the season with a 36-1 record and avenged their only loss of the sea- son at the hands of the Lady Vols, February 2, 72-71. All-Tournament Team: Ralph was joined on the all-tournament team by teammates Sue Bird, Svetlana Abrosimova and Asjha Jones. Tennessee’s Tamika Catchings was also honored.
