View it in your browser . September 2018 Successful 'September Song' Concert Members of Ss. Philip & James Sunday Club sing 'Streets of London' On the evening of Friday, 14th September the Anglican Church in Palma hosted a superb variety show called 'September Song'. 1 of 9 19/09/2018 15:15 News from The Anglican Church Mallorca There were choirs such as the Georgie Insull Singers and Music Makers from Puerto Pollenca, we laughed at short sketches, we listened to solos and duets, some beautifully moving some decidedly funny. The evening finished with refreshments being served in the Coleman Hall beneath the church and the whole event raised a magnificent €600 for church funds. Thanks go to all of the artists, but especially to Ray Gidely who produced and Conway Jones our musical director. Two members of the evening's 'talent' who performed 'Anything you can do' Chaplaincy Harvest Festivals 2 of 9 19/09/2018 15:15 News from The Anglican Church Mallorca Ss.Philip & James Church in Palma Harvest Festival and Gift Day on Sunday, 7th October 2018 beginning at 11am Gifts of dried or tinned food goods distributed through Caritatas will be most welcome. The service will also be a GIFT DAY - an opportunity to offer a one off gift to financially support the ministry of the Church. St Andrew’s Church, Puerto Pollença Harvest Festival & Stewardship Sunday, 30th September 2018 beginning at 10am Gifts of dried or tinned food goods for Caritatas will be most welcome, as will flowers or plants for housebound members of our congregation. There will also be a retiring collection for the work of Caritatas Licensing of A New Ministry in God's Church 3 of 9 19/09/2018 15:15 News from The Anglican Church Mallorca St Andrew’s Church, Puerto Pollença Sunday 7 October, 10am Sung Eucharist with the Archdeacon of Gibraltar (Canon Geoff Johnston) Admitting & Licensing Vicky Pacey to the Office of Reader in God's Church Fr Nigel will also be re-licenced as Chaplain for Mallorca (Puerto Pollenca) at this service Archdeacon Geoff Johnston will be with us to admit Vicky Pacey to the Office of Lay Reader & to Licence her to serve in this Chaplaincy. It will be a very special day for Vicky and her family, as it marks the end of juggling nearly four years of part-time study (with the odd study weekend away in the UK), with her work – which has the demands of seasonal pressures and also other family commitments. We congratulate her on this wonderful achievement, which is no mean feat, as anyone who has done part-time study will be able to tell. It also marks the start of a new ministry within this Chaplaincy for which we give thanks to God. 4 of 9 19/09/2018 15:15 News from The Anglican Church Mallorca At the same service Fr Nigel, who is Chaplain at St.Andrew's, Puerto Pollenca, will be re-licensed for a further period to serve and lead the Chaplaincy in this part of the Island. New Anglican Communion Service at Palma Nova From Tuesday 16th October at 11.30am, the Anglican Chaplaincy will be offering a regular twice monthly service of holy communion in Palma Nova. It will be held on the first and third Tuesday of each month and takes place at the Upper Room Christian Fellowship. Thanks go to the 'Fellowship', an independent Christian community, for allowing us to use their premises which can be found at 8, Carrer Paris in Palma Nova. This is an ecumenical project with the 'Upper Room'. The service will include hymns, prayer, a short sermon, communion plus refreshments afterwards. Anyone is welcome to attend and take a full part in this new venture. Confirmation Service at Palma 28th October at 11am 5 of 9 19/09/2018 15:15 News from The Anglican Church Mallorca The Anglican Church in Palma welcomes our Bishop, Rt. Rev'd David Hamid, on Sunday, 28th October who will be leading a Sung Eucharist and Confirmation at 11am on that day. A number of members of the congregation will be Confirmed in God's Church by prayer and the laying on of hands. All are welcome to attend this lovely celebration of the growth of the Christian faith of these individuals and of our church community. Please pray for Alex, Izukuchwu, Ernest and Christine as they approach this moment in their pilgrimage. Silent Walk of Witness Against Modern Slavery Following the success of the first A21 Walk in Mallorca last year - which was organized by Jayne Conyerd & others from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church at Puerto Pollenca - the A21 Walk 2018 is being held in Palma in October. To take part in the Global Walk for Freedom, go to www.A21.org for full details & to register. It takes place on Saturday, 20th October beginning at 5pm and ending at 7pm. The walk starts at Placa de Espana in Palma. Throughout the Anglican Chaplaincy, at St Andrew’s, Puerto Pollenca and at Ss.Philip and James, Palma we will also be supporting their work as our October Charity of the Month.
