Katherine Falb ’15 has been the coxswain on the lightweight rowing varsity eight boat during the Big Red’s current of back-to-back undefeated national championship seasons. Falb shares the crew’s thoughts on successfully defending its national championship at the IRA Regatta on May 31st. rowing form and how efficiently we [the crew] row the boat. We felt Heading into the IRA National Championship weekend, there was confident using our base speed to control races from the front, without definitely a sense of pressure - not only to top off our perfect season, the need to make too many physically taxing moves to overtake or put but also to repeat last year’s victory. MAGAZINE SHOP NOW FOR YOUR CORNELL ATHLETICS APPAREL. VISIT SHOP.CORNELLBIGRED.COM Preliminary Honor Roll 2015 Dear friends of the Big Red….

Here we go! We are within weeks of the close of the fiscal year on June 30th. Please remember that gifts to a specific program remain in that account to support its operating budget AND other items that may be approved for expenditure in the future. So, funds raised over the target in one sport may not be used to assist another program to reach its goals. Our mandate is to reach 100% in every program in order to meet the expectation of our Vice-President, Provost and President. In addition, we especially want to meet our obligations to demonstrate to our President-Elect, Elizabeth Garrett, that we keep our promises. Balancing our budget by June 30th is among the most important promises we make. Yes, we are permitted to spend our targeted fund raising dollars during the course of the entire academic year – July 1 to June 30th – under the condition that we will not be in the RED when the books close! Thank you for your loyalty to our players and coaching staff. Generous support and authentic care for our programs has fostered improvement in many areas of strength and a requirement for considerable advances in areas in which we are not competitive or among the best in class. Please consider a gift to the team or program with which you are affiliated or to the “Unrestricted Fund” formally known as the BIG RED FUND FOR ATHLETICS. These dollars are applied to areas of investment during the fiscal year that leverage time sensitive opportunities or cover unavoidable budget overages. Heartfelt thanks to the thousands of benefactors who have already included Big Red Athletics and our other programs, like Cornell Outdoor Education (COE), in their philanthropy for the year!

–All the best, Andy
