Disregard the last message, it still runs smooth and looks stellar for me! Love the scenery but I am experiencing poor frame rates after the last Asobo update, this needs and update! Yeah I hope this gets done. I would love a jersey shore update. Image Upload. External Links. Why is this file hosted external? There may be several reasons. After five fantastic , Green continues to show that he can still craft masterpieces and these are the best of the best that he has to offer. This list will be looking at the top 10 songs by City & Colour based on a mix between critical reception, popularity and my own personal feelings in regards to the songs. I expect different opinions here, so please sound off in the comments with what you think the best City & Colour songs are! Honorable Mentions: There was a hell of a lot of songs that I had to cut out and they are ones that I still consider fantastic songs so I decided to chuck in a Honorable Mention section to highlight ten other songs (in no order): “The Death Of Me” (Bring Me Your Love) “Body In A Box” (Bring Me Your Love) “” (The Hurry And The Harm) “The Golden State” (The Hurry And The Harm) “Death’s Song” (The Hurry And The Harm) “Mizzy C” (If I Should Go Before You) “Wasted Love” (If I Should Go Before You) “Lover Come Back” (If I Should Go Before You) And now onto the list! 10. “Harder Than Stone” – The Hurry And The Harm. Kicking this list off is this track from City & Colour’s 4th LP. With plenty of catchy riffs that gets you tapping along and lyrics about moving on and how it is ok to be by yourself, this song is a great motivator as it forces you to do what you really want. Add in the wonder that is ’s vocals and you have a surefire winner. Peaking at #14 on the Canadian Alt Charts, this track was a reasonable success too and continued the great opening of the 4th LP. 9. “We Found Each Other In The Dark” – Little Hell. Opening the 3rd LP Little Hell, this track gets you in the mood pretty much straight away, with wailing country style guitars and a softer feel, something which the album sells you on as you go further in. With lyrics about finding each other, the song tells a hell of a tale which not only suits the slower style of the music, but adds to it and gives it more feeling. 8. “Comin’ Home” – Sometimes. This song off City & Colour’s debut album is an ideal driving song for me, as it literally details someone driving all over then finally returning home. As Dallas Green travels all over America and Canada (Even heading to the UK for a bit) he still has a desire to return home to where his love is, and with a rather stripped back musical track, the song is ideal to cruise along to whenever you are returning home. Peaking at #12 on the Canadian Alt Charts, this track was an early star in the Canadian’s catalog. 7. “Runaway” – If I Should Go Before You. Jumping to the other end of City & Colour’s career, this track off the 5th LP shows just how much change has been made to the original sound and how it still works so damn well. With a catchy chorus that relies on Dallas Green’s vocals (which he nails to devastating effect) the song is just a great foot tapping number that is pretty hard not to like right off the bat. With a sublime bridge that lets you sink into the song, this track is one of the strongest off the newest album and a future fan favorite. 6. “Commentators” – The Hurry And The Harm. One of my personal favorite tracks off City & Colour’s 4th LP, this track is literally about all the commentators who feel their opinions are validated just because they can sit at a keyboard and type. There is a certain feeling of irony in writing about this catchy song with its entertaining melodies and sing along lyrics, but the track breaks up the rather emotional album with a more upbeat track about literally telling critics to screw themselves and it is a great track to listen to no matter the occasion. 5. “Hello, I’m In Delaware” – Sometimes. A perennial fan favorite, this track is one that is deeply emotional to a large chunk of fans, as it is a song about loss and moving away from what we love. With lyrics that seem reminiscent of what we tell ourselves and others at the ending of a chapter of our life (School Graduation, Moving Cities) both we and Dallas Green know that this is a lie, and come to this realization every time we hear the song. With a rather simple musical track, the song excels in Dallas Green being able to tell the story he aims for, and here it works a charm. 4. “Map of The World” – If I Should Go Before You. This track may be an oddity on this list at the moment. Neither a single nor a track that has had much traction online, this song is so high on the list purely because of my enjoyment of the track, especially as I feel it is the strongest on the 5th LP. With an upbeat tune that is dominated by piano riffs and a guitar riff that screams travelling, the song pushes you to sing along with it and at just under three minutes, does not overstay it’s welcome and gets you excited for whatever is next. 3. “Of Space And Time” – The Hurry And The Harm. Arguably the strongest song off of City & Colour’s 4th LP, this song has often been interpreted to be about Dallas Green leaving to pursue City & Colour full time and how he is reacting to the consequences of that action. The song is a deeply emotional one as the song goes in waves, building up to each chorus before releasing in the verses. But where it hits closest to home is the bridge which has Dallas Green talking about moving on to find his true direction in life. It’s a beautiful song and one I was amazed to learn never hit any charts upon release. 2. “The Girl” – Bring Me Your Love. This track is one beloved by fans due to its ability to bring out the hopeless romantic in everyone. With lyrics about what he would do for the titular girl and thanking her for being patient while he pursues his dreams, this song is beautiful from start to finish and with the track picking up in the back half of the track as more instruments come into the song and backup vocalists sing along. The song is a happy and emotional one and one of his very best tracks. It also has the distinction of being the only song of his to peak in the UK, charting at #195. 1. “Sleeping Sickness” – Bring Me Your Love. Arguably the biggest hit by City & Colour, certified Gold in Canada and peaking at #59 on the Canadian Charts, this track is a masterpiece from start to finish, as we get a motivating musical track with lyrics about how life isn’t turning out as planned, something pretty much everyone can relate to. Featuring a verse by Gordon Downie of , this song combines everything Dallas Green knows and as a result, creates an absolute gem of a song. Full disclosure, this track also has a lot of personal significance to me, as this was the first City & Colour song that I heard (Second was The Girl. Coincidence that they are in the top two spots? I think not), hence why I adore the song so much. What do you think? Is there a classic song I missed? Sound off in the comments and let me know your order of classic City & Colour songs!
