I received my BSED from the University of Georgia (GO DAWGS!) in Middle Grades Education, my MSED from the University of West Georgia in Reading, and my Ed.D. from Nova Southeastern University. I started my career as a middle school classroom teacher. I taught Science and English/Language Arts. After receiving my master's degree, I spent some time as a Reading Specialist. I enjoyed teaching reading, but the position opened up other doors for me. I left the classroom to become an Instructional Coach. This position allowed me to bring evidence-based instructional practices into classrooms by working with teachers and other instructional leaders. Supporting teachers became another one of my passions in education. During this time, I really started to believe that kids are only as good as the adults standing in front of them. Coaching led me to accept a position as an assistant principal. I spent several years at the middle school level then became a high school administrator. Not only did I handle student discipline, but I was also in charge of instruction and continued to support teachers in every way that I could. I then decided I wanted to experience K-12 education at the state level. I became a Program Specialist in the Office of School Improvement for the Georgia Department of Education. This position helped shaped eight years of my career. I left the state to work for a non-profit organization in the area of K-12 school improvement, America's Choice. I was a literacy specialist providing school design and instructional systems to help low performing schools raise their performance. Pearson acquired America's Choice, and I continued to provide schools with on the ground literacy and leadership support. I then became the Professional Development Manager for Rourke Educational Media where I conducted professional learning and provided instructional solutions to company clients. I then decided it was time for another career move. At that time, I was a Literacy Director for a transformation/school improvement company where I provided professional learning to districts and schools; specifically in the areas of school improvement, literacy and the Common Core State Standards. This was a great experience for me, but I was on the road 20 days a month. Life on planes and in hotels proved to be too much for me so I resigned from the position. I returned to Pearson part time as an independent development consultant. In addition, I accepted a 6th grade reading position at Stewart Middle School. I returned to the classroom after 10 years, and I absolutely loved it! That was six years ago. For the past four years, I taught 8th grade Reading at Chestnut Log Middle. I was the Department Chairperson and Grade Level Chairperson. This past school year, I shifted my talents to 8th grade Social Studies. I've had great experiences teaching middle grades but was ready for yet another new challenge so I came to elementary. I'm excited and having a blast! These little people are still excited and eager to learn. I am the Gifted Chairperson and Team Leader. Being at a new school and different level is challenging, but I know will prove to be rewarding. 113 Ms. Moore (4th Grade Teacher) Hello! I am Ms. Moore.
