They compiled a number of surveys, reports and valuations of Church property in south Wales and also the adjoining counties of England. They also had a general practice, valuing properties for a considerable number of private, institutional and industrial clients. Many of the records reflect the industrial and urban development of South Wales and quite a number of the individual valuations are of land subject to compulsory purchase by railway companies and public utilities.     Extended Relevant Representations. Neath Port Talbot Country Borough Council considers that the project has the potential to have significant effects both positively and negatively upon this complex and highly dynamic coastal environment, as well as the associated communities, biodiversity and economic interests associated with it. As such, the Authority would wish to see the following relevant issues appraised through the examination process: 1) Coastal Processes and Biodiversity: These are extremely complex issues, with the project having the potential to impact directly and indirectly upon both the terrestrial and marine environments, as well as commercial and tourism economies of the area. Concerns remain about the potential uncertainties within the applicant’s submitted assessments, proposed monitoring and potential mitigation measures. Adverse impacts due to coastal processes could affect the navigable status of the River Neath through the potential requirement for addition dredging, erosion of sands from Aberavon, Port Talbot and Margam beaches, as well as the potential impacts upon the protected habitat areas of Crymlyn Burrows (SSSI) and Kenfig (SSSI, SAC and NNR). 2) Sewerage Outfall: We are concerned about the potential associated risks with the developer’s apparent preferred option to retain the sewerage outfall within the confines of the lagoon. Any failure of the proposed system would adversely impact upon water quality, but could also irreparably damage the reputation of Swansea Bay as a tourism destination. In addition such potential events would jeopardise the lagoons chances of becoming a regional resource for water sports, tourism and leisure activities as well as the proposed use of the area for shellfish farming.

    Date: 1.10.2009 Discussion Document PROPOSED RELOCATION OF BRITON FERRY HEALTH CENTRE TO A NEW PRIMARY HEALTHCARE CENTRE ON THE QUAYS, BRITON FERRY ABM University Health Board Briton Ferry GPs March 2012 1 1) Introduction Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board is continually reviewing the way we provide services to our patients, to ensure we offer the highest quality and safest services we can, within the resources we have available. This discussion document is part of that on-going process. It outlines the proposal of ABM University Health Board and the Briton Ferry General Practitioners to replace the existing Briton Ferry Health Centre with a brand new, purpose-built, modern Primary Care Centre. It is planned to transfer GP services to the new primary Care Centre and also provide some new services, which will improve the level of patient care offered in the area. We want your views and are therefore engaging with the public over these proposals from 19th March to 27th April 2012. We will be discussing these plans, and your views on them, with ABM Community Health Council before deciding how best to take primary care services forward in the Briton Ferry area. 2) Why do we need a new building? The current Health Centre was built in 1977 and was originally designed to provide health services for 8,000 patients. Thirty-five years on and there are now double this number of patients registered with the two practices. Over that time the types of services GP provide have also changed considerably. The building is now too small, not designed for modern healthcare needs, and is not able to cater for the extra demand.
