In Through Wolf's Eyes, Jane Lindskold introduced Firekeeper, the young girl raised by intelligent, language-using wolves. Abducted back into human society, Firekeeper found that, in the world of deadly human political intrigues, her training as a pack animal served her well. Later, in Wolf Captured, Firekeeper and her lupine companion Blind Seer found themselves kidnapped and dragged overseas, to the unfamiliar land of Liglimon, where humans have a different relationship to intelligent animals. Now, still in Liglimon, Firekeeper and Blind Seer respond to a request for assistance from Truth, the soothsayer-jaguar. Then, while helping Truth, Firekeeper and her companion come across evidence of elaborate investigations into kinds of ancient magics taboo in Liglimoshti culture. It appears more people in Liglimon are willing to flout this taboo than anyone cares to admit, and Firekeeper and Blind Seer decide their duty is to find out more. But Truth knows more than she's telling. She can see and trace future timelines for particular individuals, which in the past has led her into madness. Since then, the Voice that guided her out of that madness has continued to speak to her, and it's not her friend. Eventually Truth realizes that her Voice may well be a person the Liglimoshti call "The Meddler" -- a dangerous trickster figure. But Truth doesn't own up to this until far too late. Compellingly told, rich with real people and real animals, WOLF HUNTING is the latest and strongest in an increasingly and rewarding sequence of fantasy epics. "synopsis" may belong to another edition of this title. Praise for the “Wolf” novels of Jane Lindskold. “What do you get when you mix lost magic and feral children with dynastic politics, wolf social dynamics, treason, and over-ambitious, social- climbing parents? You get Jane Lindskold’s new novel Through Wolf’s Eyes and another stay-up-to-finish-the-last-page read.” --David Weber. “Her characters live—they’re real, but they are different. And the world they live in lingers in the mind; heroic, squalid, exotic, everyday. I was convinced that it went on by itself when I turned the last page. Bravo!” --S. M. Stirling on Through Wolf’s Eyes. “Exciting!” -- Publishers Weekly on Wolf Captured (starred review) “Watching Firekeeper learn about humanity and still maintain her identity as a wolf makes for compelling reading. Intricately plotted and written, Lindskold’s latest creates an utterly fascinating world that readers can thoroughly lose themselves in.” -- Romantic Times. • A CALL to DUTY BOOK I of Manticore Ascendant
A CALL TO DUTY BOOK I OF Manticore Ascendant DAVID WEBER & TIMOTHY ZAHN A Novel of the Honorverse A Call to Duty: Book I of Manticore Ascendant David Weber and Timothy Zahn Growing up, Travis Uriah Long yearned for order and discipline in his life . the two things his neglectful mother couldn’t or wouldn’t provide. So when Travis enlisted in the Royal Manticoran Navy, he thought he’d finally found the structure he’d always wanted so desperately. But life in the RMN isn’t exactly what he expected. Boot camp is rough and frustrating; his first ship assign- ment lax and disorderly; and with the Star Kingdom of Manticore still recovering from a devastating plague, the Navy is possibly on the edge of budgetary extinction. The Star Kingdom is a minor nation among the worlds of the Diaspora, its closest neighbors weeks or months away, with little in the way of resources. With only modest interstellar trade, no foreign contacts to speak of, a plague-ravaged economy to rebuild, and no enemies looming at the hyper limit, there are factions in Parlia- ment who want nothing more than to scrap the Navy and shift its resources and manpower elsewhere. But those factions are mistaken. The universe is not a safe place. Travis Long is about to find that out. Also in the HONORVERSE by DAVID WEBER THE STAR KINGDOM A Beautiful Friendship Fire Season (with Jane Lindskold) Treecat Wars (with Jane Lindskold HONOR HARRINGTON On Basilisk Station The Honor of the Queen The Short Victorious War Field of Dishonor Flag in Exile Honor Among Enemies In Enemy Hands Echoes

MORE THAN HONOR PDF, EPUB, EBOOK David Weber | 384 pages | 06 Jan 1998 | SIMON & SCHUSTER | 9780671878573 | English | New York, United States More Than Honor PDF Book One will instantly fall in love with both the protagonist - the girl and the cat. I fell in love with the characters and want to read more. Following the Honor Harrington stories in chronological order, these are back stories for On Basilisk Station , the first Honor Harrington novel. My blood ran cold as I wondered whether he had finally decided to kill me. Stirling is "A Whiff Of Grapeshot". The last entry on the workings of the universe was actually fairly interesting, especially the story of the Star Kingdom and the explanation for the "two of your Earth minutes" trope. Unfortunately he lives in the real universe. It really seemed like it could have easily been dropped into another science fiction universe simply by changing the names of a few places and groups of people. Showing The book was then padded out a bit with some universe history and backg A collection of three short stories by three different authors, all set in David Weber's Honorverse. Lady Dame Honor Harrington - starship captain, admiral, Steadholder, and Duchess - has spent decades defending the Star Kingdom of Manticore against all comers. It really had nothing to do with the "Honorverse" other than a few trappings. Average rating 3. Enlarge cover. Any additional comments? I saw a small light through the seal of the door, and when I tried to touch the handle, I had to snatch my hand back from the heat.
