He won letters in football and bas- JACK MEAGHER - INDUCTION 1989 | John Meagher played football under Knute Rockne at Notre Dame before ketball. In 1937, Fleming was named assistant football and basketball coach and served as athletic director from coming to St. Edward’s where he coached football and baseball and attended as a graduate student from 1923 to 1939 to1942. 1927. ED NORRIS - INDUCTION 1987 | Ed attended St. Edwards from 1937 to 1941 and was an outstanding football, ED NEU - INDUCTION 1989 | Neu attended SEU from 1948 to 1952. He lettered four times in both basketball and baseball and basketball player. He was an All-Conference basketball player for two years. In 1945 he joined the SEU baseball. Neu was voted St. Edward’s Most Valuable Player in basketball 1949-1950 and 1951. Neu remembers faculty and later became Athletic Director. He was the coach of St. Edward’s teams for 19 years, an official of the attending the National Catholic Basketball Tournament in Denver in March 1949 and scoring 41 points and grabbing NAIA, a Commissioner of the Big State Conference for 15 years and the Lone Star Conference for five years. 22 rebounds in one game against Texas Lutheran. VINCE RICHBOURG - INDUCTION 1989 | Richbourg lettered in baseball (shortstop) for four years and basketball DAVE ECKSTEIN - INDUCTION 1989 | Dave Eckstein attended St. Edward’s University from 1958 to1962, where he (guard) for two years during his tenure (1957-61) at St. Edward’s. In addition to being voted SEU Man of the Year earned four letters each in basketball (guard) and baseball (infield). He was named the Knights of Columbus’ Most in 1961, Richbourg was voted Most Valuable Player in baseball and Baseball All-Conference in 1960 and 1961. The Board fo Trustees appoints and directs the President who, in turn, manages the University. It provides vital policy leadership and oversight in critical areas as well as oversees the financial performance of the University. Its members are long-range planners who help define the philosophy of the University. They offer their knowledge and experience, as well as financial support, to help ensure the success of the University in its mission and commitment to Christian higher education. McMurry University is fortunate to have an exceptionally gifted and dedicated Board of Trustees. Each member has contributed in significant ways to make McMurry University the wonderful institution it is today. The role of a trustee involves serious work and a significant time commitment. The Board meets four times per year for one and a half to two days, usually on campus. A strong committee structure provides the framework for the Board to oversee the important functions for which it is responsible.
