IRDAI imposes penalty of Rs 1.01 crore on Cholamandalam MS GIC  The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has imposed penalties of Rs 1.01 crore on Cholamandalam MS GIC.  The insurer was penalised for violations observed during an inspection.  The penalty of Rs 1 crore is for violation of Clause 15 of Schedule I of IRDA (Health Insurance) Regulations, 2013 which clearly specifies that no commission shall be payable to any intermediary on the acceptance of a ported policy. No govt. jobs in Assam for people with more than two children  The State Cabinet of Assam has decided to make government jobs out of bounds for people with more than 2 children. The policy will come into effect from January 1, 2021.  The Cabinet also adopted a new land policy that will make the landless indigenous people eligible for 3 bighas (43,200 sq. ft.) of land for farming and half a bigha for constructing a house.  The beneficiary will be able to sell the given land only after 15 years of use. AP approves Rs.2,500 crore proposals for infrastructure development  The Arunachal Pradesh State government’s Cabinet Committee for Infrastructure (CCI) approved proposals worth Rs.2,500 crore for infrastructure development of the remote north-eastern state.  The approval was decided at a CCI meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pema Khandu.  The approval will take up capital works pertaining to various departments across the state. 1st India-Bangladesh Stakeholders’ meet in Guwahati  The 1st India-Bangladesh Stakeholders’ meet was held in Guwahati. TuhinKanta Pandey appointed as secretary of DIPAM  The government has appointed TuhinKanta Pandey as secretary of the department of investment and public asset management (DIPAM).  He will replace Anil Kumar Khachi. Pankaj Kumar appointed as new CEO of UIDAI  The Government of India appointed IAS officer Pankaj Kumar as the new CEO of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).  He is currently Additional Secretary in the Ministry Of Electronics and IT.

Praveen Kumar wins gold in Wushu World Championship  Praveen Kumar has become the 1st Indian man to win a gold medal at the Wushu World Championships.  He defeated Philippines’ Russel Diaz by 2-1 in the men’s sanda event in the 48kg category of the 15th World Wushu Championships held in Shanghai. Indian Army to conduct 2019 “Sindhu Sudarshan” exercise 2019 in Rajasthan deserts  The Indian Army (IA) is to conduct exercise codenamed “Sindhu Sudarshan” for the year 2019 in the deserts of Rajasthan from November 29 to December 4, 2019.  The aim of this exercise is to evaluate the capability of the defence services in an integrated air- land battle. Centre plans to set up PM KISAN call centre  The government is planning to set up a PM Kisan call centre to respond to the queries of the farmers about the PM Kisan minimum income support scheme.  The centre will provide a dedicated round-the-clock interactive voice response (IVR) system. Under the PM Kisan scheme, the beneficiaries will get Rs.6,000 a year in three equal installments. Chenani-Nashri Tunnel renamed as Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Tunnel  J&K’s Chenani-Nashri Tunnel, a 9 km-long tunnel that reduces the distance between Jammu and Srinagar by 31 km has been renamed as Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Tunnel.  The ‘Chenani-Nashri Highway Tunnel’ is not only India’s longest highway tunnel but also Asia’s longest bi-directional highway tunnel.  The renaming of the tunnel aims to preserve Mukherjee’s heritage and memory as well as a tribute for his sacrifice for the nation Odisha approved Rs.3,208 crore under ABADHA scheme  Odisha cabinet approved projects worth Rs.3,208 crore under Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture (ABADHA) scheme.  Under the scheme for Odisha’s Puri to develop as World-class Heritage city.  The number of pilgrims who are visiting Puri is expected to increase in number. Kais Saied sworn in as Tunisias president  Kais Saied was sworn in as Tunisian president on 23 October 2019.  He won a landslide victory in the election. ndia ranked 63rd in World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Ranking  World Bank has released Ease of Doing business Rankings which includes 190 countries.  As per the rankings, India has jumped 14 places and has been ranked at 63rd among 190 countries.  New Zealand and Somalia retained their 1st and 190th spot respectively.  The indicator measures the performance of countries across 10 different dimensions in the 12- month period ending May 1, 2019.  From 2020, the World Bank has expanded its ease of doing business survey to 2 more cities: Bengaluru and Kolkata in addition to Delhi and Mumbai that are currently surveyed. The scheme of state government will help in achieving the goals set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mukhya Mantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana: ♦ Under the scheme, cash amount of Rs.15,000 will be provided to every family in which a girl child takes birth. ♦ The state government will direct transfer funds in the account of the registered girls in a phased manner when a girl child will complete various achievements, like vaccination, admission in class 1, 5, and 9, graduation.
