Local Matchups Friday LIU at Hofstra, 7:00: After LIU’s fabulous run to the NCAA Tournament last, the Blackbirds have become one of the hottest programs in the NY Metro area. With six of its top eight players back, led by junior forward Julian Boyd the Blackbirds could he a handful for Hofstra. As for the Pride, Mo Cassara’s group could be one of the most underrated in the area. Sure, Charles Jenkins and Greg Washington are gone, but Mike Moore, David Imes, Stevie Mejia, Nathaniel Lester and Shemiye McLendon are all experienced players. It should be a good one in Hempstead. Stony Brook at Indiana, 7:00: Stony Brook and its followers have waited an entire off season for this matchup. With so much talent back and several newcomers expected to create an immediate impact, no one would be shocked to see the Seawolves win this game. Senior guard Bryan Dougher, redshirt junior forward Tommy Brenton and senior Dallis Joyner have been the key elements to Stony Brook’s rise. The Seawolves have had winning seasons two of the last three years and have finished .500 or better in the America East the last three years.

Photo Courtesy: Denis Concordel / www.widgic.com Brooks: Do Numbers Favor Buffs Down Final Stretch? Release: 02/26/2013 Courtesy: B.G. Brooks, Contributing Editor BOULDER - March is a couple of days away, which means Madness isn't far behind. 'Tis the time of season when college hoops and its soon-to-be-wacko fans can start paying serious attention to bracketology and RPIs - and if I have to footnote either term, you might as well stop reading here. Game Notes at Stanford After practice the other day, Colorado coach Tad Boyle conceded he pulls up bracketology on his desktop computer about "once a week - and I shouldn't admit that." He also "checks our RPI daily; that's a number I'm pretty dialed into." And why should Boyle forbid himself to peruse either? Although he's a strict one-game-at-a-time guy, he's got a little more invested in Buffs basketball than you or me. But like you and me, he's keenly interested in various seers' mid-March forecasting and where his team might land. "It's part of the world we live in," Boyle explained. "I don't focus on it, I can promise you that. When I come to practice I don't think about it. I don't think about it before I go to bed.

The Rage Page Volume IX Issue IX The Official Newsletter of the Maize Rage 8 January 2008 “Everything looks good in practice for the most part. I really don’t know what the problem is. We just have to make shots in the game.” … Freshman guard Manny Harris Not even Manny Harris can say exactly what the problem has been so far with this team. All we know is that progress is coming slower than many expected. At Purdue on Saturday, the Wolverines hung right with the Boilermakers for most of the first half before Purdue got hot from long-range and built a 14-point halftime lead. But Michigan battled back and went on a run of their own, cutting the deficit to just two in the second half before falling short, 65-58. Indiana had a tough time with a hot-shooting Iowa team in their Big Ten opener, squeaking by, 79-76. If Michigan shoots the ball like Manny says they’ve been doing in practice, the upset is not out of reach. Here is the projected starting lineup for the #11 Indiana Hoosiers (12-1, 1-0 Big Ten): 1 Armon Bassett 6’1” G Shot 1-for-9 in IU’s loss at Crisler last year; claims he’s Sebastian Telfair’s “biggest fan,” and says IU is “probably not right now” a title contender 23 Eric Gordon 6’4” G ESPN reported that he played Michael Jordan’s son in Space Jam, but actually it was just an actor of the same name (not Kirk Herbstreit’s fault this time) 13 Jamarcus Ellis 6’5” G Nicknames include “Tom Tom” and “Tone Tone;” remains tied at the hip to junior DeAndre Thomas (#2), his high school, JuCo, and college teammate 30 Mike White* 6’6” F Planned to redshirt this year (despite being a senior!), reversed course in Nov.

  • Phoenix Suns' Eric Bledsoe Requests Trade: Two Potential Trade
Phoenix Suns’ Eric Bledsoe Requests Trade: Two Potential Trade Partners Author : Andrew Parrish The NBA Twitter-sphere has been ablaze over the weekend due to the recent tweets and reports regarding the status of Eric Bledsoe’s relationship with the Phoenix Suns organization. The Suns, who have had a rocky 0-3 start behind the worst point-differential in the last 10 seasons over the first 3 games of a season, have been the worst team in the NBA, and it’s not really close. Bledsoe, arguably the best two-way player on the Suns, was not happy with how the direction of the franchise was headed, and finally decided to tweet out his frustrations publicly. Considering the relative weakness in Phoenix’s position and ability to negotiate a more fair package to 1 / 3 offload Bledsoe, here are a few potential suitors for Bledsoe’s services, as well as a potential package that each would send to Phoenix. Milwaukee Bucks Receive: Eric Bledsoe Send: John Henson, 2018 first round pick (lottery protected in 2018 and 2019, converts to 2020 and 2021 second-round picks if not conveyed), cash This trade is one of the better packages that the Suns can hope to get out of Bledsoe. John Henson is a serviceable defensive power forward option that can play at both the 4 and the 5, which Phoenix could use in a desperate way. They are allowing a league-worst 58.5 eFG%, as well as a league worst defensive rating of 120.8, which is on pace to be the worst defensive rating in league history, which has been tracked back as far as 1973.
