1.B.1 Setting Up the Computer

SundayPlus uses “Dual Video” to display both the operator and congregation views. 1.To set up your system for dual video, connect your computer to a projector or TV. With all equipment turned on, Right click on your Windows® Desktop, and select “Properties”. 2. Select the “Settings” tab. On the control screen you should see two “virtual monitors”, labeled 1 & 2. Select 2. Below, you will find a check box labeled “Extend My Windows Desktop onto this Monitor; check it. Select “OK”. 3. Screen resolution settings should be 1024 x 768.

These settings will make the SundayPlus Control Panel Appear smaller than the computer screen. Not only is this set-up optimal for your system, it also provides the Drag and Drop benefit that makes SundayPlus that much easier to use.

2.C.3 Image Files

Drag and Drop the images from Windows® onto SundayPlus. Use the following file formats…

Adobe PhotoShop™ (.psd) Each Cue can hold only one Background (.bmp) Image or Movie and one Text File. If GIF (.) you want to display a different PNG (.png) background with each verse of a song, JPEG (.jpg and .) you will need to break the song into a PICT (.pct and .) series of cues. TIFF (.tif and .)

Do not overload your BIN with images. Images are actually OPEN and taking up RAM when you LOAD them into the BIN area. The more images you bring in the more memory is used. If you have a Large Slide Show, try placing the images in a PowerPoint® Presentation and then insert that ppt file into SundayPlus or use a Nested Cue.

If you want to know more about Images, select TOOLS and HELP inside of SundayPlus.

7 2. Basic Usage SundayPlus 2.4 Quick Reference Guide

2.C.4 Movie Files

Drag and Drop Movies from Windows® onto SundayPlus. Use the following file formats… SundayPlus prefers Quicktime® movies. We’ve found the best settings usually come from the Sorenson™ family of CODECs. More specifically, Sorenson3™ works well in most systems.

DV Movies This popular format carries the "." extension.

QuickTime Movies™ These files carry the ".mov" extension.

MPEG-1 or MPEG-4 These are nicely compressed files that were defined by the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG). SundayPlus supports the MPEG-1 and MPEG-4 (and MPEG2 with the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component add-on available from www..com) formats. These files carry the ".mpg" extension.

AVI These files carry the ".avi" extension.

Macromedia Flash Movies These files carry the "." extension.

QuickTime VR Here's something you don't find everyday! SundayPlus will load and play QuickTime VR. Like the Flash files, you may access some of the interaction by using your mouse on the projector or audience screen. While these files also carry the ".mov" extension.

2.C.5 Movie Prep

Movies will appear in the BIN as a BLACK Thumbnail. Right click on the BLACK square and select “PREP”. The Movie Prep Window will open. Click on the picture and the thumbnail will be set to that picture. Also on the Prep window you will find a Loop Button and volume control.

If you want to know more about Movies, select TOOLS and HELP inside of SundayPlus.

2.D Additional Media Types:

Right-click on any open cue. You will find three options to insert media…

2.D.1 Nested Cue

A Nested Cue will allow you to “link” from one Cuelist to another. This tool is very useful if you have a lot of slides or if you have Different people working on different areas of the same service. Look in HELP for more information on Nested Cue.

2.D.2 PowerPoint®

PowerPoint® can be played though SundayPlus 2.4. The link between the two is PowerPoint® Viewer 2003. This viewer allows for full PowerPoint® support.

1. Make sure that the PowerPoint ® Presentation you are wanting to show is located on the computer hard drive and the file is NOT Read Only. 2. Make sure that PowerPoint® is NOT running 3. Make sure that you have only one instance of PowerPoint® Viewer 2003 installed (and no other version of the viewer) 4. Make sure that your computer display settings are 1024 x 768 (or 800 x 600) on both monitor 1 and 2

PowerPoint® presentations will only show on a full congregation screen. If you run one inside of SundayPlus and you are not hooked up to a projector, you will only see a small corner of the projection. You can see it, however, if you set your computer screen to full coverage (CTRL+1) before opening the PowerPoint® presentation in SundayPlus.

2.D.3 Sound SundayPlus will play ., ., .mp4, .aiff and .midi files. Insert the file and click on it to start. Three ways to stop it… Key “S” (Stop), Key “L” (Bail to Logo), Key “B” (Bail to Black)

If you want to know more about additional media, select TOOLS and HELP inside of SundayPlus.

9 2. Basic Usage SundayPlus 2.4 Quick Reference Guide 2.E.1 GoFile: Don’t Leave Home Without it! A GoFile is a tool in SundayPlus that allows the user to create a Cuelist in one location and move it to another location, without loss of data. If you try to move a Cuelist (.cst) on it’s own, the associated files will not move with it. The key to understanding this is that the files “loaded” in SundayPlus are actually located on your hard-drive. SundayPlus only “links” to the files, it doesn’t contain any actual files. 1. Complete your Cuelist for your worship service and Save it. Name the file with the date that you are preparing (ex:20FEB05_10AM). This will be the created Cuelist (.cst) 2. Select File and GoFile. 3. A dialog box will open; select the created Cuelist from the files listed and select the “Open” button. A folder will be saved to your desktop with the same name. This is the GoFile. The folder will contain a copy of the Cuelist and all of its linked files. 4. Remove the created Cuelist that is outside of the GoFile. Now the only Cuelist should be the one inside the GoFile. Not necessary, but will help with file management. 5. You can transport this “folder” via CD, USB Memory Stick, email or across a network.

Trouble Shooting SundayPlus 2.4 Quick Reference Guide

SundayPlus is really slow and keeps locking up. What can I do? 1. Don't run other software while using SundayPlus Your computer will have to share processing power and memory with any applications that are running. Exit any unnecessary applications to free up as much space as possible for SundayPlus. 2. Don't run anti-virus or system level utilities while running SundayPlus This would include things like vendor support agents or monitors. If you are running any kind of crash detector, memory monitor, etc., you are diverting processing away from SundayPlus. 3. Don't run disk compression with SundayPlus 4. Don't run media from CD, floppy drives, Zip drives, or other removable media The speed with which the media is accessed will be less than what you would expect from your hard drive. 5. Install the latest patch or fix for Windows and SundayPlus 6. Always preview your "planned" program, including all media This alerts you to possible issues, such as missing media files. 7. If you can, run SundayPlus on a machine that is disconnected from a network Network latency will bog your machine from time to time, with no predictability. 8. Don't run your system without copious amounts of free, contiguous space SundayPlus is going to tell Windows to use "swap" space for storage. If you have limited space or a fragmented hard drive, the swap process will bog dramatically. Now may be a good time to run a de-frag program on your hard drive. 9. Set your System to 1024 X 768 SundayPlus is programmed to run most efficiently at 1024 x 768. 10. Use up-to-date drivers for your display adapter(s) and all system components Normally, getting display drivers from your computer vendor is better than using the drivers that come with your version of Windows. 11. Run a Disk Clean-Up once a week, to remove temp files This is especially important if you are using the internet on the same system. 12. Run a disk Defrag once a month for regular maintenance Monthly maintenance will help to keep your system working at a steady pace.

16 3. Trouble Shooting SundayPlus 2.4 Quick Reference Guide SundayPlus won’t open. What needs to be done? 1. Check to make sure that your system matches the requirements for running SundayPlus. Look at the front of this Reference Guide for System Requirements. 2. Make sure that your system has enough memory available. Left click on the START button, select All Programs, Accessories, System Tools and System Information. On the right side look for Available Physical Memory. Make sure that you have more than 90Mb available. SundayPlus 2.4 opens with 90Mb, but can require a lot more to run. 3. Close SP.exe and Ripped Text Viewer Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Go the “Processes” tab. Select “SP.exe”. Click “End Process”. Now select “Ripped Text Viewer”. Click “End Process”

Why am I getting “script errors” when I try to drag items around in the Cuelist, or use the replicate function? Your system requires 16bit color. Right click on the Desktop, Select Properties, then Settings. Set the color quality to 16 Bit in both #1 and #2. The problem should disappear. Some of the files are showing Yellow and Black lines. What happened to the files? 1. The file(s) are no longer in the same location that they were when they were loaded. Using a GoFile will help to avoid this problem. 2. You are attempting to use files from a disk you have removed Copy the files onto the hard drive of your computer. Then load the file, or put the disk back in the drive, then reload the CueList 3. The files were moved to another folder. Place the files back in the original location or reload them. When I place Images into the Image Bin I get an all black or all white image or the program crashes. What is causing this? 1. Memory is too low: If your images are 100:1 compression and are "only 200k", it will become inflated or decompressed to 200k x 100. The math says it inflates to 20,000k or 20meg. So if you have 100 such images loaded into the Cuelist, you're looking at 2,000,000k (2 gigs). And that's just for the media, to say nothing of the OS or other programs. If you want to know more about SundayPlus, select TOOLS and HELP inside of SundayPlus.

17 3. Trouble Shooting SundayPlus 2.4 Quick Reference Guide

When I try to run SundayPlus, I get a "Director Player Error" and/or "Script Error". What could be causing this? A. QuickTime is not installed: Make sure you have the latest version of QuickTime installed. You can get it either from the SundayPlus CD, or from www.apple.com/quicktime/ B. File names are too long: This can happen when the file that you are saving is buried too deep in Windows. (Example: “ I_Have_The_Greatest_Love_For_Jesus” is the name of the song. The system actually reads the song as the name and the path. If you load this into a sub folder the name could look something like this…”C:\Program Files\Grass Roots\SundayPlus 2_4 Media\Songs\New Songs\ I_Have_The_Greatest_Love_For_Jesus.ptf” (Approx.109 Characters long) Try saving your files “closer” to the top. C. The link to the file or the file itself is corrupt. The most effective way to avoid this is using GoFiles. However, not all corruptions can be avoided. You may need build a new cuelist if you encounter a corruption. How do I clear a "Director Player Error"? 1. Close SundayPlus Wait 5 Seconds 2. Re-Open SundayPlus Once you double-click on the icon to re-open SundayPlus and the SundayPlus start-up sequence begins, click anywhere on SundayPlus and hold down the key “U”, commanding SundayPlus to open a new Cuelist. OR 1. Close Sunday Plus 2. Open the Registry Left Click on Start, Select Run. Type in regedit. 3. Clear the Cue Find: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Grass Roots/SundayPlus/Current. On the right side find Last Cue File. Right click and Delete it. Close the Registry 4. Open SundayPlus

***Build a new Cuelist*** The last Cuelist you were working with may have a corruption or an attached file that has been moved or replaced, causing the Cuelist to be unusable.

18 3. Trouble Shooting SundayPlus 2.4 Quick Reference Guide

How should I set QuickTime? Every system is different, some work better with "Safe" mode setting others with "Options". Try different settings to get the best results… 1. Open QuickTime 2.
