NORTHWESTERN MEN’S BASKETBALL » IN-GAME NOTES Feb. 13, 2021 • at #25 Rutgers, Game 18 TEAM NOTES ● Northwestern went on a 10-0 run over 3:48 to take a quick eight point lead in the first half. ○ The Wildcats held the Scarlet Knights scoreless for 4:32 after their first offensive possession. ● Northwestern forced the Scarlet Knights to seven consecutive misses from behind the arc to start the game. ○ The Wildcats held Rutgers to 10% from behind the arc in the first half. ● The Wildcats went on a 11-0 run in the middle of the second half to decrease the deficit to three points. ● Northwestern held Rutgers scoreless over a 7:58 stretch in the second half. ● The Wildcats held Rutgers to 64 points for the second time this season, and is only one of three teams this season to hold Rutgers below 65 points. ● The Wildcats finished with seven blocks for the second consecutive game. The last time the Wildcats had at least seven blocks in back to back games was in November 2017 against Creighton and La Salle. ○ The last time the Wildcats had at least seven blocks in back to back conference games was in January 2014 against Purdue and Iowa. INDIVIDUAL NOTES ● Pete Nance finished with eight points, seven rebounds and two blocks. ○ Nance collected every Wildcat rebound (3) over a 6:21 stretch in the first half. ○ Nance has recorded at least seven rebounds in seven consecutive games, the longest streak of his career. ○ Nance’s 82 rebounds is the fourth most by a Big Ten player in conference play. ● Anthony Gaines scored a season-high 11 points in the first half, tying a career high with two three-pointers made and grabbed a team-high four rebounds. ○ Gaines finished with a season-high in points (11), three-pointers made (2), and field goals made (4). ● Ryan Young finished with a career-high three steals and a season-high two blocks … the last Wildcat Center to have at least three steals was Dererk Pardon on Dec. 21, 2018 against Oklahoma. ● Chase Audige scored 11 points behind a 2-of-3 performance from behind the arc. Audige has now scored in double figures in four consecutive games, the longest active streak for the Wildcats. ○ Audige’s 24 steals in conference play lead all Big Ten players.
