For Immediate Release October 15, 2013 CONTACT: Mario Piscatella (603) 2713664 [email protected] Statement of Speaker Terie Norelli on Medicaid Expansion Commission Report CONCORD Earlier today the Commission to Study Medicaid Expansion voted to approve their final report. Speaker Terie Norelli issued the following statement: “The Commission did a tremendous amount of work, analyzing a variety of options and considering potential outcomes. They worked hard to find the best possible solution for New Hampshire and we owe them our gratitude for their thorough efforts.” “I would like to thank Representative Cindy Rosenwald and Dr. Travis Harker for the time, effort, and wisdom they gave to the commission and Representative Tom Sherman, M.D. for stepping forward with a compromise proposal that received strong support in the committee.” “Through the private insurer based managed care system and an expansion of the Health Insurance Premium Payment (HIPP) Program, the Commission’s recommended New Hampshire Access to Health Program would maximize private coverage and minimize cost to the state. I look forward to continuing to work together with Senate Leadership and Governor Hassan to reach an agreement to expand access to healthcare for working families across the state.” Earlier today Governor Maggie Hassan announced that she will ask the Executive Council on Wednesday to support calling a special session for November 7 through November 21, dates discussed with and agreed to by the Governor, Senate President Chuck Morse and Speaker Terie Norelli. # # #.
