A local woman who has been climbing the ladder in the music world has two im- portant “gigs” this month, and she’ll be performing her original tune, “Columbus County,” at an Al Green con- cert in front of 3,000 people. Jo Gore and The Alterna- tive recently performed on the UNC-TV show, “Carolina Now,” and the band’s segment will air on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Gore, a vocalist, and acous- tic guitarist Bo Lankenau will open the Al Green concert at the Durham Performing Arts Center on Sept. 19. Gore will pay homage to her roots by singing “Columbus County,” which will be featured on her upcoming release, “The Herstory of Josephine Gore/ Return of the Articulate Kins- man Vol.1.” (See lyrics in ac- companying article) The Jo Gore and The Alter- native full band album release show will be held the next day (Thursday, Sept. 20) at the Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro.
