Contact Pinar via [email protected] Turkey Territory Update February 2017 2 © 2017 ACCUCOMS International BV ACCUCOMS represents in Turkey: Recent Events On July 15th 2016, a coup d'état was attempted against state institutions and President Recep Erdoğan. The coup failed, but the aftermath of the coup attempt and current engagement in military operations in Syria made Turkish economy face geopolitical headwinds and unsettled political conditions. Furthermore, Turkey suffers regular explosions/terrorist attacks in central cities in the country. GDP growth is estimated to have slowed to under 3% in 2016, but is projected to pick up gradually to around 3¾ per cent by 2018. Uncertainties are high, causing a currency increase, but fiscal, prudential and monetary policies are supportive and should spur household consumption from late 2016 onwards. New and generous incentives have been introduced to stimulate business investment, which, however, has stayed subdued so far. For private investment to pick up, it is important to durably restore confidence by implementing high-priority structural and institutional reforms. Turkey Territory Update February 2017 3 © 2017 ACCUCOMS International BV Library Update Since July 2016, there have been lots of changes in Turkish Universities, especially in state universities. According to Turkish government, the people behind the coup attempt were mostly infiltrated in the Turkish education system, in addition to the military. Turkish government declared a state of emergency for three months, which was later extended another three months, and all government personnel are going through an investigation. Directly following the coup attempt, the government closed fifteen private universities which were claimed to be funding the terrorist group that they consider to be behind the coup attempt. The buildings of these universities (not students or employees) were transferred to their guarantor universities. Their budgets were completely shut down, and all payments stopped indefinitely. The students were transferred to other private universities, but most employees are out of jobs now. The universities that were closed are: • Ipek University(Ankara) • Turgut Ozal University(Ankara) • Bursa Orhangazi University(Bursa) • Zirve University(Gaziantep) • Canik Basari University(Samsun) • Kanuni University(Adana) • Selahattin Eyyubi University(Diyarbakir) • Izmir University(Izmir) • Fatih University(Istanbul) • Gediz University(Izmir) • Meliksah University(Kayseri) • Suleyman Sah University(Istanbul) • Mevlana University (Konya) • Murat Hudavendigar University • Sifa University(Izmir) (Istanbul) Besides that, Turkish government asked all deans and rectors of government universities, which was about 1500 people, to step down immediately. At the time, government officials did not know which ones were supporting the coup and which ones are not, so this was the easiest option. During the state of emergency, the government furthermore suspended thousands of people working in universities at both academic and management positions. Some of them were expelled, some are still going through investigation and a very little portion of these people came clean and returned to their jobs. In the aftermath of the coup, ACCUCOMS tried to get as much information as possible from librarians at Turkish universities about their current situation. Most of these university libraries were somehow affected by the coup attempt, mostly because of management changes in the university (and in some libraries). Library budget holds a big portion of university budgets in Turkey, and the new people in management positions are usually very cautious and unwilling to spend any extra money on new subscriptions. Even at the universities where management was not changed, they have started to behave more cautious now because of the ongoing investigations. Not affected Budget 32% 43% Management problems Management and Budget 14% 11 % Figure 1 – Chart showing how the institutions are affected by the aftermath of the coup attempt Expectations for the Future The expectation is that, despite management changes at many universities because of the coup, current business will go on as it did before. However, the circumstances have caused an unstable Turkish currency, with foreign products becoming more expensive. Because librarians are unsure about the exchange rate when they will pay for their subscriptions, they are a bit cautious to renew subscriptions. With an uncertain foreign value of their (often decreased) budget, the new sales expectancy in 2016 and 2017 is much lower than it was before. ACCUCOMS expects that new sales in Turkey will be about half of the 2015 achieved sales, at best. The attendance of Turkish librarians and companies of the annual ANKOS conference, held in April 2017, is not expected to be affected. The fear however exists that publishers from outside of Turkey will hesitate to attend. Patients and methods: Ninety-three BD patients (45 males, 48 females; mean age 33.15±8.99 years; range 17 to 65 years) and 125 controls (58 males, 67 females; mean age 28.33±7.31 years; range 18 to 62 years) were genotyped by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism method. The genotypic distributions in BD patients and controls were consistent with the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. Results: Significant differences were observed between BD patients and controls in terms of genotypic distribution. Frequencies of alanine (Ala)/Ala, Ala/valine (Val), and Val/Val were 14.0% (n=13), 45.2% (n=42), and 40.9% (n=38) in BD patients and 21.6% (n=27), 53.6% (n=67), and 24.8% (n=31) in controls, respectively (p=0.033).

The study uses pre- and post- tests control group design. Experiment and control groups consisted of a total of 30 six-year-old children who were enrolled in nursery school. Experiment group consisted of 15 children; control group consisted of 15 children. The mothers of the children in experiment group were provided communication skills training for 13 weeks. SSES (social skills evaluation scale) was administered to the children before and after the training. The results of pre- and post- tests were compared and the effects of mothers’ training program on the social skills of the children were investigated. The greatest need of the individuals as social beings is to be accepted by the social environment.     URAP 2019-2020 DÜNYA ALAN SIRALAMASI BASIN BİLDİRİSİ 13 Mayıs 2020 URAP (University Ranking by Academic Performance) Dünya üniversitelerini bilim alanlarına göre sıralayan 8 kurumdan biri olan URAP; kar amacı gütmeyen, Türkiye ve dünya üniversite sıralamalarını yapmayı toplumsal hizmet olarak gören bir kurumdur. URAP Laboratuvarı’nda çalışan ekip üyeleri; diğer görevlerinin yanı sıra, üniversite sıralama çalışmalarına gönüllü olarak katkı yapmaktadır. 2019 yılı Aralık ayında Çin’de başlayıp, devam eden süreçte, maalesef, dünyanın birçok ülkesini etkisi altına alan COVID-19 salgınından üniversiteler de olumsuz yönde etkilenmiştir. URAP ekibi olarak; tüm ülkelerin bu olumsuz gelişmeleri en kısa sürede minimum zararla atlatmasını ve üniversitelerin de eğitim ve araştırma etkinliklerini sorunsuz olarak yürütmeye başlamasını diliyoruz. URAP, dünya bilim alanı sıralamasının alan sayısını 2018 yılında 61’e çıkarmıştır. Bilindiği gibi son yıllarda üniversite adaylarının başka ülkelerde eğitim almak için yaptıkları üniversite tercihlerinde, dünya alan sıralamalarına çok önem verdikleri belirlenmiştir. URAP ekibi, adaylara ve üniversitelere daha detaylı bilgi verebilmek için dünya sıralamasındaki alan sayısının artırılmasını gerekli görmüştür. Diğer neden ise, bazı üniversitelerin Sosyal Bilimler veya Sanat gibi belirli bir alana yoğunlaşmış olması nedeniyle dünya genel sıralamalarında çok gerilerde kalmalarıdır. Bu tür üniversiteler arasında yoğunlaştıkları alt alanlarda başarılı olanlar, URAP’ın bilim alanı sayısını 61’e çıkarması sonucunda yeni eklenen alt bilim alanlarında üst sıralarda yer alma şansına kavuştular. Dünya bilim alanı sıralamalarında; son 10 yıldır ABD, İngiltere, Avustralya, Hollanda, İsviçre, Belçika, Almanya ve Kanada gibi gelişmiş ülkelerin üniversiteleri bilim alanlarının tamamına yakınında üst sıralarda yer almaktadır. Gelişmekte olan ülkelerin üniversiteleri ise çok az sayıdaki bilim alanında yer almakta, bazı ülkelerin üniversiteleri ise 61 bilim alanı sıralamasının hiçbirine girememektedir.

He spoke on the title of invest in India that with the commitment of India economic Turkey growth has been increased and it has been reached from 22% to $8.6 billion in 2018. By 2020 the goal was to reached $ 10 billion trade and till 2025 to be more resolute aim.

The study is based on the descriptive scanning model. The study group consists of 466 engineering students. The validity of the scale is confirmed through exploration factor analysis and item discriminative power methods. On these data descriptive statistics and t, Anova and Scheffe tests have been employed (p<0, 05). The findings show that the adapted scale is valid and reliable in determining the level of cooperative learning attitudes of the engineering students in Turkish cultural environment. Moreover, the level of the attitude towards the cooperative learning for engineering students is found to be high and does not show any meaningful difference across the gender and engineering disciplines. On the other hand, the level of the attitudes shows a meaningful difference across the grade levels in engineering education.
