LMIS on Private Security Sector was released by Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy during the Summit

A researched document tiltled “Assessing & Framing Requirements for Labour Market Information for Private Security Sector in India” launched during the summit was sponsored by UK- India Education & Research Initiative (UKIERI).

It was a joint project between SSSDC & Skills for Security (SfS), UK. In India SSSDC partnered with Empowered Skills for the project execution. The aim behind this project was to assess the demand and supply of manpower in the private security sector in India.

He mentioned about the PSARA act and the difficulties faced by the industry because of PSARA. He explained the background of the PSAR Act. He informed that parliament is in process of finalizing the labour laws. So in near future there will be only four labour laws.

He said that we are expecting a lot from the security guard but we are not giving him a skilled labour salary. He mentioned that by offering a skilled salary to the security guard, we will attract quality man power to the industry. He also discussed the future prospects of the security guard & security industry.

He mentioned that every individual who is associated with PSA should be very clear with their goal which is “to prevent crime". He

Gen V K Singh, Hon‟ble MOS, Foreign Affairs graced the occasion as our special Guest of Honour. He mentioned that security sector is one of the fastest growing industries. Its future is definitely bright. He appreciated the work done by security industry and its outstanding growth.

He highlighted the need of security because of the growing terrorist activities /threat as well as crime threat in the country.

He also mentioned the major role the government is playing in skilling the youth through PMKVY. He said “I understand that this sector did not get the recognition that it deserved but now the scenario is changed as this industry is playing vital role in securing people and property. He advised the security industry to use growing technology and train the security guards to handle and make the best use of growing technology. He said “This sector has no limit of growth. PSS HAS CREATED EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR TRIBAL BOYS & GIRLS - JUAL ORAM

Shri Jual Oram, Hon‟ble Minister for Tribal Affairs attended the summit as our Guest of Honour. He congratulated CAPSI for celebrating 10th Security Skills & Leadership Summit 2015.

He applauded the initiative taken by the government in skilling India. He mentioned that this sector has potential to strengthen internal security and make the country safe place to live in. He mentioned that this sector has given employment opportunities to the tribal girls & boys. He promised to extend all possible support for this sector.

He further said that this sector has given an opportunity to tribal youth to realize and understand their potential and live their life on their own. This has helped them to build their confidence.

PSARA Act needs to be amended by re- defining the wages for skilled, semi-skilled and un-skilled security guards. He stressed on the use of training infrastructure of private security companies/institutes for the training etc for state police. He urged to maintain creditability and not to adopt short cuts and unethical means.
