Report production: July 2009 Consultation: August 2009 SUMMARY Ponds are an important freshwater habitat that has been shown to play a key role in maintaining biodiversity at landscape level. However, ponds are also vulnerable to environmental degradation and there is evidence that, at a national level, pond quality is declining. In 2007, the biodiversity importance of ponds was recognised when high quality ponds (Priority Ponds) were added to the list of UK Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) Priority Habitats.

'W JGelfaet: M'CAW, STEVENSON & OKK, LIMITED, THE MNENHAI.L PRESS. 1902. — PREFACE. 'hen the Brilisli Association met at Belfast in 1S74, a (luide was prepared for the occasion by the IkMfast NaturaHsts' Field Club, describing and illustrating the history, trade, agriculture, geology, botany, zoology, and archaeology of Belfast and the adjacent counties of Down and Antrim. This work was the first of the "Handbooks" which are now con- sidered an indispensable adjunct to the Association's meetings. The 1874 "Guide" long remained a standard work of reference on the district, and lately it has gone out of print. The present " Guide " has the same origin as its pre- decessor, and follows the same general lines. It has been written by members of the Belfast Field Club, with the co-operation, in certain subjects, of fellow-workers outside the Club, whose assistance is gratefully acknowledged : of Dr. R. F. Scharff, A. R. Nichols, G. H. Carpenter, and J. N. Halbert, all of the National Museum in Dublin, in the department of Zoology ; and of H. J. Seymour, of H.M. Geological Survey, in the department of Geology. The authorship of the various sections is as follows : Belfast, John Vinycomb and Alec Wilson ; Geology, Phillips J. St. J. ; Botany, Henry Hanna, R.

HISTORIC ENVIRONMENT DIVISION Historic Monuments of Northern Ireland Scheduled Historic Monuments 1st April 2016 NORTHERN IRELAND ENVIRONMENT AGENCY DEPARTMENT OF THE ENVIRONMENT HISTORIC MONUMENTS OF NORTHERN IRELAND Historic Environment Division identifies, protects, records, investigates and presents Northern Ireland's heritage of archaeological and historic sites and monuments. The Department has statutory responsibility for the sites and monuments in this list which are protected under Article 3 of the Historic Monuments and Archaeological Objects (NI) Order 1995. They are and are listed in alphabetical order of townland name within each county. The Schedule of Historic Monuments at April 2016 This schedule is compiled and maintained by the Department and is available for public consultation at the Monuments and Buildings Record, Waterman House, 5-33 Hill Street, Belfast BT1 2LA. Additions and amendments are made throughout each year and this list supersedes all previously issued lists. To date there are 1,977 scheduled historic monuments. It is an offence to damage or alter a scheduled site in any way. No works should be planned or undertaken at the sites listed here without first consulting with Historic Environment Division and obtaining any necessary Scheduled Monument Consent. The unique reference number for each site is in the last column of each entry and should be quoted in all correspondence. Where sites are State Care and also have a scheduled area they are demarcated with an asterisk in this list The work of scheduling is ongoing, and the fact that a site is not in this list does not diminish its unique archaeological importance. The Northern Ireland Sites and Monuments Record (NISMR) has information on some 16,656 sites of which this scheduled list is about 12% at present.

  • Northern Ireland Water Waterline
Northern Ireland Water PO Box 1026 Belfast BT1 9DJ www.niwater.com [email protected] Tel: 0345 3006461 20 September 2017 Dear Elected Representative, NI Water Sewer Rehabilitation Project – Strabane/Sion Mills/Newtownstewart Work is now underway on Stage 2 of the sewer rehabilitation project in the Strabane/Sion Mills/Newtownstewart areas. This is part of the NI Sewer Rehabilitation Project, which represents an investment of approximately £18m by NI Water across the province, and is a long-term programme for the improvement of the existing sewerage network. This work follows initial investigation works, which were completed in these areas in 2015/16. The works identified a number of sections of the existing sewers, which are in very poor condition. To rectify these sections of sewer and avoid potential future collapse or flooding issues it is now necessary to undertake these works. They are being carried out under Stage two of this project and will involve the actual sewer improvement works. While the majority of these works will be undertaken using trenchless ‘no-dig’ techniques, which are designed to minimise disruption, there may also be some ‘open-dig’ repair of short sections of sewer at isolated locations, as well as the laying of some sections of new replacement pipelines and associated works. The current phase of work commenced in mid-September, and we anticipate that these works will take approximately 12 weeks to complete. Following discussions with the Department for Infrastructure, it will be necessary at some locations to have lane/road closures in place in order for the works to be carried out safely.
