President’s Message…

Well what a year we have had since our last show. The dry which was already evident at our last show, turned into quite a severe drought, then there was Covid. As a rural community we came through pretty well, and there was the added bonus that the Nation as a whole came to appreciate us and what we produce much more.

In spite of the gloom and doom that some pundits are wont to spread, the response from the business community to our 2021 show has been very pleasing indeed. The committee are both humbled and thankful for this ongoing support, we have had hardly any dropouts and have added a few more sponsors. Please everybody check out the lists of sponsors, and if you are thinking of buying a product or service that they sell, give them a go. They support us, if we can we should support them.

This year in addition to all the usual entertainment, including once again the sideshows for a gold coin donation, we have some new items on the program. After several years absence, Dairy Goats are going to be back, and with M Bovis now seemingly under control, cattle competitions are returning. Looking forward to welcoming them back.

Don't miss the shearing, its one of the best spectator sports in the business, and we have a great set up to view all the action.YFC agri-teens are back again, with a couple of new modules, including for the first time a first aid module. Promises to be great fun.

We are proud of our indoor section, we think its one of the best on the show circuit. Come and have a look, better still bring an entry, you might be surprised at how well you do. It doesn't cost much and it's a lot of fun.

Five Horse rings, highland dancing, vintage cars, tug-o-war, tossing the sheaf, food and drink.

Mark the 13th of February down, and come to the NW Show at Mititai. We'd love to see you, it's a great day for the whole family.

Richard Alspach (President)
