Getting

Started Safely

Call 811 before you dig.

When it comes to digging safely, you make the call. Whether you’re working on a large excavation, or simply planting a tree in your yard, natural gas and utility line safety should always be job one – and that means calling 811 before you dig. Calling 811 helps you know where natural gas, electric, water and other under- ground lines are located. It also helps you avoid causing serious injuries, service interruptions, or possibly costly fines for damaged infrastructure. Make the call. It’s easy. It’s FREE. Respect the lines. Dig with care. After all, safety is in your hands, but always on our minds.

We’re investing in infrastructure, technology and services that help keep you safe.

More information on natural gas safety is available at: CenterPointEnergy.com/Safety.

24 — Football Preview 2020 Introducing... John Crook, Kingston Assistant Band Director Football Preview 2020 — 25

Marching to a different beat

By Shalene White With the pandemic in full swing, the Madill High School Band and the Kingston High School Band both are forced to do things dif- ferently than normal. Typically, the bands would play at games and participate in contests. For this school year, the bands must basically “play it by ear,” and keep in mind that the schedules they currently have are tentative. Anything can get shut down at a moment’s notice becuase of COVID. Madill Band Director Kendal Hasty said he is hoping the 2020 Marching Season will be a great one for the Madill Band. The Madill Band is planning to attend three marching contests this fall, even though the contests will be a bit different because of the pandemic. He also said the Madill Jazz Band will be gearing up for what he hopes to be a busy performance schedule. Hasty also said their most important duty will always be support- ing the community, school activites and students of the Madill Public Schools. Lance Reister, the Kingston Band Director, said he plans on sticking to a normal schedule unless COVID rears its ugly head. The band is planning on attending all football games unless there is a significantly high number of cases in the county that the game is being held. The Kingston Band is also planning on attending marching contests in Tishomingo on October 3, Holdenville on October 10 and the OS- SAA Regional Marching Contest in Atoka on October 14. 26 — Football Preview 2020 KINKINGSTON GSTON REDSKINS MARCHINGMARCHING BANDBAND
