Biennium Grants Workshops Learn how to apply for Biennium Grants! Workshops for FY2017-2019 Biennium Grants program are designed for first time applicants; no experience needed. Grants are awarded to eligible organizations in five categories: Arts Education, Community Arts, Heritage & Preservation, Presentation, and Performing Arts. Sign up sheets will be available for those applicants who would like to meet with HSFCA staff on an individual basis after the workshop. Biennium Grant Program Community Peer Panels The Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts is looking for individuals to serve on its 2017-2019 Biennium Grant Program Community Peer Panels. The panels will meet in March 2017 to review grant applications and make recommendations to the HSFCA Board regarding non-profit organizations who conduct projects and programs that support arts, culture, and humanities in Hawaii. Panelists are needed to serve on panels in the following program areas: Presentation, Community Arts, Heritage and Preservation, Arts Education, and Presentation: Performing Arts. If you are currently working in or have had experience working in any of the above program areas and would like to participate on a panel, please go to culturegrants-hi.org, and complete and submit the Panelist Application form at the bottom of the page.

HSFCA Art in Public Places Program Maui Artwork Installation During the last week of July, HSFCA Exhibit Specialists were on Maui, installing artwork from the Art in Public Places Collection of the Hawai’i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts at several locations around the island. They visited one new site (Baldwin High School) and 29 existing sites. Sites serviced on this trip: Hana Public and School Library, Maui Community College, DOT Maui Airport, DAGS Maui, Kahului Public Library, Lihikai Elementary School, Baldwin High School, Maui High School, Pukalani Elementary School, Lieutenant Governor’s Office Maui, Judiciary Dept. (Adult Client Services, Circuit Court of the Second Circuit, Client Services Division, Judiciary Special Services Branch, Office of the Court Administrator, Maui Drug Court), Maui Memorial Medical Center, Lahaina Comprehensive Health Center, Lahaina Luna High School, Princess Nahienaena Elementary School, DBEDT Kihei, Kihei Public Library, Dept. of Labor and Industrial Relations, Dept. of Health, Dept. of Human Services, Dept. of Budget and Finance, and the Dept. of Land and Industrial Relations.

AASC VISIT: HJCC The HSFCA was invited by the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce to bring an Acquisition Award Selection Committee (AASC) to the 38th Annual HJCC Commitment to Excellence exhibit at the School Gallery. 4 artworks were nominated by the AASC for acquisition by the Art in Public Places Collection and will go to the HSFCA Board of Commissioners for approval.

AASC VISIT: Abstract Only The HSFCA was invited to bring an AASC to the Abstract Only exhibit at the Wailoa Center in Hilo. 2 artworks were nominated by the AASC for acquisition by the Art in Public Places Collection and will go to the HSFCA Board of Commissioners for approval.

AASC VISIT: Fiber Hawaii The HSFCA was invited to bring an AASC to the Hawai’i Craftsmen's Fiber Hawaii: In, Of, or About Fiber 2016 exhibit at the Honolulu Museum of Art School Gallery. 2 artworks were nominated by the AASC for acquisition by the Art in Public Places Collection and will go to the HSFCA Board of Commissioners for approval. The HSFCA Board of Commissioners has also approved an AASC visit to the upcoming Hawai’i Craftsmen 49th Annual Statewide Juried Exhibition.

The 2017 Hawaii Regional Scholastic Art Awards Exhibition is scheduled to be exhibited at the Hawai’i State Art Museum from Friday, February 24 to Thursday, April 13, 2017.
