With everyone’s interest nowadays regarding their ancestry and the popularity of the various DNA Testing Kits, it should be no surprise that we would have new members attending our reunion who discovered their relationship to the Wells Family in this way. We had four people at the reunion this year who discovered their Wells lineage through DNA testing. Susie Colburn, left, has been a faithful attendee and Board member since she discovered several years ago her Wells kinship through DNA testing. On the right, Mike Parker shared how he discovered that he and Jeff Wells, in the blue shirt, were brothers. Mike and Jeff attended our reunion for the first time in 2018 and are looking forward to attending again this September. And, Linda Johnson, who traveled the farthest by coming from Nevada for the reunion, also discovered her connection with the Wells Family through DNA testing. We welcome our newly discovered family members and hope to see them many times in the future.

For those of the family who have not heard about our ancestry website, use the above address to access some really interesting information. New things are being added daily to the site which includes newsletters from many years back, information about our scholarship, reunion information, etc.

As many of you know, our historical committee has been working for many years to compile and document all the family information pertaining to the offspring of the 11 children of Richard and Susannah Hutchison Wells. It has taken many, many years and lots and lots of work by numerous family members to come up with and compile the voluminous amount of information relative to those children, namely, Andrew Wells, George Eireland Wells, Moses Wells, Elizabeth Wells, Simon Peter Wells, Rosanna Wells, John Preston Wells, Martha Nancy Wells, William Green Wells, Agnes Hutchison Wells, and Mary Wells.

The plan was to compile all this information and publish a book; however, when the information on just one of those 11 children totaled over 700 pages, it was quickly decided that a printed publication would just not be possible. The Wells Family Board considered several possibilities and decided that offering a subscription to view the information on a website would be the most feasible. You will be offered a chance to download the information on each ancestor for viewing on the computer or, if a hard copy is desired, you can purchase a subscription at a one-time higher rate to print the information out.

Once this information is available on the website, the subscription costs for each volume and the directions for purchasing and downloading will be provided to everyone. Keep checking the website for updates.
