Y finalmente agradezco a mis compañeros Daniel Rodríguez y Rolando Chicas por trabajar juntos en el proceso del cual he aprendido mucho Orquídea Polanco IMPORTANCIA DE LA MEMORIA HISTÓRICA A TRAVÉS DE LA REPRESENTACIÓN VISUAL DE LA PRODUCCIÓN EN BORDADOS REALIZADOS POR SALVADOREÑOS REFUGIADOS EN COLOMONCAGUA, HONDURAS, ENTRE 1981 A 1992, CONTENIDOS EN LA COLECCIÓN DEL MUSEO DE LA PALABRA Y LA IMAGEN (MUPI) Trabajo de Grado presentado por: Chicas Alfaro, Rolando Ernesto CA12010, Licenciatura en Artes Plásticas, Opción Pintura, Escuela de Artes, Facultad de Ciencias y Humanidades, Universidad de El Salvador Montes Polanco, Gabriela Orquídea MP09043, Licenciatura en Artes Plásticas, Opción Pintura, Escuela de Artes, Facultad de Ciencias y Humanidades, Universidad de El Salvador Rodríguez Morales, José Daniel RM11123, Licenciatura en Artes Plásticas, Opción Pintura, Escuela de Artes, Facultad de Ciencias y Humanidades, Universidad de El Salvador RESUMEN En la presente investigación, de proceso de grado se reconoce todo lo que gira en torno a los bordados realizados por salvadoreños refugiados en Honduras como una herramienta de comunicación artística, y como fuente de inspiración para el mismo; esto ayuda no solo a aprehender el pasado sino a analizarlo, a sensibilizarse ante tales tragedias, genera una relevante herramienta informativa con interés en los propios salvadoreños, también se vuelve necesario el crear obra que comunique y que esté basada en la colección permanente “Bordadoras de Memoria” La propuesta del Proyecto que tiene como título “Importancia de la memoria histórica a través de la representación visual de la producción en bordados realizados por salvadoreños refugiados en Colomoncagua, Honduras, entre 1981 a 1992, contenidos en la colección del Museo de la Palabra y la Imagen (MUPI)”, pasó varias etapas dentro de las cuales está la verificación de una necesidad real dentro del Museo, se indagó bibliográficamente lo relacionado con el tema y se realizó toda una etapa de entrevistas a personas específicas. Cómo se originó todo este proceso, cómo se conceptualizó y materializó en una obra plástica, dicha producción es una herramienta muy eficiente para difundir más el museo, mostrar también el papel del artista plástico. Finalmente se culmina el trabajo realizando un registro de la producción pictórica donde se emplearon técnicas mixtas y que servirán para engrosar más la importancia de la colección que contiene los bordados, y así creando más interés a la propia memoria histórica nacional. How this whole process originated, how it was conceptualized and materialized in a plastic work, this production is a very efficient tool to get to know the museum more. It also shows the role of the artist . Finally the work is completed by making a record of the Pictorial production where mixed techniques were used, those which will enrich more the importance of the collection that contains the embroidery, and thus creating more interest to the national historical memory.     EL SALVADOR Peace can only be achieved with justice INTRODUCTION Impunity - the failure to bring to justice and punish those responsible for human rights violations - becomes a new violation of the human rights of the victims and their families. This cycle has to be broken so that El Salvador can really move ahead in peace and harmony, victims can see justice done and impunity does not become the norm for the present. Impunity usually arises from a lack of political will. This often stems from the fact that the state itself, or an arm of the state such as the military, has committed or encouraged the violations. Impunity can also result from a government's failure to make the defence of human rights a central part of its domestic political agenda. Whatever the cause, impunity means a denial of justice for the victims and creates a climate where individuals can continue to commit violations without fear of arrest, prosecution or punishment. Combatting impunity goes hand in hand with key human rights principles of fairness, accountability and justice. AI therefore opposes any measures which grant an amnesty to perpetrators of crimes against humanity and war crimes before the truth of the crimes has been established and is known; before the victims have been provided with reparation; or before the judicial process has been completed to internationals standards with a clear verdict of guilt or acquittal. There is no definitive figure for the total number of victims of human rights violations in El Salvador during the 1980-1991 period. Seventy five thousand victims - extrajudicially executed, tortured, “disappeared” and - are estimated.

Gladis Guardado remembers exactly when and how the civil war arrived to her home town of La Hacienda, in northern Chalatenango, El Salvador. It was mid-December 1979. The Salvadoran Army and National Guard, along with paramilitaries from ORDEN, began forcefully dislodging people from nearby villages, including La Laguna, El Jícaro, Las Vueltas, El Ticahuite and Conacaste. About 400 campesinos1 from these and other villages descended on Gladis’s town of La Hacienda, where they stayed for a few weeks before moving on to Las Aradas, a hamlet of perhaps a dozen houses located on the banks of the Sumpul River. Initially, Gladis and others from La Hacienda decided to stay home but, a few months later, a new wave of violence hit. “La guardia [the National Guard] came, shooting first and then ransacking houses and stores... They tore down the doors with machetes, killed the animals and the people who stayed in their houses... they pulled them outside at bayonet point and beat them.”2 That was in March 1980. In late April, when la guardia started to kill, Gladis Guardado and many of her neighbors decided to leave La Hacienda.
