Randy Buresh, Continental League, Non-Coach I Bring a Wealth of Naperville Little League Experience and Insight to the Board of Directors from Many Perspectives Randy Buresh, Continental League, non-coach I bring a wealth of Naperville Little League experience and insight to the Board of Directors from many perspectives. I have been involved with Naperville Little League for over 20 years. I am currently on the Board and serve as Secretary. Also, I have served as a past President of the Board, past Vice President, past Secretary, and at large Board Member for 6 years, American League Player Agent for several years, manager and coach for over 10 years, and most importantly, a parent. In addition, I have managed and/or coached several American League All Star Teams in District Tournaments and In-House Naperville Little League Tournaments. Bob Chamberlain - Continental League, non-coach • Managed 10 years in the league for my 2 sons in the Continental League across both drafted and undrafted teams. • Helped evolve and grow Sunday Baseball into the Naperville Baseball Club • Input all game scores and game reports for Supreme/Majors for the last 4 years • Solid understanding of all aspects of the league, what works and what needs improvement • Fresh out of the league so I understand the challenges and talk to many coaches across CL, NL and RL and appreciate their input to make sound decisions that are best for the league • I look forward to the opportunity to try and help improve the league to give players and families the best possible baseball experience. Ryan Gerardi, Republic League, coach As a father with two sons who have both played in the Naperville Little League, one which still does, I have enjoyed getting to know the parents, players, and league administrators over the last few years, and I have great respect for the organizational efforts of everyone. I would be honored to serve as a board member of the Naperville Little League should I be elected. Baseball has been a part of my life since I can remember, and being part of the coaching process for younger generations has been a joy. I would like to continue coaching, and as a board member, I would be able to draw up my deep passion and experience for the game as a player, as a parent, and as a coach. My profession is media and marketing, which I am sure could be handy for the League. And as a local business owner I am proud to be a sponsor of the League as well. I and my sons are relatively new to Naperville. We moved here in 2016. Playing in the League has helped us make new friends, and I see serving on the board as an opportunity to strengthen and grow those ties, and be part of something special and important for the local community. Dan Kenealy, National League, coach I am Dan Kenealy (Coach K) and have been active in supporting Naperville Little League consecutively since 1998. I have served on the NLLB Board in various capacities periodically over these 20 years. In addition, I have both managed and coached at various levels during this time period since my wife of 41 years gave me her blessing to pursue one of my life’s passions. I love our neighborhood baseball; it’s called Naperville Little League. I believe a great league recognizes every member and should challenge each according to their individual desire and skill set. I have come to appreciate all the volunteers that have donated their time and energy. I have also come to realize that experience such as mine can be a real positive for our league by returning to the Board of Directors this year. My experience coupled with my passion to help make Naperville Little League THE PLACE to play youth baseball is IMO a solid formula. I believe one of our goals should be to help create positive memories for every one of our members. The Training and Development of every member is what supports a great league, and I hope to share my ideas with fellow Board members in this regard. I have come to understand that as parents these days of youth sports pass so quickly, and we don’t ever get them back. Playing ball in the neighborhood where families actually know one another and also help grow the social aspect to youth sports is the core of why I fell in love with Little League. I am also a firm believer in good communication and total transparency. Please consider as a Board Member for the upcoming season. Mark Lis, Continental League, non-coach I am currently seeking a position on the Naperville Little League Board of Directors. Having served as a previous board member and managed my own teams, I understand the perspective of a league representative and a parent. My involvement in Naperville Little League is as follows: 1990-2004 Managed a regular season team and a All-Star team for the National League 1990-1995 Served as a Player Agent for the National League 1995-2000 Served as the League President for the National League 2000-2004 Served as the President of Naperville Little League Baseball 2008-2012 Managed a regular season team and a All-Star team for the American League 2008-2012 Served as the League President for the American League Mike Llewellyn, Continental League, non-coach This past year I served my first full year as NLLB President. The previous two years, I served as Continental League Director (and NLLB President for a period of time). I really enjoyed being a part of the NLLB Board of Directors. As a third-year board member I continued to learn a lot about how the league is run and what it takes to ensure that NLLB continues to grow in the future. There were a lot of exciting changes that I was a part of in 2019. I would like the opportunity to keep improving on those changes in 2020 and implement other programs that we did not get a chance to complete. As a former player and a current parent in NLLB I know it is the best baseball experience for Naperville families and I would like to make sure it stays that way for years to come. Mike McCotter, Continental League, coach I would like to submit my name for consideration for the Board of Directors of Naperville Little League. I have been involved with Naperville Little League since 2015, serving as assistant and now Head Coach of both Majors and Rookie teams. I have been involved in all facets of NLL, including Summer Tournament, Fall Ball and RedHawks. My previous experience includes; head coach of the Mount Prospect Mavericks Travel Team (07-08) and Head Basketball Coach for 5 seasons at the YMCA. Baseball is my passion and I was fortunate to play the game I love through college at Carroll University. I believe in the relationships that Little League allows you to develop. They are an important foundation for kids as they go through life but also builds character. My philosophies center on player and team development, while offering a competitive enjoyable experience. I truly have enjoyed the NLL experience and I would like to contribute to the future growth of the league so that it offers even more great experiences for the generations to follow. Thank you in advance for your consideration. Jim Meurer, Republic League, non-coach Jim Meurer has been a Little League volunteer since 1988. He joined the Naperville Board of Directors in 2000 and was President of Naperville Little League from 2006 to 2010. Since 2010 he has volunteered in the capacity of Umpire Director while also filling the role of Umpire Consultant for Illinois District 11. For the last seven years he has dedicated numerous hours teaching our young adult umpires the proper application of rules, proper mechanics and appropriate positioning on the field. He has been honored to have been assigned to umpire three Little League World Series. In 2001 he was assigned to the Little League Softball World Series in Portland, OR; in 2011 the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA and in 2016 the Senior League World Series in Bangor, ME. Ethan Moore, Continental League, coach I would like to formally run for the Naperville LL Board of Directors. This past year, I served as Head Player Agent for the Continental League. Growing up under a HS coach and sports leader, I have always had a passion for youth sports and the development of young men and women. For the past 5 years I have volunteered within NLLB as a coach, Player Agent, Treasurer, and Board of Director member. I would like the ability to assist in the continued growth and maturation of the NLLB. I believe our league continues to foster not only a great baseball experience for kids, but also a sense of community. The relationships I have made with Naperville Little League families have value well beyond the baseball field. My goal is to assist in the continued growth of NLL and prepare our young men and women for success in athletics, the classroom, and life Ray Munch, National League, non-coach My name is Ray Munch and I am running for Naperville Little League Baseball’s Board of Directors as a non-coach. This will be my third year of involvement with NLLB. For the past two years, I have served as an assistant coach in Rookies A and AA divisions. In 2020, my son Nate will play in the Supreme AA division. Prior to coaching in NLLB, I coached for two years in the Naperville Park District’s t-ball and coach pitch programs.

Through my research I have found that both entities follow a very similar timeline with highs and lows coming around the same time in the same province; although, I have not found any direct linkage between the two. My analysis begins around 1837 and continues through present day, and by analyzing the histories of each movement demonstrates clearly that both movements followed a unique and similar timeline.

Baseball in Canada SAMUEL R. HILL* INTRODUCTION Baseball scholars and historians have long accepted that Abner Doubleday did not invent baseball in Cooperstown, New York in 1839.' Doubleday's baseball legend survives, however, as part of baseball folklore; Americans would likely deride the suggestion that a foreign country created baseball. Yet, Canadians recorded a "baseball" game played in 1838 in Beachville, Ontario.' Does the Canadian record debunk the Doubleday baseball legend? The answer, in all likelihood, is no. The modem-day game of baseball most resembles the form of baseball developed in New York in the early nineteenth century.' Canadian baseball, however, developed on a parallel and often intertwined path with that of its American counterpart, and played an instrumental role in shaping baseball as we know it today.
