Ryan Gerardi, Republic League, coach

As a father with two sons who have both played in the Naperville Little League, one which still does, I have enjoyed getting to know the parents, players, and league administrators over the last few years, and I have great respect for the organizational efforts of everyone. I would be honored to serve as a board member of the Naperville Little League should I be elected.

Baseball has been a part of my life since I can remember, and being part of the coaching process for younger generations has been a joy. I would like to continue coaching, and as a board member, I would be able to draw up my deep passion and experience for the game as a player, as a parent, and as a coach.

My profession is media and marketing, which I am sure could be handy for the League. And as a local business owner I am proud to be a sponsor of the League as well. I and my sons are relatively new to Naperville. We moved here in 2016. Playing in the League has helped us make new friends, and I see serving on the board as an opportunity to strengthen and grow those ties, and be part of something special and important for the local community.

Dan Kenealy, , coach I am Dan Kenealy (Coach K) and have been active in supporting Naperville Little League consecutively since 1998. I have served on the NLLB Board in various capacities periodically over these 20 years. In addition, I have both managed and coached at various levels during this time period since my wife of 41 years gave me her blessing to pursue one of my life’s passions. I love our neighborhood baseball; it’s called Naperville Little League. I believe a great league recognizes every member and should challenge each according to their individual desire and skill set. I have come to appreciate all the volunteers that have donated their time and energy. I have also come to realize that experience such as mine can be a real positive for our league by returning to the Board of Directors this year. My experience coupled with my passion to help make Naperville Little League THE PLACE to play youth baseball is IMO a solid formula. I believe one of our goals should be to help create positive memories for every one of our members. The Training and Development of every member is what supports a great league, and I hope to share my ideas with fellow Board members in this regard. I have come to understand that as parents these days of youth sports pass so quickly, and we don’t ever get them back. Playing ball in the neighborhood where families actually know one another and also help grow the social aspect to youth sports is the core of why I fell in love with Little League. I am also a firm believer in good communication and total transparency. Please consider as a Board Member for the upcoming season.

Mark Lis, Continental League, non-coach

I am currently seeking a position on the Naperville Little League Board of Directors. Having served as a previous board member and managed my own teams, I understand the perspective of a league representative and a parent. My involvement in Naperville Little League is as follows:

Mike Llewellyn, Continental League, non-coach This past year I served my first full year as NLLB President. The previous two years, I served as Continental League Director (and NLLB President for a period of time). I really enjoyed being a part of the NLLB Board of Directors. As a third-year board member I continued to learn a lot about how the league is run and what it takes to ensure that NLLB continues to grow in the future. There were a lot of exciting changes that I was a part of in 2019. I would like the opportunity to keep improving on those changes in 2020 and implement other programs that we did not get a chance to complete. As a former player and a current parent in NLLB I know it is the best baseball experience for Naperville families and I would like to make sure it stays that way for years to come.

Mike McCotter, Continental League, coach I would like to submit my name for consideration for the Board of Directors of Naperville Little League. I have been involved with Naperville Little League since 2015, serving as assistant and now Head Coach of both Majors and Rookie teams. I have been involved in all facets of NLL, including Summer Tournament, Fall Ball and RedHawks. My previous experience includes; head coach of the Mount Prospect Mavericks Travel Team (07-08) and Head Basketball Coach for 5 seasons at the YMCA. Baseball is my passion and I was fortunate to play the game I love through college at Carroll University. I believe in the relationships that Little League allows you to develop. They are an important foundation for kids as they go through life but also builds character. My philosophies center on player and team development, while offering a competitive enjoyable experience. I truly have enjoyed the NLL experience and I would like to contribute to the future growth of the league so that it offers even more great experiences for the generations to follow. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Ethan Moore, Continental League, coach

I would like to formally run for the Naperville LL Board of Directors. This past year, I served as Head Player Agent for the Continental League. Growing up under a HS coach and sports leader, I have always had a passion for youth sports and the development of young men and women. For the past 5 years I have volunteered within NLLB as a coach, Player Agent, Treasurer, and Board of Director member. I would like the ability to assist in the continued growth and maturation of the NLLB. I believe our league continues to foster not only a great baseball experience for kids, but also a sense of community. The relationships I have made with Naperville Little League families have value well beyond the baseball field. My goal is to assist in the continued growth of NLL and prepare our young men and women for success in athletics, the classroom, and life

Ray Munch, National League, non-coach

My name is Ray Munch and I am running for Naperville Little League Baseball’s Board of Directors as a non-coach. This will be my third year of involvement with NLLB. For the past two years, I have served as an assistant coach in Rookies A and AA divisions. In 2020, my son Nate will play in the Supreme AA division. Prior to coaching in NLLB, I coached for two years in the Naperville Park District’s t-ball and coach pitch programs. While I will not be coaching this coming year, I do have a strong desire to remain actively involved in NLLB. I believe that NLLB offers a tremendous opportunity for young athletes to participate in our National Pastime regardless of their individual skill level. I appreciate that the league offers varying levels of competition to accommodate those families who seek high-quality baseball without the commitment to a travel league. The primary goal of youth sports should be to build character, learn what it means to be part of a team, and have fun. I hope to emphasize those attributes of the league through my involvement on the Board of Directors. My wife, Kelley, and I are 12-year Naperville residents. I have lived in the Naperville/Lisle area my entire life. We are proud parishioners of Ss. Peter & Paul Parish where our two sons, Ben and Nate, attend elementary school. We are actively involved in our parish school through various volunteer opportunities. In my professional life, I am a life-long public servant. After spending 15 years in law enforcement, I transitioned to a career in local government management. I currently serve as the Assistant City Manager for the City of DeKalb, Illinois with an emphasis on public finance and human resources management. I look forward to serving the Naperville community as a member of the NLLB Board of Directors and thank you for your consideration.

John O’Connor, National League, coach My background consists of the following. First and foremost I have a love for our national pastime. I grew up playing little league from a young age until I entered high school. During my adult years I kept active with baseball by playing 12 inch softball for over 15 years including tournaments out of state. The bonds and friendships I’ve built over these years have been the best thing baseball has given to me and I’m ready to give back to the sport I love.

I currently have a son that plays in the NLLB program and has for the past two years. I’ve had the honor of managing a team last fall and this summer for the tournament, as well as assisting on three other teams. I love working with the kids on their skills and watching them improve as the seasons go on. My most favorite thing is being able to teach the kids not only about baseball, but what it means to be great teammates and showing respect to others with their actions and great sportsmanship. If elected to the board I plan on providing guidance and input from my own experiences and knowledge to improve the NLLB brand and product.

For the past four years I have also participated in raising money and awareness for the Special Olympics of Illinois through the Torch Run Polar Plunge and other fund raising events my team has held.

Thank you for your consideration.

Ed Quinn, Republic League, non-coach I served last year on the NLLB BOD as the Head Player Agent for the Republic League. I have been a coach in Naperville Little League for the past several years, both as an assistant and as a manager, in both the drafted and non-drafted leagues. I am passionate about youth sports and strongly believe that NLLB offers the kids in the Naperville area the best combination of value, competitiveness and community, and will work hard to make sure NLLB continues to be the best option for youth baseball in the area.

Jeff Scheuerman, Continental League, non-coach

I wish to be listed as a candidate for the new Naperville Little League board. Here is my background:

• Naperville LL Board member for 15 years • Naperville LL Board Treasurer for 16 years (the year after left board I stayed on as treasurer since no one on board would take the position over) • Fall ball league coordinator for several years on the board • Several years as player agent, umpire coordinator • Manager in the Republic League for 25 years (majority without a child in program) • Assisted LL District #11 for last several years in district play

I would love to once again to have the opportunity to provide the continuation for the participants to learn and have fun that will create good memories for them to carry into the future.

Ryan Vest, Republic League, non-coach

I’ve been a resident of Naperville since 1985 where I began playing baseball in the Naperville Little League. I played up the ranks through graduation at Naperville Central High School. After high school, I played baseball at Florida Southern College in Lakeland Florida. FSC is know nationally for their top level organization and success. The program has won 9-Nationally Championships and sending 100’s of players to the professional rank. I was a Co-Captain my senior year.

After college, I returned to the Naperville area working a full-time job and working with the White Sox Training Academy. While at the academy, I instructed individuals, groups and teams. While proving my abilities, I was asked to coach their travel team. In doing so, we won dozens of tournaments and 3-National Championships. The most rewarding aspect of coaching has been seeing 15 of my past players play college baseball, 3 played professionally, and 1 played in the NFL.

With my experiences (local and national) and being a product of the Naperville system, I bring a wide range of skills from on-field coaching to organizational management (day-to-day and growth of program).

Over the years the “in-house” leagues have been under attack by the billions of dollar travel team industry. This possess opportunity as well as threats. I believe it is imperative to run little league with an open mind to opportunities while holding true to the ideals set by the league.

In my personal life, I own and run a financial planning firm and mortgage banking business. My wife Laurie is a nurse at Edward Hospital and my son, Connor, is a second grader at White Eagle Elementary.

Justen Wahl, Republic League, coach

As a honored Naperville resident for almost 13 years, I am fully vested in ensuring that our community is the benchmark for residential areas in the United States. The avenue that I’ve found that I can contribute most, while aligning with my passion for sports, is youth athletics. As a proud father of three, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities I’ve had to help guide them in their sports involvement and volunteer as a coach for some of their teams. I’ve coached for my eldest daughter’s volleyball teams at the YMCA, my son’s park district soccer team, and I currently coach for my other daughter’s NPS soccer team and sons’ NLLB and WAA basketball teams.

I’ve been fortunate to observe and be involved in multiple sports at various levels. My children have participated in sports through municipality organizations and clubs. Sports are an invaluable opportunity for young people to develop skills and confidence, develop long-lasting bonds with peers, and add a level of activeness and variety to their overall interests. I feel strongly that every young person should have every opportunity to enjoyably participate and strive for their goals in a sport they’re interested in through long standing organizations like Little League Baseball, no matter what their desired level of competitiveness or long- term aspirations are.

As a baseball/softball player for much of my life, and now recently a coach for my son’s baseball team, I would enthusiastically welcome this opportunity to apply my experiences while on the board of directors to help shape Naperville Little League to continue being a premier youth sports organization in the country. I strongly believe that baseball can have a positive, lifelong influence on the lives of our youth.

Matt Wszolek, National League, coach

My name is Matt Wszolek, father of 3 boys, and I have a deep rooted passion for the only game where the defense has the ball at all times. I have been managing Little League baseball for 4 years and the spring will be my 10th team managing baseball. I love the game dearly and promise you as a board member my lens will be to do everything I can to make the game fun and enjoyable for the kids as much as possible. It is our duty as a board, and more importantly as stewards of the game, that we create an atmosphere where the kids will laugh, celebrate, and be a part of a team that produces incredible childhood memories. If they win, great...if they don't, they will still think back years from now and remember the smell of the grass and the crack of the bat...and in turn will pass those memories onto their kids. My only true goal is to make sure they love the game more than they did before the season started. Thank you for your time and consideration.
