Mechanized Open Cast Lime Stone Mine with a Production Capacity Of Mechanized Open cast Lime Stone mine with a production capacity of 8.4 MmTPA (8,400,000 TPA) by M/s Vertex Cements (P) Ltd, Telukutla, Daida and Gangavaram Lime stone mine located at Telukutla, Daida and Gangavaram Villages, Gurazala Mandal, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh (ML Area: 1541.53 acres (623.848 ha)) – TOR. 1. Location of the Project The Mine Lease area is located at Telukutla, Daida and Gangavaram Villages, Gurazala Mandal, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh. The mine site location falls under in survey of India Top sheet no. 56 P/10 at the intersection of 79o 34’ 39.09” ‐ 79o 37’ 37.46” E longitude and 16o 36’ 4.50” ‐ 16o 37’ 17.029” N latitude. The site elevation above Mean sea Level (MSL) is 103‐110 m. The mine site is surrounded by open lands in all directions. The nearest hamlet is Lakshmi Gangavaram Camp at a distance of 0.85 km in Southeast direction. The site is connected to Macherla – Guntur state highway at a distance of 4.5 km in south direction. The nearest railway station is Rentachintala 7.1 km in SE Direction (South central Railway Macherla – Guntur Branch). Interstate Boundary of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is at a distance of 3.9 km in Northwest direction. Krishna River is at a 3.7 km in Northwest direction. There are no national parks and or wild life sanctuaries within 10 km radius. The following reserve forests are located within 10 km radius. Daida RF at a distance of 2.1 km in North direction, Virlapalem RF at a distance of 4.6 km in North direction, Goli RF at a distance of 5.7 km in Northwest direction, Adividevulapalli RF at a distance of 6.1 km in Southwest direction, Paluvayi RF at a distance of 8.5 km in Northeast direction, Madagula RF at a distance of 9.9 km in Southwest direction. 2. Reasons if Category 'B' Project to be considered as Category ‘A’ Project: No. It is ‘A’ category project, the ML area is 1541.53 acres (623.848 ha) (>50 Ha). Lime stone recovered from the mine will be used for captive purpose in M/s. Vertex Cements (P) Ltd, Telukutla, Daida and Gangavaram Lime stone mine located at Telukutla, Daida and Gangavaram Villages, Gurazala Mandal, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh. 3. Details of Mine Plan, Mine Lease with Letter of IBM No. dated... and land use pattern including Forest Land. Vertex Cements (P) Ltd, Telekutla, Daida & Gangavaram Lime stone mine has obtained Prospecting License from district collector, Guntur (letter no Rc. No 2577/2013‐E4, dated: 15.07.2013) of Andhra Pradesh for Lime stone mine over an extent of 1541.53 acres (623.8361 ha) at Telekutla, Daida and Gangavaram villages, Gurazala mandal, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. 4. Method of Mining and details of letter of intent (LOI)/ The proposed method of mining is mechanized open cast for limestone production by developing the benches by employing deep drilling, blasting, hydraulic excavators and dumpers. Benches of 8m will be developed for production. ROM material will be loaded by hydraulic excavators into dumpers to be sent to crushing plant and to cement plant by dedicated conveyor belt. The sizing and segregation of mineral and waste will be done by loader. 5. Details of water requirement, waste generation and waste management Water requirement for the proposed mining is 220 KLD shall be met from mine seepage water / bore wells/Krishna River. Total water required is used for suppressing the dust, wetting drill the surface, green belt development and for domestic purpose. Sewage generated from domestic shall be sent to septic tank followed by soak pit. Waste generated will be stacked in the waste dump area and partly used for backfilling the worked out pits. Top soil generated will be stacked in the non‐mineralised area and used for green belt development to reclaim the mined out pits. 6. Details of court case/violation There is no court case/litigation pending against the project. It is a green field project, no violations cases are involved. 7. Details of Cost of the project and its EMP cost Total cost estimated for the proposed project is Rs. 63.87 Crores and Cost estimated for EMP is Rs. 3.0 Crores. 8. Any other information The mine is proposed to cater the limestone requirement of the proposed cement plant of M/s. Vertex Cements (P) Ltd, Telukutla, Daida and Gangavaram Lime stone mine located at Telukutla, Daida and Gangavaram Villages, Gurazala Mandal, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh with a manufacturing capacity of 7.4 MmTPA in two phases. It is helpful in the evaluation of various hydrological elements like water storage, water surplus and water deficit, which in turn provide quantitative solutions to many hydrological questions, in a given region (Hemamalini, 1993). Drought is weather related hazard and cannot be visualized like any other weather hazard. Moreover, accurate prediction is also not possible. However, water balance technique enables to carry out drought analysis. It is a perfect tool to identify the years of drought, their frequencies, and intensities. To understand the vulnerability of each mandal of the district to droughts, drought analysis has been carried out. Index of aridity (i.e. the ratio between water deficit and water need of the area) is the key parameter used to identify the drought incidences. The analysis shows that all the representative stations of the district are prone to droughts. From the study, it is inferred that Guntur district has been prone to droughts/famines from time immemorial. The incidence of droughts is on the increase which was indicated through the analysis of decennial frequency. The overall drought proneness in all the mandals was above 40 percent.
