I am currently Denmark’s Trade Commissioner to Italy, Malta and San Remo. Prior experience include Director for Communication, Marketing and Business Development at Invest in Denmark, European Director to international management consultancy firm. Expert to the World Economic Forum on Innovation and the Nordic Model. I have written several articles and in books on innovation and business development and been a guest lecturer on these themes to leading business schools in Europe and North America. Yitz Applbaum Co-Founder, MizMaa Ventures Advisor, EIGHT VC Partners and Owl Ventures

Isaac “Yitz” Applbaum is a co-founder of MizMaa Ventures, a $200M fund which invests in Israeli startup companies. Applbaum is a special advisor to both EIGHT VC Partners and Owl Ventures – the largest early stage Educational Technology fund in the U.S., and is on the advisory board of Vintage Investment Partners.

Isaac currently sits on the Board of Directors of Ment.io, Anagog, Shookit and Coronet. Applbaum has business operations experience building and leading companies large and small. He helped found and build SecureKey Technologies, a global leader in blockchain technologies. Applbaum served as an early investor and Director of mobile payments company Kili Technology Corporation before it was acquired by Square. Isaac sits on the Board of Directors for the Asia Society, and is a Trustee of the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden and sits on the Governance and Nominating Committees. He served as a Senior Advisor for Philanthropy to Jerusalem’s Mayor, Nir Barkat, and was the President of the California Chamber of Commerce, a 5,000 member organization that promotes venture investment, job creation, and a strong partnership between Israeli and California. Applbaum is on the Board of Directors of The Western Wall Heritage Foundation which oversees excavation of the tunnels under the Western Wall. He is also a founding board member of Him for Her for Him (HHH) which assists in the placement of women onto corporate boards of directors.

Carlos Arruda Professor of Innovation and Competitiveness Fundação Dom Cabral, Brazil

Carlos Arruda is the Professor of Innovation and Competitiveness at Fundação Dom Cabral, a Brazilian business school where he is also the executive director of the FDC Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center and director of the PGA – Advanced Management Program. He serves on the Advisory Board of Salesforce do Brasil; on the Board of Trustees of Biominas a Brazilian biotech incubator and on the Board of Directors of Riva Engenharia S/A a Brazilian construction company.

Arruda is the co-author of the books “Internacionalização de Empresas Brasileiras”; “Em busca do futuro”; “Analise da competitividade brasileira” e “Inovação ambiental”. He is the Brazilian partner for the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook and World Economic Forum Global Competitiveness Report. In 2004, Arruda founded the FDC Innovation Network (CRI), a network of executives dedicated to the management of innovation. Today there are three chapters of the CRI in Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte and Fortaleza engaging leading Brazilian and multinationals corporations from different industries.

Tomas Barazza Strategy and Innovation Culture H-Farm, Venice

After earning his degree in Economics and Business at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, Tomas completed his studies with a Master’s in Innovation Management from the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna of Pisa. Tomas started his career working for several large multinational consulting firms, followed by a few years with the Benetton Group, focusing on organizational change. He spent the following years in the consulting industry, leading projects with a substantial change management component. In 2006, he shifted his focus to entrepreneurship, working mainly with startups and digital innovation. Truls Berg is a Norwegian serial entrepreneur and a former round the world sailor that has started 12 companies with a total of 1200 employees. In Norway he’s a well known open innovation evangelist and a popular speaker, as well as the author of three books.

João Ribeiro Da Costa Head of Digital Transformation Católica-Lisbon

João Ribeiro da Costa has a lifelong experience in information technologies, combined with a practical entrepreneurial experience. Having completed his first degree in Civil Engineering in the Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal he got his Ph. D. in Lancaster University, UK. The first phase of his career was in Reseach (Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia Civil) and University teaching (Professor at the New University of Lisbon, Invited Professor at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, the University of London and University of Parma).

In 1996 he made a major switch to the private enterprise world and cofounded Chiron Information Systems, after a challenge from the NASA Kennedy Space Centre. Since then he cofounded echiron in 2000 (the first ASP and MSP in Portugal), Guestcentric (a SaaS company) in 2008 and Truewind-Chiron in 2010 (Software Development). By the end of 2013 the 3 companies employed about 120 people, with a turnover of about 8M€. In February 2014 echiron was acquired by Claranet and thus integrated in a large MSP with European scale.

In 2015 he returned to the Católica-Lisbon to launch new programmes on the Digital Business area. In 2017 he became Head of Digital Transformation at Católica-Lisbon, with the mission of helping the School defining and executing its digital vision. In his professorship role he teaches Digital Transformation at Masters, MBA, Bachelors and Executive Education and launched and coordinates the Executive Programs on Digital Acceleration, Digital Transformation, Design Thinking and RGPD/GDPR Data Protection Regulation.

At Católica João is active developing digital transformation and innovation projects with companies, both in Portugal and abroad. This activity dovetails with teaching, providing real cases that students can analyse.

Luis García de Paredes Chief Operating Officer Banco General, Panama

Luis García de Paredes is Chief Operating Officer at Banco General, the largest bank in Panama. He leads the group that supports the bank’s operations since July 2000 and he is responsible to coordinate the internal services provided by Information Technology, Business Architecture, Back Office Operations, Cybersecurity, Collections and Fraud Prevention, all based on best suitable practices and service level agreements to ensure a consistent service quality to internal users and bank’s customers.

He joined Banco General in November 1985 as an Assistant Operations Manager and in 1990 promoted to Vice President and Chief Information Officer. During his tenure in Banco General, acted as project leader for two mayor local bank mergers and one acquisition. He has been responsible for multiple important business process and technological transformation projects that resulted in operational efficiency and enabled improvements in customer service. Mr. Garcia de Paredes contributed to the evolution of the Information Technology Services and Operations embracing innovation, teamwork, lean six sigma techniques, agile practices and security as key components for the ongoing digital transformation the Bank.

He has been director of Telered for more than twenty-five years serving as president of the board of the directors for five years. For the last two years he has served has deputy director. Telered is a company made up of bank representatives, which administers the local banking switch named CLAVE (ATM and POS), ACH, Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment, as well as providing check-processing services.

Mr. García de Paredes is a member of the bank’s Ethics and Social Responsibility Committee and actively participates in the Bank´s employee volunteer program, “Neighbors in Action”. He served as director, for two years, of the United Nations Global Compact (Panamá) and acted as President of the Rotary Club of South Panama to which he joined in July 1988 achieving a perfect attendance record for thirty years. He also participates the Economic Council of the Catholic Archdiocese of Panama.

In February 2012, Mr. Garcia de Paredes hosted in Panama the KIN Winter Dialogue - Innovation in Latin America - setting the mark as the first KIN organized in the region. All international KIN participants witnessed the work in progress for the expansion of the Panama Canal and met the Panama Canal Administrator. They also experienced the innovation atmosphere of the City of Knowledge (previously a US military base), learned the secrets of the Hub of the Americas related by both the COPA´s CEO and its Chairman of the board, and had a flavor of the Panamá Banking Center interacting with the CEO of the largest local private bank.

In 1992, Mr. Garcia de Paredes became deputy director of Compañía Internacional de Seguros (IS). In 2016, he assumed the principal director role. IS was founded in 1910 and is recognized in the local market as the most technically profitable insurance company. It often ranks in the top two companies with regard to the largest market share.

Njideka U. Harry is the Founder of Youth for Technology Foundation (YTF) an international education technology nonprofit established in 2001. Sridhar is the founder and CEO of Elemental Machines, makers of smart IoT products for the life sciences industry. He previously was a founder of Misfit who developed elegant wearable products, which was acquired by Fossil in 2015 for $260M. Sridhar also founded AgaMatrix, a blood glucose monitoring company that made the world’s first medical device connecting directly to the iPhone and shipped 15+ FDA-cleared medical products, 2B+ biosensors, 6M+ glucose meters, with partnerships with Apple, Sanofi, and Walgreens. Sridhar holds over 50 US and international patents and received his Ph.D. from Cambridge University as a Marshall Scholar. Prior to co-founded Japan Innovation Network, Mr. Nishiguchi was an Executive Managing Director of Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ), Japan’s largest public-private investment fund with $20 billion investment capacity, after his post as a Worldwide Partner at Mercer. He also worked as a professional staff at the World Bank Group in Washington DC. Anil Sethi Entrepreneur in Residence ETH Zurich, Switzerland

Anil Sethi is a serial entrepreneur, author and teacher. He founded his first company Flisom in 2005, from the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich. After raising over CHF 80 million, he exited successfully. Subsequently, he co-founded a number of other technology startups in Switzerland.

In 2020, he was recognized as Associated Fellow by the United Nations for their initiative “The Defeat NCD Partnership, which focuses on addressing non communicable diseases (NCDs) in order to mitigate early mortality. NCDs are responsible for over 70% of all mortalities in the world, and include cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, to name a few. Anil serves as an entrepreneur in residence and teaches entrepreneurship at ETH. His vision is to help convert technology excellence into commercial impact. He also serves as scale-up coach in Switzerland’s national program “Innosuisse”, where he advises technology startups on how to scale. Teddy Zmrhal Global Vice-President of Design and Innovation Salesforce

Teddy Zmrhal has co-founded several startups and non-profit boards, built new teams within global organizations, and advised numerous startups. He is currently Global Vice-President of Design and Innovation at Salesforce, and just prior Director at the IDEO Singapore Studio.

Teddy has taught at the Haas School of Business, the Kellogg School of Management, the National University of Singapore, and Nanyang Technological University, among others. He was the Associate Chair of the Design MBA program at the California College of the Arts.

Teddy earned a BA from Illinois Wesleyan University, a Masters from Northwestern, and MBAs from Columbia and London Business Schools. He sits on the Board of Alonzo King’s Lines Ballet, and on two Boards for the Aspen Institute.
