Team Notes  With the win over Jacksonville State in The Swamp, Florida went 7-0 at home this season. It was just the third time in school history that a Florida team has gone 7-0 in The Swamp. The last team to do so was the 2009 team that went 13-1 overall.  Florida improved to 10-1 on the season with the 23-0 win over Jacksonville State. Seven teams have started a season 10-1 or better through 11 games. *SEC Champions Year Start Finished 1991 10-1 10-2 (lost Sugar Bowl) 1995 11-0 12-1* (lost Fiesta Bowl) 1996 10-1 12-1* (won Sugar Bowl) 2006 10-1 13-1* (won BCS Championship) 2008 10-1 13-1* (won BCS Championship) 2009 11-0 13-1 (won Sugar Bowl) 2012 10-1  With a win against Jacksonville State, becomes the third Florida coach to record 10 wins in their second season as head coach. won 10 games in 1991and won 13 in 2006.  It was the first meeting between Florida and Jacksonville State, giving the Gators a 1-0 record over the Gamecocks.  In the second half, Florida’s defense held JSU to five-straight three-and-outs.  With Jon Bostic’s return for a touchdown in the third quarter, Florida has scored three touchdowns this season on non-offensive plays.  The shutout of Jacksonville State is the Gators’ second of the season and the third under Muschamp (Kentucky and UAB, respectively). It is the first time that Florida has had two shutouts since 2006.  Florida has only allowed 58 points at home this season.  All of Florida’s points were scored by seniors: Jon Bostic (6), (6) and (11).

Individual Notes  With his 122 yards on the day, Gillislee now has 964 yards on the season.  Gillislee’s 17-yard run in the third quarter gave him over 100 yards for the game. It was the fourth time he has rushed for over 100 yards in a game, and the fourth time in his career.  Senior running back Mike Gillislee scored one rushing touchdown against Jacksonville State. He scored his eighth rushing touchdown of the season and ninth overall.  Sophomore quarterback Jacoby Brissett made his third start for the Gators. Brissett finished the day with a career-high 14 completions on 22 attempts. He also set a new career-high with 154 passing yards.  Freshman running back Matt Jones tied his career-long rush of 17 yards in the first quarter on the Gators first scoring drive. He had three carries for 34 yards during the drive.  Senior Caleb Sturgis has 66 career-made field goals; he is one shy of tying Jeff Chandlers’ school record of 67.  For Sturgis, out of his four missed field goals on the season, three have been blocked.  Senior linebacker Jon Bostic intercepted his second pass of the season and returned it seven yards for a touchdown to give the Gators a 17-0 lead in the third quarter. Bostic now has two on the season and it was his first career interception return for a touchdown.

Members of this group were part of an SEC Championship team. They played in two SEC Championships Games, four-consecutive January bowl games, two BCS Bowls and the National Championship Game. The following mem of the 2012 UF Senior Class: Nick Alajajian, Jon Bostic, John Crofoot, Josh Evans, Cole Gilliam, Mike Gillislee, Chris Guido, Frankie Hammond, Jr., Omarius Hines, Omar Hunter, Lerentee McCray, Xavier Nixon, , Scott Peek, John Reichardt, Sam Robey, Jesse Schmitt, Caleb Sturgis and James Wilson.  Corporal Duane Dewey, a Korean War veteran and Medal of Honor Recipient, was honorary captain for today’s game. His Medal of Honor Commemorative Coin was used for today’s coin toss.  Each Florida senior on the team was recognized before the game.  During the first timeout of the first quarter, Dr. Melvin C. Dace was honored for his 17 years as Chief of Stadium Medial Operations for the Athletic Association. Today was his last game as Stadium Medical Director. The Alachua County Fire Rescue presented Dr. Pace with the fire chief’s helmet, declaring him as an Honorary Chief with Alachua County Fire Rescue  Three World War II veterans, Bob Gasche, Don Rothwell and Tom Santarsiero were honored during the second timeout of the first quarter.  Between the first and second quarters, 20 student veterans were honored for their service to the United States. These men and women served in the United State Military, having been deployed to various foreign lands such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa, Cuba, Asia and Europe. All of these heroic Americans are now students at the University of Florida.  Bo Lauramore was honored for his 39 years of service with the University Athletic Association, retiring after the end of this season. Bo has worked with the UAA Maintenance department since 1974, where he has served as director for the past 27 years. Today’s game marked his 237thy game that he has worked.
