The report presents the procedures applied and the experiences gained as part of this pilot in the Bago River Sub-basin during the period 2015 - 2018. The report explains the basic principles for River Basin Management Approach and provides a brief overview of the history of water management in Myanmar including public participation. The report describes and reflects on, the efforts undertaken in the project to delineate the administrative Sittaung River Basin Area with Sub-basin Areas. -

The cultivation of climate resilient, adaptive and underutilized wild crops along with modern crop varieties is proposed as an innovative strategy for managing future agricultural production under the changing environmental conditions. Such underutilized and neglected wild crops have been recently projected by the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations as ‘future smart crops’ as they are not only hardy, and resilient to changing climatic conditions, but also rich in nutrients. They need only minimal care and input, and therefore, they can be easily grown in degraded and nutrient-poor soil also. Moreover, they can be used for improving the adaptive traits of modern crops. The contribution of such neglected, and underutilized crops and their wild relatives to global food production is estimated to be around 115–120 billion US$ per annum. Anthocephalus cadamba, Aegle marmelos, Emblica officinalis and Moringa oleifera. Methods and Findings: In vitro antioxidant capacities were evaluated via free radical scavenging assays: DPPH, FRAP, ABTS, phosphomolybdate assay and total reducing capability. In vitro anticancer activity was evaluated against three human cancer cell lines SK-OV-3, A498 and T-24 by SRB assay. Quantitative estimation of phenolic, flavonoids, flavonols and Vitamin C content was done calorimetrically. Spectral characterization of phytochemicals was done via UV-Vis, FTIR and GC-HRMS analysis. Among all the leave extracts, aqueous and hydro-ethanolic leave extracts of E. officinalis has highest reducing power and lowest IC50 value for DPPH free radical with higher phenolic content.
