Caravan Pouch You will need: 2 pieces of fabric 41/2” by 11” for top of caravan 1 piece of fabric 61/2” by 11” for bottom of caravan 1 piece of fabric 15” by 11” for lining 1 piece of wadding 15” by 11” 2 strips of fabric 21/2” by 19” and 2 strips 21/2” by 4” all in same fabric as bottom of caravan This is the binding) 18” Zip Small pieces of fabric for door, door window and curtains Bondaweb Trim for flowers Buttons for door handle and wheel Embroidery floss Pattern Method 1. Cut out all fabric. 2. Match long side of top of caravan to long side of bottom of caravan, right sides together, sew together using a ¼” seam. Press seam to dark fabric side. Repeat with other long side of top of caravan to other long edge on bottom of caravan. 3. Layer front of bag, wadding and lining fabric together – I used a fabric glue spray to secure them but pins will do. 4. Quilt all 3 layers together – I used my walking foot on my machine to sew straight lines across the fabric, but cross hatching works well too. 5. Fold your quilted fabric in half so that the seams between the top and bottom parts of the caravan match up – I used pins to hold the seams together. 6. Place pattern on top of the fabric, pin and cut out. 7. Press your long binding strips in half lengthways and machine stitch to curved edges of pouch. Clip curves then pull the binding over to the lining side of the pouch and hand stitch (or machine) the binding down. 8. Repeat on other curved edge of pouch. 9. Trace the door, window and curtain pieces onto Bondaweb (or similar) and iron them onto your chosen fabric. Position onto right side of pouch – see picture for placement. Iron on. 10. Using embroidery floss, stitch the fabric pieces down. If you want to add any other decoration such as bunting, flowers buttons etc do this now. TAKE CARE NOT TO STITCH THROUGH ALL THREE LAYERS, otherwise you will be able to see the design on the inside of the pouch. 11. Tack one side of the zip to the inside of the pouch and carefully sew in place. Repeat with the other side. 12. Turn pouch inside out and pin the base together as shown and stitch. 13. Trim excess fabric away and attach short strip of binding to neaten these seams. 14. finally ladder stitch about 2” up each side of the pouch and you’re done! Enjoy your super dooper caravan pouch. .
