Withdrawal Announcement IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 1 A09-0256 DB2 The packaging for DB2 V9.5 for Linux®, UNIX®, and Windows® is being updated to offer greater value to our users and customers. With the expanded usage of Web 2.0, service oriented architecture and the increasingly ubiquitous usage of XML throughout software tools and applications customers are finding XML being used in all parts of their IT infrastructure. To meet the needs of our customers' evolving needs the pureXML feature will now be included in all editions of DB2 for Linux, UNIX and Windows. Customers will now be able to leverage the new pureXML features in DB2 V9.5 such as; parameter passing from SQL to XQuery, trigger support on XML columns, schema evolution, and sub-document update shorten development timelines, helping faster delivery of business applications. In addition to the addition of pureXML the overall packaging of all DB2 versions is being simplified. To allow for easier data sharing between multiple IBM data servers the Homogeneous Federation feature is being included with all editions of DB2. Backup compression will also be available in DB2 Express Edition, DB2 Workgroup Server Edition and DB2 Enterprise Server Edition. The DB2 Query Optimization feature for DB2 Workgroup Server Edition is being withdrawn but all existing customers will retain their previous entitlements. Further details on entitlements and the new DB2 edition packaging can be found in the DB2 Information Center for DB2 V9.5. IBM Informix Dynamic Server (IDS) IDS V11.10 will be withdrawn from marketing on September 30, 2009. Media packs for IDS V11.10 will no longer be available to order. The replacement is IDS V11.50, with enhanced functionality and extended high availability with workload balancing when using the Connection Manager. The packaging for IBM Informix Dynamic Server (IDS) V11.50 is being updated to offer enhanced high availability to customers. IDS V11.50 further enhances the functionality and benefits of high-availability and business continuity. Customers may now deploy a wide range of high-availability options, with multiple secondary servers residing in different locations worldwide and well as deploying in a high- availability cluster environment with application transparency. IDS V11.50 offers a choice of cluster solutions which can help to lower hardware costs, increase scalability, reduce administration costs, and the ability to perform work on all the secondary servers deployed in all locations, while maintaining business continuity across the globe. IDS V11.50 now includes the High-availability Data Replication (HDR) feature in the Workgroup Edition at no additional charge. The 'for-charge' HDR for Workgroup Edition option has been withdrawn. In IDS V11.50 Workgroup Edition, customers may now configure up to two HDR secondary server nodes, for idle standby or active reads (but not active writes). The Parallel Performance for Workgroup Feature has been withdrawn, but all existing customers with existing entitlements to this Feature will retain specified grandfathered entitlement to use this feature in subsequent versions of the Workgroup Edition. See the Replacement information section for further details. IBM Canada Ltd. Withdrawal Announcement IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 2 A09-0256 DB2 pureXML functionality is being added back into DB2 Express Edition, DB2 Workgroup Server Edition and DB2 Enterprise Server Edition ensuring that all customers can use and benefit from DB2's pureXML capabilities. The Homogeneous Federation and backup compression functionality will also be included in all editions of DB2. The DB2 Query Optimization Feature for Workgroup is being withdrawn and is no longer offered with the DB2 Workgroup Edition. Customers who already have previously acquired entitlements to the DB2 Query Optimization Feature for Workgroup will, 1) retain their existing entitlement to use the Feature in conjunction with a validly licensed current version of DB2 Workgroup Edition, and as long as you remain current with your support for the DB2 Workgroup Edition 2) be granted an additional entitlement to use the feature code that accompanies a future version of DB2 Workgroup Edition for which the customer acquires a license, to the extent of the existing previously purchased Feature entitlement, but such use may only be in support of (a) a deployed application or workload that was running on a current DB2 Workgroup Edition as of February 10, 2009 or (b) an expanded deployment of such an application or workload. The use entitlement of the DB2 Query Optimization Feature for Workgroup includes using functions for materialized query tables, multidimensional clustering, query parallelism and the connection concentrator. This use entitlement of the Query Optimization feature of future code of a new version of DB2 Workgroup Edition does not extend to new applications or workload deployments, such as, for example, new workloads or applications established after February 10, 2009 running on or with any instance of a future version of a DB2 Workgroup Edition product. For use of the DB2 Query Optimization Feature for any such new workload or application deployments, customers must purchase or upgrade to a DB2 Enterprise Server Edition. There is no replacement for the DB2 Query Optimization feature for DB2 Workgroup. The IDS HDR for Workgroup Edition functionality is now included in the IDS Workgroup Edition. Customers may use HDR at no additional charge for the feature. The charges for each HDR secondary server remain the same for IDLE standby and HOT active modes. IDS Parallel Performance for Workgroup Feature Code Usage Entitlement The IDS Parallel Performance for Workgroup Feature is being withdrawn and is no longer offered with the IDS Workgroup Edition. However, customers who already have previously acquired entitlements to the Parallel Performance for Workgroup Feature will, 1) retain their existing entitlement to use the Feature in conjunction with a validly licensed current version of IDS Workgroup Edition, and as long as you remain current with your support for the IDS Workgroup Edition 2) be granted an additional entitlement to use the feature code that accompanies new versions of Workgroup Edition for which the customer has acquired a license, to the extent of the existing previously purchased Feature entitlement, but such use may only be in support of (a) a deployed application or workload that was running on a current IDS Workgroup Edition as of February 10, 2009 or (b) an expanded deployment of such an application or workload. The use entitlement of the Parallel Performance for Workgroup Feature include using functions for parallel query, high performance loader, parallel index build, table/index/dbspaces partitioning, and parallel backup and restore.
