Of all the legendary heavy metal singers, Ronnie James Dio was the greatest of them all. Born Ronald James Padavona on July 10, 1942 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, he fronted a holy trinity of iconic bands – Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Dio. And while there were good times and bad in his lengthy career, the great man went out on a high. The last album he made before his death on May 16, 2010 was with Heaven & Hell – the band comprised of the same line-up that recorded the Black Sabbath album Mob Rules in 1981. Dio was first introduced to the world stage in 1975 when he and three fellow members of the group Elf were absorbed into former Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow.

  • Jorn Song for Ronnie James
Song For Ronnie James Jorn There's a voice in the world for the Lonely. There's a fire in the heart of a King. And the Broken One's will know, They are not the only, When He starts to sing. I turn to face the Sun, When the pain is calling. My mind is on the run. Another Angel falling..... The Legend lives. Like a rainbow in the Dark. For the Children, And the runaway Heart. When you Dream Evil, And your world is lost and blind, He will move your inner Soul, With the sound of Rock N Roll! It's Rock N Roll! One more for the vision, Let's burn one more for the road. We Speed at Night, Yeah! It's our Fire and Light! We are Legion, And the Legacy lives on. I must save the Crystal Ball, When the Wizard starts to fall. I can hear the Call! This is a Song... This is a Song for Ronnie James. Will never lose it, the Soul and Music. Come join the Family, All you Children of the Sea. Sail on forever and be the Melody. Do you find it strange that someone wrote this song? But I feel the Magic, And it makes me strong. Like a book of Revelation, I will find my Inspiration. You are always there, If I'm in Hell or Heaven. One Night in the City. Hear the Master of the Moon. Feel the Power, Sending shivers across the room. Neon Knights of the Darknes. They are hungry for the Rock.

Teos aloittaa kauaskantoisen jatkumon suhteessa yhtyeen albumituotantoon, jossa metaforat ja symboliikka näyttävät johdattavan toistuvien teemojen äärelle. Tutkimuksessani lyriikan fiktiivinen maailma yhdistyy eksistentiaalifilosofisesti jäsenneltyyn todellisuuteen. Fiktion ja todellisuuden vuorovaikutus on värittynyt yhtäältä rinnakkaisuuksilla ja toisaalta ristiriidoilla, jotka nousevat esiin kahta maailmaa yhteen punovasta tulkinnasta.

The story of HOUNDS, and the St. Louis-based quartet’s major label debut, CATTLE IN THE SKY, just may be the epitome of rock-and-roll success in the 21st century. After beginning with a shiny pop sound, HOUNDS pivoted to a more aggressive brand of rock laced with rich and resounding harmonies, returning to and embracing old-school influences, The Beatles, The Doors and The Beach Boys. They changed their name to HOUNDS—a wink to alt-rockers, The Districts—and by 2017, released a self-titled LP of tracks cut live in the studio. In 2019, Jordan suggested the band to audition for the second season of the nationwide band competition, Who Will Rock You?, a web-series sponsored by TopGolf venues. They went on to win the competition winning a recording contract and partnership with a prominent management company. Built on vibrant, ringing harmonies and concentrated, muscular riffs, the four crafted a forward-moving, immediate, and pulsing collection of songs ranging from greasy rumble-seat rock to up-to-the-minute, angst ridden modern musings. Start with “Shake Me Up” and follow the quartet down the dragstrip lined with poodle-skirt Bettys and their denim-clad boyfriends; a veritable mash-up of jukebox soul and reformist rock.

  • Will Holograms Dominate Live Performances in Rock Music in The
Rock and Roll Never Dies -Will Holograms Dominate Live Performances in Rock Music in the Future? The Hologram of Deceased Singer Ronnie James Dio in the Context of Rock Authenticity Master Thesis Master Applied Musicology 2017/2018 - University of Utrecht Written by Alina Vietoris Student Number: 6306101 Thesis Supervisor: Sara Lambrecht Abstract Nowadays, technology is an inevitable part of our world. It keeps developing rapidly, resulting in new ways of entertainment and simplification of our everyday lives. Naturally, technology has an influence on live music performances as well. In 2016, the "hologram" of deceased rock legend Ronnie James Dio had its debut at the Wacken festival in Germany, later followed by a world tour. This hologram performance was not the first of its kind, and it will probably not be the last. However, the potential success of hologram technology in the music industry appears to be genre-specific: what is accepted in pop music is not necessarily accepted in rock music. Like every other genre, rock is defined by its own underlying values, traditions and politics of authenticity. This thesis is based upon the results of a survey which was designed to examine how hologram technology is perceived by rock audiences. The aim of this research was finding an answer to the question if hologram performances can dominate or even replace live performances in rock music in the future. The survey results show that hologram performances in rock music are predominantly perceived in a negative way. This thesis examines the survey outcomes in the light of rock authenticity and aims at explaining the negative perception of hologram performances in rock music.
