3 ASHLEY EYRE assistant coach

ASHLEY EYRE, the former Ashley Bodily, begins her first season as an assistant coach after graduating from Florida Atlantic University in May. Eyre brings the knowledge gained by four years (’98-’01) of playing under the direction of FAU’s head coach Jody Brown. She knows the style of play, what to expect from opponents as well as the ins and outs of the University. During her career as a Lady Owl, Eyre helped guide the team to two conference championships and two NCAA appearances. She was able to play in front of a home crowd in both NCAA tournaments, both bids were extended from California and both were close to her hometown of Fremont. Against the University of the Pacific in 1998, the freshman earned her first start of the season, six kills and two digs. She again showed her potential in 1999 as she posted a team-high nine kills against Stanford to go along with six digs. Eyre’s starting role for 3 1/2 years propelled her into the FAU record books. She is listed first in attack attempts and third in kills for her four- year career. She also earned All-Conference Honorable Mention her sophomore season. In 2001 she was selected to the A-Sun All- Tournament team after FAU competed in the conference finals. While attending college, she helped coach camps with Brown around the country. Besides playing sports, Eyre was active in the Students Athletic Academic Committee (SAAC) serving as president for two years. She also earned All-Academic honors during her four- year stint at FAU. For her outstanding community service and extracurricular activities at FAU, she earned the University Caring Award at commencement ceremonies where she sat on the dias.
