It is an extraordinary annual event attended by thousands of conservatives who are interested in promoting the standards, ideals, policy and philosophy of Republican government. Linda Schlinger and I (Dot Kazanjian) attended in 2018 and we were so impressed with the program that we decided to go again this year; where the conference was just as informative and as exciting, if not more so, than 2018. The program covered a wide array of issues both political and cultural that affect all Americans in our daily lives. The spectrum ranged from our leadership role in the global community; economics and our concerns for fair trade agreements; gun rights; healthcare; the environment; anti-semitism; abortion on demand and finally to fulfilling our individual responsibilities as citizens for creating a society that cares for our country, communities, families, the well-being and dignity of all individuals. The programs were delivered in several formats including panel discussion, break-out sessions and workshops. In all instances the leader was an authority on the topic. A few of the more prominent leaders included Senator Lindsey Graham, Dr. Sebastian Gorka, Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, Judge Jeanine Pirro, Ambassador Dora Gold, Governor Scott Walker, Rep Jim Jordan, Gordon Chang and Byron York. We also heard Vice-President Mike Pence speak on this administration’s accomplishments in the last two years. There was applause through-out the 40 minute speech as he enumerated all that has been done in addressing the current issues, facing us and the problems left behind by the previous administration. The meeting ended on Saturday with rousing cheers for President Donald Trump. He had just returned from a 20 hour flight from Vietnam and here he was standing on stage at CPAC. In 2018 he had committed to coming back in 2019 and he kept his promise. He spoke for almost two hours, off script, as only he can do. What Linda and I thought amazing as that he was not delivering a speech, but rather having a personal conversation with many thousands of people. He spoke of the many issues he is dealing with, and how we need to go forward in the next two years. Needless to say he was amazing! We need to stand behind him, and do all we can to ensure he gets re-elected in 2020 allowing him to continue his pledge. MAGA! !4 Volume 12 issue 4 APRIL 2019 The March luncheon featured TV and radio talk show host Wayne Allyn Root. It was a excellent and very informative luncheon & here are a few pictures for your enjoyment !5 Volume 12 issue 4 APRIL 2019 APRIL SPEAKER BYRON BROOKS We are very pleased to have Byron be our April speaker. Byron is a U.S. Army combat veteran and Las Vegas native. He was recruited by a private security firm to work for the Department of Defense and later the U.S. Department of State in support of multiple high threat government operations overseas. Byron’s experience included managing multimillion-dollar government projects in remote, hostile locations across the globe. Byron returned to Las Vegas in 2012 and has continued to serve his community. For over three years, Byron represented the community as a Use of Force Board Member with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. He was responsible for responding to officer-involved shootings and walking the scene with detectives from the police department’s Critical Incident Review Team to determine if officer actions complied with department policy. Byron is spearheading the Nevada Republican Collation. The Collation is working to bring all Republican groups together so we can ensure that Republicans are voted into State offices. Byron will discuss how we can be part of this and he will be talking about his work as a mentor for the Veterans Treatment Court. !6 Volume 12 issue 4 APRIL 2019 UPCOMING EVENTS • April 4, 2019 - Legislative Day, Carson City Assembly side of Legislative Building • April 5, 2019 - Friday - NFRW’s Campaign Management School - Airport Plaza, Reno • April 12-13, 2019 - Spring NvFRw Membership BOD meeting - South Point Hotel, Las Vegas • September 25-29 NFRW Convention: Indianapolis, IN • October 18-19, 2019 - Fall NvFrw Convention/BOD/ Membership meeting, Eldorado Resort, Reno • Our SHRW May speaker will be John Tsarpalas, President of the Nevada Policy Research Institute !7 Volume 12 issue 4 APRIL 2019 There are many bills in the State Legislature on which you may want to give your opinion. • Chapter 4 the Right-Wing Media Enablers of Anti-Islam Propaganda
Chapter 4 The right-wing media enablers of anti-Islam propaganda Spreading anti-Muslim hate in America depends on a well-developed right-wing media echo chamber to amplify a few marginal voices. The think tank misinforma- tion experts and grassroots and religious-right organizations profiled in this report boast a symbiotic relationship with a loosely aligned, ideologically-akin group of right-wing blogs, magazines, radio stations, newspapers, and television news shows to spread their anti-Islam messages and myths. The media outlets, in turn, give members of this network the exposure needed to amplify their message, reach larger audiences, drive fundraising numbers, and grow their membership base. Some well-established conservative media outlets are a key part of this echo cham- ber, mixing coverage of alarmist threats posed by the mere existence of Muslims in America with other news stories. Chief among the media partners are the Fox News empire,1 the influential conservative magazine National Review and its website,2 a host of right-wing radio hosts, The Washington Times newspaper and website,3 and the Christian Broadcasting Network and website.4 They tout Frank Gaffney, David Yerushalmi, Daniel Pipes, Robert Spencer, Steven Emerson, and others as experts, and invite supposedly moderate Muslim and Arabs to endorse bigoted views. In so doing, these media organizations amplify harm- ful, anti-Muslim views to wide audiences. (See box on page 86) In this chapter we profile some of the right-wing media enablers, beginning with the websites, then hate radio, then the television outlets. The websites A network of right-wing websites and blogs are frequently the primary movers of anti-Muslim messages and myths.

Endorsement Committee This year, we formed an Endorsement Committee comprised of 18 members plus additional Libertarian leadership; the “Committee.” The Committee members conducted their own independent research on each of the candidates and asked them questions at our events. The Committee members took notes and made recommendations on grades and endorsements. Endorsement Committee Chair: Jason Weinman Committee Members: Jason G Smith Jim Duensing Jason Nellis Lesley Chan John McCormack JD Smith Lou Pombo Brady Bowyer Scott Lafata Tim Hagan Brett H. Pojunis Brandon Ellyson Debra Dedmon Nick Klein Andrew Lea Ross Williams Tarina Dark Steve Brown Format - Why "Speed Dating?" The Libertarian Party of Nevada hosted "Speed Dating" events over 2 days at different venues in Las Vegas. The goal was to meet as many candidates as possible in a format similar to speed dating. LPNevada endorsed Candidates in non‐partisan races and graded Candidates in partisan races for the 2014 General Elections. Most organizations do not get one‐on‐one interaction with the candidates; we felt this is important. Endorsements and Grading Non‐Partisan candidates received either a positive (thumbs up) or negative (thumbs down) endorsement from the Committee. Partisan Candidates received a grade of 1 to 5 stars. Candidates who received 1 star were not very Libertarian and candidates who received 5 stars were very good in regards to their position on issues important to Libertarians. The Libertarian Party of Nevada has the following 15 Candidate on the 2014 Ballot. Adam Sanacore, Assembly District 21 Lou Pombo, Assembly District 37 Chris Dailey, White Pine County Commission Louis Gabriel, Assembly District 32 Donald W.

  • Administration of Donald J. Trump, 2019 Remarks At
Administration of Donald J. Trump, 2019 Remarks at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Oxon Hill, Maryland March 2, 2019 The President. Oh, thank you very much. Thank you very much. And thank you very much also to a man named Matt Schlapp. What a job he's done. And to CPAC—I actually started quite a while ago at CPAC and came here, probably made my first real political speech. And I enjoyed it so much that I came back for a second one, then a third. Then I said, what the hell, let's run for President. Right? But it's wonderful to be back with so many great patriots, old friends, and brave young conservatives. What a future you have. Our movement and our future in our country is unlimited. What we've done together has never been done in the history maybe of beyond of country, maybe in the history of the world. They came from the mountains and the valleys and the cities. They came from all over. And what we did in 2016—the election, we call it, with a capital "e"—it's never been done before. And we're going to do it, I think, again in 2020, and the numbers are going to be even bigger. Audience members. U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.! The President. And we all had to endure, as I was running. So you had 17 Republicans, plus me. [Laughter] And I was probably more of a conservative than a Republican. People just didn't quite understand that.

Bauer, and Magda Konieczna Funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Table of Contents Executive Summary 3 Introduction 7 Boundaries and Tensions Within the Online Conservative News Field 15 Training, Standards, and Practices 41 Columbia Journalism School Conservative Newswork 3 Executive Summary Through much of the 20th century, the U.S. news diet was dominated by journalism outlets that professed to operate according to principles of objectivity and nonpartisan balance. Today, news outlets that openly proclaim a political perspective — conservative, progressive, centrist, or otherwise — are more central to American life than at any time since the first journalism schools opened their doors. Conservative audiences, in particular, express far less trust in mainstream news media than do their liberal counterparts. These divides have contributed to concerns of a “post-truth” age and fanned fears that members of opposing parties no longer agree on basic facts, let alone how to report and interpret the news of the day in a credible fashion. Renewed popularity and commercial viability of openly partisan media in the United States can be traced back to the rise of conservative talk radio in the late 1980s, but the expansion of partisan news outlets has accelerated most rapidly online. This expansion has coincided with debates within many digital newsrooms. Should the ideals journalists adopted in the 20th century be preserved in a digital news landscape? Or must today’s news workers forge new relationships with their publics and find alternatives to traditional notions of journalistic objectivity, fairness, and balance? Despite the centrality of these questions to digital newsrooms, little research on “innovation in journalism” or the “future of news” has explicitly addressed how digital journalists and editors in partisan news organizations are rethinking norms.
