RIBSA Players World IBSF U-16’s – Russia The Irish U-21 team also won the Home International U-21 Cup event in Leeds RIBSA Players World IBSF – Myanmar Ireland win 2018 Home Internationals Irish Retain Title in Leeds The Republic of Ireland Senior Snooker Team retained the Prince of Wales Home Internationals Championships in fantastic style in the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds. Irish team of Brendan O Donoghue, Rodney Goggins, Greg Casey and Michael Judge played the perfect weekend in defending their title with 5 wins from their 5 matches. Michael Judge had the tournament high break with his 112 break. Ireland have won this title on six occasions in 1993, 2000, 2001, 2012, 2017 and now 2018. Ireland win 2018 Home Internationals Irish Retain Title in Leeds The Republic of Ireland Billiards Association would like to congratulate the players on this fantastic achievement on defending their Prince of Wales Home International Title. The Republic Of Ireland Senior Teams have won the Home International on six occasions. In 1993 Tom Gleeson , Joe Delaney, Paul O Donoghue, John Farrell, Colm Gilcrest, JohnBuckley James Lenihan , Jason Watson and the team was managed by Mick Kelly. In 2000 Eugene Hughes, Jason Watson, Robert Murphy, Martin McCrudden, Pat McCafrey, Rodney Goggins, Gary Hardiman and TJ Dowling. The team was managed by Don O Donoghue and Coach PJ Nolan. In 2001 Gary Hardiman, Martin McCrudden, Rodney Goggins, Eugene Hughes, Brendan O Donoghue, John Sutton, Johnny Farrell ,The team was managed by Don O Donoghue and Coach PJ Nolan. In 2012 Brendan O Donoghue, Rodney Goggins, Johnny Williams, Greg Casey and Robert Redmond and the Coach was PJ Nolan. In 2017 Michael Judge, TJ Dowling, John Farrell and Robert Murphy and the Coach was PJ Nolan. In 2018 Brendan O Donoghue, Michael Judge, Rodney Goggins and Greg Casey and the Coach was PJ Nolan. 2018 Home Internationals - Leeds Under 21’s win HIBSF Cup Title The Republic of Ireland Under 21 Snooker Team of Aaron Hill, Ross Bulman, Ronan Whyte and Noel Landers won the 2018 Home Internationals Under 21 Cup in the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds. In the Semi Finals Ireland beat Belgium 5-1 to qualify for the Final against N. Ireland and our team were very focused from the first frame to win 7-0 to win the first ever running of the HIBSF U-21 Cup event. •New Format this Year This year the Under 21 event was played in two groups with the top two teams qualifying for the Home Internationals and the bottom two teams will qualify for the Cup event. National Coach PJ Nolan ” said the boys played great snooker and we came to win the Home Internationals but winning the Cup is a great way to start of the new season for our juniors ” Team Captain Noel Landers thanked everyone and said it was a pleasure playing on this team and our coach PJ Nolan kept up focused after our defeat to England B to win this title for RIBSA. 2018 Home Internationals - Leeds The Republic of Ireland Masters Snooker Team played fantastic snooker in the 2018 Home Internationals in the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds this weekend. The team of John O Sullivan, Stephen Walsh, George O Hara and Dylan Rees won three matches, drew one and lost only one match in a superb run in Leeds to finish in second place. The young Republic of Ireland Under 16 Snooker Team of Ryan McGuirk, Leone Crowley, Jack Sheridan and Patrick Daly played fantastic snooker this week in the 2018 Home Internationals in the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds. Three of the team were playing in their first ever Home Internationals and with three of them under-age next season the future looks good. Two early defeats to England saw our boys record three wins against Wales, Belgium and Scotland. 2018 Home Internationals - Leeds The Republic of Ireland Ladies Snooker Team of Ronda Sheldreck and Leah Brady competed well in this years in the 2018 Home Internationals in the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds. Ireland’s Ronda Sheldreck won her match against England C to give them a draw in the match with Engalnd A. Well done Girls!!!! RIBSA had a full team of officials at the 2018 Home Internationals. RIBSA had three referees with Pat Mooney and Shane Mason and John Kehoe. Ger Murray was the Assistant Tournament Director and Jim Leacy was the HIBSF Chairman. The Republic of Ireland Billiards Team of Lloyd Myers, Aonghus McAnally, John Kehoe and Team Manager Brendan Devlin played fantastic Billiards in Leeds. John Kehoe finished at the top of the player stats. Team Ireland finished in 3rd place while it was England A who won the Billiards title. McPhee & Sutton Win National Doubles Championships The 2018 RIBSA National Scotch Doubles Championship was the first official event of the new RIBSA season when it was played on Saturday the 1st of September in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow. Teams of John Sutton & Brian McPhee played Philip Browne & Brendan Thomas qualified for the final after superb wins on the day but it was the team of John Sutton & Brian McPhee who won the National Doubles Title. •The Final John Sutton & Brian McPhee 3-2 Philip Browne & Brendan Thomas •Semi-Finals Philip Browne & Brendan Thomas beat Robert Murphy & Chris Cooney 3-2 John Sutton & Brian McPhee beat Rodney Goggins & Adrian Morrissey 3-2 This event was played in groups with four teams qualifying for the Semi Finals. RIBSA would like to congratulate all the players on a great event and to TD Shane Mason on running the event on the day and finally to the Ivy Rooms SC on hosting the event. Goggins Win National Club Singles Championships The Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association would like to announce that Rodney Goggins from the Liam Mellows SC Wexford won the 2018 RIBSA Club Singles Snooker Championships on Sunday the 2nd of September in the Ivy Rooms SC in Carlow. In the final Rodney beat John Sutton from Potters SC 3 Frames to nil in a high quality final. RIBSA would like to congratulate all the players from the various Club on entering this event and to TD Shane Mason on running the event and finally to the Ivy Rooms SC on hosting the successful event. Quarter-Finals Each Registered Club could Seamus Brereton 0 v 3 Rodney Goggins have nominated two players into Philip Browne n/s v Ryan McGuirk this event and ONLY Registered Chris Cooney 2 v 3 Noel Landers Clubs were allowed to Adrian Morrissey 0 v 3 John Sutton nominate players into this event. Semi-Finals All clubs can download the Club Rodney Goggins 3 v 0 Ryan McGuirk Form via the web site under Downloads to become Noel Landers 1 v 3 John Sutton members. RIBSA Club Final membership’s runs from January Rodney Goggins 3 v 0 John Sutton to January each season. Celbridge Snooker Club will hold a qualifier for the Irish Masters on the new World Seniors Tour from the 23rd-25th of November. You can enter on the link below. To enter you must go on line to the World Seniors Web Site and enter via the Registration page. 2018 World IBSF Championships Myanmar Men, Masters, Ladies and Billiards World Championships RIBSA announced this week the following players have confirmed they will represent the Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association in the 2018 IBSF World Billiards & Snooker Championships in Myanmar from the 12th November till 27th November. The Irish Players are: •Men’s Snooker Greg Casey – Crucible SC Ross Bulman – Youghal CYMS Noel Landers –Youghal CYMS Our National Coach PJ Nolan will hold two planned IBSF Snooker •Masters Snooker Training Camps on Thursday the John Farrell – Fairview SC 27th of September and Friday the Mark Tuite – St Johns SC 28th of September in the Ivy Rooms Anthony Bonnar – Northwest SC Snooker Club in Carlow. World IBSF U-16 Russia RIBSA Junior Players RIBSA announced this week the following players who have confirmed and will represent the Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association in the 2018 IBSF World Under 16 Snooker Championships in St. Petersburg, Russia from the 30th September till 6th October. •Aaron Hill – Crucible SC •Ryan McGuirk – R&R SC •Leone Crowley – Shooters SC •Jack Newman – Fermoy SC •Sean Walsh – Douglas SC •Lewis Casserly – R&R SC The Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association have announced details of a sponsor opportunities for members and business to get more involved in the game each season. Gold, Silver and Bronze level of sponsors is available at the cost of €1000, €500 and €100 per season.

    aus: Hugo Kastner: SNOOKER – Spieler, Regeln & Rekorde Update: Juli 2012 Geschichte der „Major“ Ranking- & Einladungsturniere Erst nach der Weltmeisterschaft 1976 entschied man sich dafür, auch im Snooker eine Weltrangliste zu erstellen, zunächst allerdings nur auf die World Championships der Jahre 1974 bis 1976 Bezug nehmend. Die erste Rangliste sah folgendermaßen aus: 1. Ray Reardon – 2. Alex Higgins – 3. Eddie Charlton – 4. Fred Davis – 5. Graham Miles – 6. Rex Williams – 7. Perrie Mans – 8. John Spencer – 9. Dennis Taylor – 10. Gary Owen – 11. John Dunning – 12. Jim Meadowcroft – 13. Cliff Thorburn – 14. Bill Werbeniuk – 15. John Pulman – 16. David Taylor. Bis zur Saison 1981/82, als das Jameson International (später Scottish Open) und das Professional Players Tournament (später Grand Prix) dazukamen, gab es keine Änderungen am System. 1984 folgte das Lada Classic (später Mercantile Classic), in dem Steve Davis zwei Jahre zuvor das erste Maximum Break bei den Professionals gelungen war. Im Jahr darauf kamen die ungemein prestigeträchtigen Turniere UK Championship und British Open dazu, wobei gleichzeitig große Änderungen im Punktesystem erfolgten. Ab der Saison 1988/89 ergänzten mit dem nur einmal als Ranking-Event ausgetragenen Canadian Masters sowie den European Open (heute Malta Cup) bzw. German Open weitere Ranking- Veranstaltungen den Kalender. 1990 öffnete die WPBSA den Markt in Asien mit Turnieren in Dubai, in Thailand, dem Asian Open (heute China Open) und dem Hong Kong Open. 1992 wurde zum einzigen Mal das Strachan Open als Ranglistenturnier gespielt. Alle diese Veranstaltungen wechselten jedoch mehr oder weniger oft den Schauplatz. Über die weiteren zahlreichen Ranking- und Invitational Events der folgenden zwei Jahrzehnte gibt die unten folgende tabellarische Aufstellung ein gutes Bild.

The World Seniors Championship returns to Scunthorpe, and once again the winner will take his place at Ponds Forge in the 2018 Worlds. 4 Qualifiers battled it out with the likes of Stephen Hendry, and eventual winner Peter Lines, in March, this time 8 Amateur qualifiers will get their chance. The dates are 21st – 24th March 2018. The UK Seniors Championship will be staged at the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill, Surrey. 8 Legends will battle it out with 4 qualifiers with the winner carrying off £7500. The dates are Tuesday 24th – Thursday 26th October. The iconic venue Goffs, in County Kildare, will once again stage the Irish Masters, albeit the Seniors Irish Masters. 6 legends will battle it out with 2 qualifiers from the North and South of Ireland in the pressure cooker venue. th th The Event runs the weekend of the 6 and 7 January 2018. 5k the winner. The Seniors Masters will take place one week before BetFred World Championships, at the most famous venue of all, The Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. 2 lucky qualifiers will get the chance to play in the one table set up at the games most hallowed venue.
