Yes? In the ruins of a garden in rural England. In a house which was once a home. A woman searches for seeds of hope. Following a sell-out run in 2017, Albion returns to the Almeida for four weeks only. Joining the previously announced Victoria Hamilton (awarded Best Actress at 2018 Critics’ Circle Awards for this role) and reprising their roles are Nigel Betts, Edyta Budnik, Wil Coban, Margot Leicester, Nicholas Rowe and Helen Schlesinger. They will be joined by Angel Coulby, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Dónal Finn and Geoffrey Freshwater. Mike Bartlett’s plays for the Almeida include his adaptation of Maxim Gorky’s Vassa, Game and the multi-award winning King Charles III (Olivier Award for Best New Play) which premiered at the Almeida before West End and Broadway transfers, a UK and international tour. His television adaptation of the play was broadcast on BBC Two in 2017. In a small deserted café the smooth, jazzy sounds of Sarah Vaughan can be heard coming from the jukebox. Whilst Hally does his homework, Sam and Willy scrub floors, practice the quickstep, and share their daydreams about better times. ‘There’s no collisions out there Hally. Nobody trips or stumbles or bumps into anybody else. That's what that moment is all about. To be one of those finalists on that dancefloor is like…like being in a dream about a world in which accidents don't happen.’ Athol Fugard (1932 -) is South Africa’s greatest living dramatist. Drawn from a haunting incident in his own childhood, Athol Fugard’s uniquely personal account of 1950’s South Africa won the Evening Standard Best Play Award 1983. This production of ‘Master Harold’… and The Boys enjoyed a successful run at the Bristol Old Vic, where it was first produced in 2002. Joyce Branagh has recently co-directed a production of Twelfth Night which is currently touring nationally, and she will be directing Summer Again at the Orange Tree in October. She has just been appointed as the Literary Director for Watford Palace Theatre Jonathan Broadbent has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal National Theatre, Shared Experience, and Bristol Old Vic and recently in Mill on the Floss for Nottingham Playhouse. -

In a new production commissioned by the Finborough Theatre, the rediscovery of Tony Harrison’s The Trackers of Oxyrhynchus in its first London production for nearly 30 years opens at the Finborough Theatre for a four week limited season on Tuesday, 3 January 2017 (Press Nights: Thursday, 5 January and Friday, 6 January 2017 at 7.30pm). Egypt, 1907. Two archaeologists, Bernard Grenfell and Arthur Hunt, are searching for ancient fragments of poetry and plays, next to an old rubbish heap. Until the Greek God, Apollo, descends from the skies... Apollo is furious that they have failed to unearth the fragmentary text of a lost Satyr play by Sophocles. As he forces the two papyrologists to find the lost play, Grenfell and Hunt become part of the story they have discovered. Multi-award-winning poet and playwright Tony Harrison remakes the ancient Greek original into a play for our times – and rediscovers the satyr play. -

This LATE SUMMER 1814 brand new adaptation by Stephanie Dale celebrates 200 years since the novel’s TO SPRING 1815. publication. C THE CAMPAIGN FOR REAL ALE The CAMRA Regional Inventory for London Pub Interiors of Special Historic Interest Using the Regional Inventory The information The Regional Inventory listings are found on pages 13–47, where the entries are arranged alphabetically by postal districts and, within these, by pub names. The exceptions are outer London districts which are listed towards the end. Key Listed status Statutory listing: whether a pub building is statutorily listed or not is spelled out, together with the grade at which it is listed LPA Local planning authority: giving the name of the London borough responsible for local planning and listed building matters ✩ National Inventory: pubs which are also on CAMRA’s National Inventory of Pub interiors of Outstanding Historic Interest Public transport London is well served by public transport and few of the pubs listed are far from a bus stop, Underground or rail station. The choice is often considerable and users will have no di≤culty in easily reaching almost every pub with the aid of a street map and a transport guide. A few cautionary words The sole concern of this Regional Inventory is with the internal historic fabric of pubs – not with qualities like their atmosphere, friendliness or availability of real ale that are featured in other CAMRA pub guides. Many Regional Inventory pubs are rich in these qualities too, of course, and most of them, but by no means all, serve real ale. But inclusion in this booklet is for a pub’s physical attributes only, and is not to be construed as a recommendation in any other sense. -

Merrie England plays at the Finborough Theatre for a limited run of nine Sunday and Monday evening performances and Tuesday matinees, opening on Sunday, 27 May 2012 (Press Night: Monday, 28 May 2012 at 7.30pm). Edward German's patriotic pageant deals with love and rivalries at the court of Queen Elizabeth I as the monarch visits the townsfolk of Windsor to celebrate May Day. With a plot that includes such historical personages as Sir Walter Raleigh and the Earl of Essex, murder plots and tales of witchcraft unravel to the background of the May Day revels... An English light opera in the style made famous by Gilbert and Sullivan, Merrie England features a prominent chorus and a range of principal numbers including ballads, patter songs, duets and quintets.
